Denna skrift handlar om Per Andersson född den 20/6 1826 i Järvsö socken. Han växte upp som soldatson i byn Boda och blev själv soldat – en sjukvårdare som tog sig soldatnamnet Rinaldo. Hans intresse och färdigheter inom sjukvården och kunskaper inom militärfarmakopén kom till nytta även till vardags i det privata. Med tiden blir han en närmast helgonförklarad ”medicinman” som kunde bota många slags åkommor – känd inte bara i Järvsö utan även i grannsocknarna. Till och med den ordinarie läkaren i Järvsö, Dr Öhrn, högaktade honom. I samband med min forskning kring att dokumentera ett barnamord som ägde rum 1888 i Nordsjöhemmet ville jag ha en bild på Rinaldo. Förövaren använde nämligen bröstdroppar enligt recept från honom, men som hade förgiftats med arsenik. Jag fann ett fåtal nu levande ättlingar till Rinaldo, men ingen hade någonsin sett en bild på honom. Däremot fanns hans snusdosa, ett gammalt brev från 1857 och ett tiotal av hans gamla recept bevarade hos ett av barnbarnsbarnen. Recepten från Rinaldo utgör en viktig del av Järvsös historia och borde därför dokumenteras – något som födde idén till denna skrift. Jag tog kontakt med Elisabet Hermansson i Järvsö. Jag hade fått höra att hon var utbildad apotekare. Hon ville gärna hjälpa till med att tyda recepten. Jättebra! – ”Då kan vi ju göra skriften ihop”, tänkte jag. Och så blev det! Rinaldos liv får ett sorgligt slut. En nitisk läkare i Bollnäs anmäler honom i november 1891 för att ha ägnat sig åt kvacksalveri. Rinaldo är då på sitt 65e levnadsår och har ägnat sig åt ”kvacksalveriet” i hela sitt liv – i över 35 år. Han blir först dömd till att böta 10 kr för att inte ha inställt sig vid det första rannsakningstillfället och sen dömd till att betala ytterligare 12,50 kr i böter för kvacksalveri – ganska mycket pengar om man betänker att Rinaldo tog 25 öre i arvode då han vid ett hembesök akut opererade bort blindtarmen hos en person, som annars riskerade att dö./Gunnar Bergman
