"Perry and Perky - The Adventures Continue" is the second picture book about the adventures of Perry, an endearing pygmy-possum, and his friend Perky, a quirky quokka. It is the sequel to "Nobody's Friend (But that's not where it ends )" and contains five different stories which are designed to be read to children up to 7 years of age. Both books were illustrated in watercolours by acclaimed Australian artist, Emma Stuart. In this latest book, Perry and Perky continue their adventures--travelling by brumby, motor bike, aeroplane and spaceship. As they travel, they meet up with a group of burrowing animals around a campfire, a patch of petunias on strike, wildlife thieves, and pear-shaped creatures from another planet. It also contains subtle life lessons. This book is also available as a hardback. The synopsis of each story is as follows: "A Peaceful Place" When the brumby they'd been travelling on needed to rest, Perry and Perky meet Winston Wombat and his burrowing friends at a campfire and they tell Perry and Perky why they are there. "The Petunia Patch" Perry dreams that the petunias have closed their petals because the insects take their nectar and pollen without permission. A petunia explains why, and from then on, everyone practised good manners. "Perky Proves He Can" Wildlife thieves capture Perry and Perky. Perry's torpor-time prevents him from doing anything about it so it's up to Perky to save them all. "Pyrusians" A spaceship carrying pear-shaped creatures from Planet Pyrus crashes into a rainforest on Earth. Cammie and Leon are playing outside the spaceship despite being told not to leave it. The children learn that disobedience has its consequences. "Planet Pyrus" Cammie and Leon go back to school after returning to Planet Pyrus. When Cammie says there is life on other planets, she is called a liar. Pyrusians were just green, pear-shaped blobs didn't believe anything else was possible. She and Leon brought Perry and Perky to school as proof. In due course, Pyrus becomes ablaze with colour.

The Establishment of English colonies in North America and the West Indies in the seventeenth century opened new opportunities for trade. Conspicuous among the families who used these opportunities to gain mercantile and social importance was the Perry family of Devon, who created Perry and Lane, by the end of the century the most important London firm trading to the Chesapeake and other parts of North America.Jacob Price traces the family from Devon to Spain, Ireland, Scotland, the Chesapeake, New England, and London. He describes their relationships with Chesapeake society, from the Byrds and Carters to humble planters. In London, the firm’s patronage gave the family high standing among fellow businessmen, a position the founder’s grandson utilized to become a member of Parliament and Lord Mayor of London. In the end, the grandson’s political success as an antiministerialist brought the family the enmity of the prime minister, Sir Robert Walpole, and contributed to the downfall of their firm. The Perrys’ story reveals the interrelatedness of social, commercial, and political history. It offers an important contribution to our understanding of the nature of the Chesapeake trade and the forces shaping the success and failure of English mercantile enterprise in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.

In 1933 the crime writer Erle Stanley Gardner, himself a practicing lawyer, unleashed the character Perry Mason in the novel The Case of the Velvet Claws. Perry Mason entered into public consciousness as a new conception of the role of the defense lawyer, so that millions of Americans came to expect every criminal trial to have its “Perry Mason moment.” In the 1950s the Perry Mason TV show had a phenomenal success, and Mason came to be identified with Raymond Burr. Now Perry Mason has again been restored to life in the HBO series starring Matthew Rhys and John Lithgow. Meanwhile, the eighty-two original Erle Stanley Gardner novels continue to sell thousands of copies each week. Perry Mason gave America a new conception of the trial lawyer, as someone who was always loyal to his client and always prepared to use dirty tricks such as misdirection and withholding of evidence to protect the innocent and secure the ends of Justice. The Mason of the novels is less scrupulous than the Raymond Burr Mason, and would sometimes be in danger of going to jail if the trial didn’t turn out right—which it always did, largely because of Mason’s cleverness. The Perry Mason icon raises many philosophical issues explored by seventeen different philosophers in this book, including: ? Can we defend Paul Drake’s claim (The Case of the Blonde Bonanza) that Mason is “a paragon of righteous virtue” despite his predilection for skating on thin legal ice? ? Can complex murder cases be solved by facts alone—or do we also need empathy? ? The most convincing way to give a TV episode a surprise ending is by the guilty person suddenly confessing. But in reality, is a confession necessarily so convincing? ? Does Perry Mason represent the Messiah? ? How does the Raymond Burr Perry Mason compare with the more recent TV character Saul Goodman (Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul)? ? Is it morally okay to mislead the police if this helps your client and your client is innocent? ? How does Perry Mason help us understand the distinction between natural law and positive law? ? Do the Perry Mason stories comply with Aristotle’s recipe for a good work of fiction? ? Does life imitate art, when Perry Mason is cited in real-life courtroom arguments? ? How much trickery can be justified by loyalty to one’s client? ? Can evidence in murder trials be evaluated by probability theory? ? Perry Mason is officially a lawyer and unofficially a detective. But isn’t he really a historian and a psychgoanalayst? ? Della Street is a competent legal secretary, but is she something more? ? Mason often says that “Eye-witness testimony is the worst kind of evidence” and occasionally that “Circumstantial evidence is the best evidence we have.” Can these claims be defended?

Perry Mason was one of the most successful television programs from the 1950s and remains one of the most influential crime melodramas from any period. The show's influence goes far beyond its nine-year tenure (1957-66), the millions of dollars it generated for its creators and for CBS, and the definitive identification it provided its star, Raymond Burr. ""Perry Mason"" has become a true piece of Americana, evolving through a formulaic approach that law professors continue to use today as a teaching tool. In his examination of ""Perry Mason"", author Thomas Leitch looks at why this series has appealed to so many for so long and what the continued appeal tells us about Americans' attitudes toward lawyers and the law, then and now. Beginning with its roots in earlier detective fiction, stories of fictional attorneys, and the work of Erle Stanley Gardner (the show's creator), Leitch lays out the circumstances under which ""Perry Mason"" was conceived and marketed as a distinct franchise. The evolution of ""Perry Mason"" is charted here in an inclusive manner, discussing the show's broadcast history (ending with the series of two-hour tele-movies that aired nearly twenty years after the original series ended) alongside its generic nature and place within popular culture, the show's ideological dynamic, and issues of authorship in the context of television. This concise study is an excellent tool for television and media scholars as well as fans of the ""Perry Mason"" series.

In the late ’70s, spirited young designer, Perry Ellis introduced a fresh, witty and relaxed new sensibility to American sportswear, initially for women and a few years later, for men. The clothes were easy, oversized, slouchy, but classic at heart and they caused a sensation. Ellis, who once told the New York Times that he "always made a determined effort to do something different," did just that, creating a series of signature looks such as his “dimple” sleeves and single-cabled sweaters that set his clothes apart from everyone else’s. Nearly three decades after his untimely death, the legacy of the designer Ellis is still very much felt : PERRY ELLIS: An American Original is the first complete monograph to celebrate his exceptional career. The beautifully illustrated book showcases Ellis’s designs through a combination of photography and sketches, providing an insightful look at each season of his career, from 1976 to 1986, offering readers unique access to editorial and ad campaign photographs from the archives of brilliant photographer Erica Lennard, with whom Ellis worked almost exclusively. Included here are ephemera, a treasure trove of drawings, and never-before-published photos from the personal collections of the designer’s friends and family, adding insight to Ellis’s unique aesthetic while solidifying his place as one of the key contemporary designers of American fashion.

In book two the angels made it back in time to save Perry, and then they didn't leave. At least one stayed and he doesn't seem to be happy. He expects a lot of Perry and Perry begrudgingly tries to comply. In this last third of his freshman year Perry has some tough going, but other than a few hours in the emergency room he manages to stay out of the hospital, but that doesn't mean life is easy; there is pop's heart attack, the mugging at the dumpster, and a counseling session with his mom, who he accuses of dating an 18-year-old. Finally, Perry is falling so deeply in love with Cam that he has lost sight of the fact that he is only in ninth grade love, and he begins to envision more long-range plans. We don't know what Cam is feeling.
