Nobody likes a shakedown. Especially not Denis Carroll, proprietor of The Brass Lantern, a dive bar in a bleak southern Illinois town. Five years ago Denis gunned down a dirtbag who was attempting to hold up his bar. At least that's what the cops think. After the shooting, Denis' hotheaded younger brother, Vince, insisted on taking the rap. No big deal. He'd plead self-defense. Case closed. What the Carrolls didn't count on was the cops discovering a huge stash of weed in a back room, locally sourced marijuana the Carrolls peddled "to make ends meet." Weed supplied by the psychotic Goodwin Brothers, Clay and Randy. Vince ended up taking the fall for that, too. With Vince behind bars and Denis promising to keep his nose clean, the Goodwins turn to blackmail to force the Carrolls back into the illegal drug trade. Play along or the Goodwin Brothers (one of whom witnessed the shooting at the bar) will finger Denis as a murderer. Meanwhile the Goodwins have troubles of their own, specifically their niece, Erica. As a child, Erica witnessed her sister being sexually abused by her Uncle Clay. As a young woman, she saw her fianc shot down at a local bar by one of the Carrolls. Erica is determined to get revenge on both men. How much better if she can kill two birds with one stone--get rid of her uncle and pin his murder on that murderous bar owner? In this darkly humorous small-town noir everyone has something to hide and nothing is as it seems.
Revision with unchanged content. The history of Western research and academic theory provides many examples of how the sensory perception of symbolic forms during focused inquiry guided scientists in their search for novel solutions. Well-known cases are the research of Copernicus, Einstein, Kekul , Kepler, and Poincar . Despite the existence of anecdotal accounts of these experiences across fields, the actual investigation of symbol formation during the creative process of rigorous inquiry has largely been neglected because traditional research approaches do not recognize the researcher as the locus of synthesis of epistemological and psychological elements. This original work presents an investigation of the phenomenon of symbol formation in the creative process of disciplined inquiry. The research framework of the study considers heuristic, semiotic, and multicultural perspectives. The study provides an in-depth look at the relationship between researcher, symbolic form, and the development of novel understanding. The book is addressed to scientists, artists, and others interested in the complex nature of the creative process.

This quantitative non-experimental correlational research design aimed to describe which among behavioral, emotional and cognitive engagement significantly predicts the academic performance of senior high school students in San Vicente National High School and thereafter develop a regression model for the study. The predictors were tested whether these influence greatly the academic performance of thee students in terms of grades in English, Mathematics and Science subjects. Using the complete enumeration, 82 respondents were selected to answer the validated and adapted instruments. Using Pearson's r and multiple regression analysis, the figures revealed that there is no significant relationship between school engagement and students' academic performance; however, significant relationship existed between cognitive engagement and academic performance in Science subject among the respondents. The multiple regression model of the study is: Y (Academic Performance of the respondents) = -1.801. x1 (behavioral engagement) + 1.426x2 (emotional engagement) - 1.944x3 (cognitive engagement) + 88.586.

To av dem beskriver kognitiv stimuleringsterapi i grupper. Originaltittelen er Making a difference 3. individual Cognitive Stimulation Therapy: A manual for carers.
