Ria lived on Tara Road in Dublin with her dashing husband, Danny, and their two children. She fully believed she was happily married, right up until the day Danny told her he was leaving her to be with his young, pregnant girlfriend. By a chance phone call, Ria meets Marilyn, a woman from New England unable to come to terms with her only son's death and now separated from her husband. The two women exchange houses for the summer with extraordinary consequences, each learning that the other has a deep secret that can never be revealed. Drawn into lifestyles vastly differing from their own, at first each resents the news of how well the other is getting on. Ria seems to have become quite a hostess, entertaining half the neighborhood, which at first irritates the reserved and withdrawn Marilyn, a woman who has always guarded her privacy. Marilyn seems to have become bosom friends with Ria's children, as well as with Colm, a handsome restaurateur, whom Ria has begun to miss terribly. At the end of the summer, the women at last meet face-to-face. Having learned a great deal, about themselves and about each other, they find that they have become, firmly and forever, good friends. A moving story rendered with the deft touch of a master artisan, Tara Road is Maeve Binchy at her very best--utterly beautiful, hauntingly unforgettable, entirely original, and wholly enjoyable.

MacArthur Genius Grant recipient Tara Donovan's otherworldly sculptures have transfixed audiences for over a decade - taking mundane materials and through clever craftsmanship, ingenuity, and repeated manipulation, the artist builds large-scale works made of rubber bands, plastic tubing, and paper plates into objects that evoke the natural world or other organic material. This volume - which accompanies a major retrospective - features an expansive selection of her most impressive and important works to date, spanning 10 years. Curator Nora Burnett Abrams, along with a several other leading scholars of contemporary art, consider critical issues around this important artist work: issues related to labour and process, and the interplay between ethereality and monumentality, among other key themes. The book looks at several major bodies of work realized in different formats and different settings, affording the reader a glimpse into the important themes and visual languages the artist continuously explores. The book will also consider, importantly for the first time, the artist's sculptural wall works which shed light on her distinct and varied practice.

This work stretches from deep prehistoric times up to the 12th century AD and beyond. After a short preamble from the Megalithic to the Bronze Age, scanning Tara's Golden Age, it deals with Celtic Europe's decline due to Roman and Germanic conquest. It follows Celtic tribes fleeing to Britain and Ireland, where they set up settlements. Ptolemy of Alexandria's 2nd-century record debunks early Irish pseudo-history and ratifies the archaic Ulidian Tales. This work exposes the monumental hoax projecting Tara of Meath as the capital of Ireland and the seat of the High Kingship. The work draws on a compelling compilation of acclaimed authors and specialist studies that list the aforesaid as a medieval forgery. Prehistoric Tara had a much older status, an archaic Golden Age. This work tracks extensive research and archaeological analysis into British oppida, from which Celtic Belgic tribes migrated and set up similar oppida in Ireland. A concentration on the early history of these neglected areas was at the core of the early Irish historical records.

This book is written for women and all the parents who are dealing with or have dealt with cancer or childhood cancer. I truly feel your pain, and I know you feel mine. My deepest sympathies to those who are grieving, and my greatest love to all those who are surviving. This true story is one of amazing strength by a mother and daughter team as they undertake a three-and-a-half-year journey of battling Ewing's sarcoma, a rare bone and soft tissue cancer that affects children and young adults. During Tara's senior year of high school, when she was just 18 years old, she went in for what she thought would be a routine surgery to remove a lump above her right breast. She honestly never thought it could have been cancer Tara refused conventional treatments in the beginning, to investigate natural remedies instead. Unafraid of the huge controversy that is unfolding, she sought out the help from many natural and holistic practitioners. Together, Tara and I learned so much about the holistic ways of shopping, eating, and living. Our days were spent doing natural treatments and getting educated on what the body needs to be healthy. Then, the unthinkable happens. Tara's cancer turns aggressive, breaking her spine in four places, and she must undergo emergency radiation to save her life. As the story unfolds, details of our journey are explained through me, the mother's point of view, as well as Tara's journal entries and social media posts. After I wrote my first edition of Tara's Choice, I realized that my mind is filled with things that I've missed. I was a volcano erupting with visions of her; with stories, details and information that needed to be heard. Tara's story changed my life and the legacy she left behind will change yours.
