Among many other topics it covers local and international Conclaves of the Temple, founding of the Order of the Great Bear as well as publications of the Left-Hand Path, the San Francisco Diary and Terra Hyperborea. Finally, this last part of the Aletheia trilogy reveals how Aletheia almost became an onic Word and what led Kotkavuori to resign from the Temple of Set. Semi-Presidential Policy-Making in Europe

Semi-Presidential Policy-Making in Europe

Tapio Raunio; Thomas Sedelius

This book explores how power-sharing between the president and the prime minister works in semi-presidential regimes. In contrast to much of the existing comparative work on semi-presidentialism, the book emphasizes the role of institutional coordination at the most concrete level of executive policy-making, and asks how institutional coordination between the president and prime minister influences presidential activism and the balance of power within the executive. The authors develop a tentative framework embedded in institutionalism and based on four strands of research – semi-presidentialism, public administration, political leadership, and foreign policy analysis – which is subsequently applied to the cases of Lithuania, Romania and Finland. Given the political challenges facing many semi-presidential countries, the study ultimately seeks to identify institutional solutions that facilitate power-sharing and successful policy-making.

This book illustrates how models of chemical reactors are built up in a systematic manner, step by step. The authors also outline how the numerical solution algorithms for reactor models are selected, as well as how computer codes are written for numerical performance, with a focus on MATLAB and Fortran. Examples solved in MATLAB and simulations performed in Fortran are included for demonstration purposes.

Follow step-by-step explanations to understand mathematical models – algebraic and differential equations – of chemical reactors and how numerical models workin computer implementation. Learn the basics behind current user-friendly tools in numerical simulation and optimization of reactor systems (Python, Matlab, Julia and gPROMS). Discover how to select the right algorithm for specific reactor models from homogenous to multiphase systems and structured reactors in detailed discussions at the end of each chapter. In this second edition, 20 solved example simulations performed in MATLAB and Python are included for demonstration purposes. The Phenomenology and the Philosophy of Running

The Phenomenology and the Philosophy of Running

This book describes and analyzes the levels of experience that long-distance running produces. It looks at the kinds of experiences caused by long-distance running, the dimensions contained in these experiences, and their effects on the subjective life-world and well-being of an individual. Taking a philosophical approach, the analysis presented in this book is founded on Maurice Merleau-Ponty´s phenomenology of the body and Martin Heidegger´s fundamental ontology.Running is a versatile form of physical exercise which does not reveal all of its dimensions at once. These dimensions escape the eye and are not revealed to the runner conceptually, but rather as sensations and emotions. Instead of concentrating on conceptual analysis, this book explores the emotions and experiences and examines the meaning that running has in runners´ lives. Using the participative method, in which the author is both the research subject and the researcher, the book contributes to the philosophy of physical exercise.
