President Donald J. Trump has been the subject of withering attacks on his character and fitness for office since announcing his candidacy for president in 2015. The radical left, Democrats and their media allies, and "Never Trump" Republicans say he poses a threat to the presidency, our governing institutions, and our national character. He's repeatedly accused of being a liar, racist, misogynist and dictator. Stephen Barry and Marc Z. Lieberman, longtime friends with opposite views of Trump, debate his presidency in real time in this book. Through text messages, they highlight the stark divide in how the public views Trump. From Trump's efforts to ban immigration from dysfunctional Muslim-majority countries, to his plans to build a wall on the Mexican border, to his initial response to the coronavirus pandemic, the authors consider the consequences of his actions-as well as his motives. For those who oppose Trump, the underlying theme is that he should not be permitted to exercise the powers of his office. But are they right? See the arguments for Trump as well as why it's imperative that he be allowed to serve.

Inspired by personal observations of the climate crisis, as well as health issues from patients involving ministerial fire, this text dives into the concepts of ming men and ministerial fire - core concepts of Chinese medical diagnosis and treatment. This book will assist practitioners in understanding the mechanisms of treating patients with autoimmune diseases, allergies, skin disorders and arthritic disorders. With material from the classic texts, Z'ev Rosenberg explains the concepts ming men and ministerial fire and its relation to the clinical treatment of chronic disorders and its ecological and philosophical implications for life on this planet.Including case histories, acupuncture strategies and herbal formulas, Afterglow is for practitioners that want to deepen their Chinese medicine knowledge in order to treat these complex yet common disorders.
Data-driven Modelling of Structured Populations

This book is a “How To” guide for modeling population dynamics using Integral Projection Models (IPM) starting from observational data. It is written by a leading research team in this area and includes code in the R language (in the text and online) to carry out all computations. The intended audience are ecologists, evolutionary biologists, and mathematical biologists interested in developing data-driven models for animal and plant populations. IPMs may seem hard as they involve integrals. The aim of this book is to demystify IPMs, so they become the model of choice for populations structured by size or other continuously varying traits. The book uses real examples of increasing complexity to show how the life-cycle of the study organism naturally leads to the appropriate statistical analysis, which leads directly to the IPM itself. A wide range of model types and analyses are presented, including model construction, computational methods, and the underlying theory, with the more technical material in Boxes and Appendices. Self-contained R code which replicates all of the figures and calculations within the text is available to readers on GitHub.Stephen P. Ellner is Horace White Professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Cornell University, USA; Dylan Z. Childs is Lecturer and NERC Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Animal and Plant Sciences at The University of Sheffield, UK; Mark Rees is Professor in the Department of Animal and Plant Sciences at The University of Sheffield, UK.
The inspiring story of a young ornithologist who reintroduced puffins where none had been seen for a century Project Puffin is the inspiring story of how a beloved seabird was restored to long-abandoned nesting colonies off the Maine coast. As a young ornithology instructor at the Hog Island Audubon Camp, Dr. Stephen W. Kress learned that puffins had nested on nearby islands until extirpated by hunters in the late 1800s. To right this environmental wrong, he resolved to bring puffins back to one such island—Eastern Egg Rock. Yet bringing the plan to reality meant convincing skeptics, finding resources, and inventing restoration methods at a time when many believed in “letting nature take its course.” Today, Project Puffin has restored more than 1,000 puffin pairs to three Maine islands. But even more exciting, techniques developed during the project have helped to restore rare and endangered seabirds worldwide. Further, reestablished puffins now serve as a window into the effects of global warming. The success of Dr. Kress’s project offers hope that people can restore lost wildlife populations and the habitats that support them. The need for such inspiration has never been greater.
Doing Research in Emergency and Acute Care

A practical guide to understanding and navigating the unique challenges faced by physicians and other professionals who wish to undertake research in the ED or other acute care setting. Focusing on the hyper-acute and acute care environment and fulfilling two closely-related needs: 1) the need for even seasoned researchers to understand the specific logistics and issues of doing research in the ED; and 2) the need to educate clinically active physicians in research methodology. This new text is not designed to be a complex, encyclopedic resource, but instead a concise, easy-to-read resource designed to convey key “need-to-know” information within a comprehensive framework. Aimed at the busy brain, either as a sit-down read or as a selectively-read reference guide to fill in knowledge gaps, chapters are short, compartmentalized, and are used strategically throughout the text in order to introduce and frame concepts. This format makes it easy - and even entertaining - for the research novice to integrate and absorb completely new (and typically dry) material. The textbook addresses aspects of feasibility, efficiency, ethics, statistics, safety, logistics, and collaboration in acute research. Overall, it grants access for the seasoned researcher seeking to learn about acute research to empathically integrate learning points into his or her knowledge base. As the ED is the primary setting for hyper-acute and acute care, and therefore a prime site for related clinical trial recruitment and interventions, the book presents specific logistical research challenges that researchers from any discipline, including physicians, research nurse coordinators, study monitors, or industry partners, need to understand in order to succeed.

Personalmanagement in der Arzt- und Zahnarztpraxis von A bis Z
Stephan Kock; Kirsten Kock
Springer-Verlag Berlin and Heidelberg GmbH Co. KG
2023
nidottu

Cardinal Martini approaches the figure of Stephen, the first martyr, by beginning with what is described in Chapters 6-8 of the Acts of the Apostles, 'an impressive document of a man's retrospective view in the face of death, of himself, the history of salvation, of what Christ has meant for him and the future to which he has been called.' Reflection on the figure of Stephen is important for the entire community of believers; in fact with Stephen 'the Church feels the seriousness of being both witness and servant: It understands that abandoning oneself to God does not save one from death, but it does allow one to pass through death, contemplating the glory of God; it recognises what it is that God saves us and does not save us from and what he prepares us for.'The richness of these meditations lies in this summary of things. It lies in the experience of a man who is approaching the revelation of the proximity of a transcendent and immanent God and at the same time arrives 'at the culmination of his mission as servant witness, ' experiencing the mystery that he proclaims, contemplates and adores, in his very own body.
