The 18th century was a wealth of knowledge, exploration and rapidly growing technology and expanding record-keeping made possible by advances in the printing press. In its determination to preserve the century of revolution, Gale initiated a revolution of its own: digitization of epic proportions to preserve these invaluable works in the largest archive of its kind. Now for the first time these high-quality digital copies of original 18th century manuscripts are available in print, making them highly accessible to libraries, undergraduate students, and independent scholars. The Age of Enlightenment profoundly enriched religious and philosophical understanding and continues to influence present-day thinking. Works collected here include masterpieces by David Hume, Immanuel Kant, and Jean-Jacques Rousseau, as well as religious sermons and moral debates on the issues of the day, such as the slave trade. The Age of Reason saw conflict between Protestantism and Catholicism transformed into one between faith and logic -- a debate that continues in the twenty-first century.++++The below data was compiled from various identification fields in the bibliographic record of this title. Developed and designed in close collaboration with Paolo Roversi himself, this definitive monograph surveys the last fifty years of the photographer's distinctive output. Arriving in Paris from Ravenna in 1973, Paolo Roversi produced his first series of photographs in 1977, which were immediately picked up by the fashion press. From then on, he devoted himself to fashion photography, working for the greatest designers and for the most prestigious magazines, simultaneously occupying a position both at the heart of the fashion world and far from its ephemeral trends. Ultimately in search of pure beauty, he formulates timeless and mysterious work, which is defined by his choice of studio and use of large format and Polaroid cameras. At the heart of his photography are his dedicated relationships with fashion designers and models, most famously with Yohji Yamamoto, as well as Romeo Gigli, Rei Kawakubo and Dior, and these fruitful collaborations have allowed Roversi to continuously challenge and renew his practice. Conceived and designed in close collaboration with the photographer, and drawing on his archives, this book features many original prints, including some that have never been seen before. Spanning the entirety of Roversi’s career, it explores his approach to his creative space and the way he treats it like a theatre stage, constantly reinventing it to suit each new collaboration.

A compact survey of photographer Paolo Roversi’s romantic, intense and ethereal fashion images and portraits. Born in Ravenna, Italy, in 1947, Paolo Roversi discovered photography at the age of seventeen on a family holiday. A chance meeting with photographer Peter Knapp led him to move to Paris in the early 1970s, where he first encountered the world of fashion. His career truly began when he became an assistant to Laurence Sackman, who taught him the photographer’s craft. Now based in Paris for more than thirty years, Roversi is famed for his use of large-format Polaroid film to capture images of ethereal beauty, vulnerability and romanticism. Working in evocative monochrome or carefully articulated colour, he collaborates regularly with the world’s top supermodels and designers, and has shot for many leading fashion magazines and international ad campaigns.

In this graphic novel-style book for young readers, Paolo—an always-on-alert sheepdog—moves to the Blue Forest and must learn to get along with his new neighbors and adjust to a more relaxed lifestyle. After years of hard work, Paolo the sheepdog is certainly entitled to a happy retirement. But when he moves to the Blue Forest, the new, slower lifestyle is difficult to get used to! It was Paolo’s responsibility to lead, take care of, and supervise, and he is struggling to give up certain habits and behaviors. However, the forest residents are not taking well to being told what to do, and they certainly don’t need that much order in the forest. Evo, the Blue Forest's troublemaker, is not helping matters either when he helps Paolo with a scheme that puts everyone in danger. Can Bitmax and his friends save the forest creatures and ultimately help Paolo embrace a more relaxed lifestyle where everyone helps each other? From the bestselling author and illustrator team of Copons & Fortuny, Paolo, the Sheepdog is the fourth book in the Bitmax & Co. series. Filled with adventure and comedy, each title in the Bitmax & Co. series clearly focuses on a single conflict, placing young readers in the heart of the classic narrative structure that presents a conflict, develops it, and solves it. Paolo Bozzi’s Experimental Phenomenology
This anthology translates eighteen papers by Italian philosopher and experimental psychologist Paolo Bozzi (1930-2003), bringing his distinctive and influential ideas to an English-speaking audience for the first time. The papers cover a range of methodological and experimental questions concerning the phenomenology of perception and their theoretical implications, with each one followed by commentary from leading international experts. In his laboratory work, Bozzi investigated visual and auditory perception, such as our responses to pendular motion and bodies in freefall, afterimages, transparency effects, and grouping effects in dot lattices and among sounds (musical notes). Reflecting on the results of his enquiries against the background of traditional approaches to experimentation in these fields, Bozzi took a unique realist stance that challenges accepted approaches to perception, arguing that experimental phenomenology is neither a science of the perceptual process nor a science of the appearances; it is a science of how things are. The writings collected here offer an important resource for psychologists of perception and philosophers, as well as for researchers in cognitive science.
