A Day in the Life of Sargent Smith: A Common Man

A Day in the Life of Sargent Smith: A Common Man

David Lee Henley

Independently Published

In this short story we find Sargent Smith is a common ordinary individual that has been selected by a dedicated investigative body of which is unknown to humans at this point. It is obvious that no malice is aimed at us or Sargent Smith. Their only predisposition is to follow Sargent Smith for one day and report on his actions and behaviors and create a report for the high council who has paid for their investigative services. It seems we have an unseen force behind the scenes directing some sort of surveillance operation on the world apparently to gain knowledge as to our behaviors. It is also obvious these beings as we will call them are not willing to inform humans of their presence. At least for now. They are doing things on a rather large and broad scale. It is only coming to our attention now because someone decided to write this short story about it. We don't know if this story is true or just a fabrication of this someone's imagination. We may never know. All we have the power to do is read the story and wonder. Maybe throw a laser light toward a star at night and see if it winks back. Who knows what is real or not real anymore? Maybe imagination is just another form of reality.

There was a table in the middle of the room, and some dozen of the men were seated at it. The rest stood in groups, or leaned against the walls. Of the four who formed the Inner Council three were present. Most of the Delegates had expected that the head of The Council, the head of the Federated Organisations, that mysterious Number One whom they all knew by reputation and yet had never seen in the flesh, would be present in person to take the chair..."

It can be hard for busy professionals to find the time to read the latest books. Stay up to date in a fraction of the time with this concise guide. The Wealth of Nations is one of the most significant works in economics history, and is a foundational text of classical economics. Written at a time when the Industrial Revolution was changing the face of Western societies, the book seeks to explain why some countries are wealthier than others and how a fair, productive society can be created. In particular, Smith's advocacy of division of labour, free trade and free markets, with equilibrium guaranteed by the so-called "invisible hand of the market", proved extremely influential in the UK and USA and shaped our modern economic system. The work is still widely studied today, and remains one of the most cited texts in the social sciences. This book review and analysis is perfect for: - Students of economic theory and the history of economics- Anyone who wants to gain a greater understanding of classical economics- Anyone who is curious about why some countries are wealthier than others About 50MINUTES.COM BOOK REVIEWThe Book Review series from the 50Minutes collection is aimed at anyone who is looking to learn from experts in their field without spending hours reading endless pages of information.
