Sergio Larrain: London
In this new edition of London, including previously unpublished photographs and visual references, Sergio Larrain presents a powerful portrait of a city on the brink of a new era. In the winter of 1958, Sergio Larrain traveled to London. He spent just a few months there, photographing subjects that interested him and embracing the shadows of the city. In the cold and damp, his images captured a tangible darkness in which he could "materialize that world of phantoms." A few years later, he joined Magnum Photos and set off around the world, before retiring to the Chilean countryside and leaving photography behind. The book also features a text by the late Chilean writer Roberto Bola o--written in 1999 specifically to accompany these images--as well as a new essay by Agn s Sire, artistic director of Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson, detailing Larrain's stay in London.

Life has a funny way of pushing us beyond what is mentally possible. Paige I was born to parents who never cared if I had food or clothes. I was nothing. A waste of space and time to them. At sixteen, they relocated...and didn't bother to tell me. I lived in my busted up and broken-down car behind a gym for months when two men found me. One of them I believed was my savior, the love of my life. Turns out things aren't always what they seem. He was the devil in disguise. A few thousand bad decisions later, I find myself in the very same parking lot where I found the devil and the man who supported me through it all. I'm Paige Turner. I'm a mess of a woman with nothing but hard times in my past and a future that's completely uncertain. Sergio I had a life once. I had a wife and a baby on the way. My life was everything I never knew I wanted. I was halfway around the world, defending my country, serving the United States proudly, when I lost absolutely everything that mattered. I couldn't save them. I couldn't even fight for them. I went through the stages of grief and I've come out on the other side a different man. Now, I fight. Literally. There is something therapeutic about beating someone or even yourself. I can control the pain, unlike my life. I'm Sergio Nichols. When my family was taken, I've somehow learned to function in a new dysfunctional family of their own making. Two broken people with one chance at redemption.
#Blessed: The Inspirational & Motivational Life Story of Sergio McGee
Life seldom stops to ask what it is we want. Time marches forward at an unstoppable pace, often leaving us struggling to catch up. We face numerous trials along the way. Some make us stronger while others threaten to break us. Sergio McGee has endured more than his share of trials and tribulations. When asked the reason for writing his memoir, Sergio stated he wrote this book to help himself and to help others who may be facing a similar situation. When asked why he chose 'Blessed' as the title for his first book, Sergio simply stated, "With everything I have been through and to know I survived -I know I am truly blessed." It was during those darkest moments of his life that he turned to what became the foundation of who is he, his Faith. 'Blessed' recounts Sergio's struggle to overcome his conflicting emotions and fears that threatened to paralyze him. It was his faith, self-determination, and strength that got him through the bad times and to overcome the tremendous odds stacked against him. Clinging to his faith, Sergio turned the tables and became the man he always wished to be. Sergio's perseverance led to the writing of "Blessed" in hope that others would benefit from his experiences, understanding, and strength in his faith. Somewhere, someone is facing their own private crisis. Blessed provides the moral fuel to keep fighting, pushing, and living no matter what obstacles are thrown at you. Ask Sergio today why he is still here and his answer is simple, he is blessed.

Sergio Raimondi’s work engages in the most complex issues of his time, including globalisation, colonialism, industrialisation and environmental degradation. Yet all his concerns are rigorously analysed through the medium of the poet’s art, steeped in literary tradition and craft. He is widely considered Argentina’s most important and influential contemporary poet, with an international reputation. Many of Raimondi’s poems address what might seem unlikely subjects for poetry: industrial practices, global trade, or labour legislation. Yet among the allusions, the immense research, the unsparing gaze, and the expert skill of the language there’s also room for desert-dry humour, touches of self-deprecation and immense empathy for individuals caught up in seemingly implacable historical processes. This volume includes a generous selection of his poems from Poesía civil (Civil Poetry) and Lexikón (Lexikon) in bilingual Spanish-English facing-pages format. A substantial introduction by the translators places Raimondi’s work in its literary and wider cultural context, and reflects on the challenges faced when bringing his unique poetry into English.

Compiled writings and interviews from the director who pioneered the "spaghetti Western" film genreBetween the worldwide box-office success of his Dollars trilogy and his untimely death in April 1989 at the age of 60, Sergio Leone gave several interviews to selected film journalists. He also wrote a series of thoughtful essays about his cinematic influences such as Charlie Chaplin, Federico Fellini, Henry Fonda, Robert Aldrich and John Ford. To accompany his final film, Once Upon a Time in America (1984), he published several articles about his obsessive quest to make the film and how it eventually happened. Most of these writings have never before appeared in English; as a collection they have never before appeared anywhere. Sergio Leone by Himself, compiled by Leone's acclaimed biographer Christopher Frayling, gathers all his significant interviews, essays and articles to create a director's-eye view of a body of work that over the past half century has had a decisive influence on world cinema. The book is illustrated with previously unseen photographs, posters and related ephemera from the Leone family collection and the Angelo Novi archive, both now housed in the Cineteca in Bologna. The architect of cinema's American West, Sergio Leone (1929-89) did not speak English. His "spaghetti Westerns" were filmed in Italy and Spain and received both critique and acclaim for their violence, grittiness and camera work. Leone is best remembered for his two "trilogies'' of films: the Dollars trilogy starring Clint Eastwood and his Once Upon a Time films.Christopher Frayling is the leading scholar on the life and legacy of Sergio Leone and is the author of his bestselling biography, Something to Do with Death. He served as rector of the Royal College of Art from 1996 to 2009 and as chairman of Arts Council England from 2005 to 2009. As Sergio Leone once said to him, "it took an Englishman to take my films seriously."
