Nonostante i risultati ottenuti in altri settori della sanit pubblica, il tasso di mortalit infantile (IMR) ha subito solo variazioni minime o nulle (da 48 morti per 1000 nati vivi nel 2006 a 46 morti per 1000 nati vivi nel 2011), lasciando una percentuale ancora eccezionalmente alta rispetto ad altri Paesi asiatici. indispensabile identificare e confrontare i fattori che contribuiscono in modo significativo alle morti infantili per fornire raccomandazioni basate su prove per migliorare la promozione e la pianificazione della salute infantile nel Paese.
