Rautakenraali. Valeri Zalužnyin elämä
”Maamme kohtalo on meidän harteillamme.”Venäjän hyökkäyksen torjuneen ja Ukrainan joukkoja johtaneen kenraalin tarina.Helmikuun 24. päivänä 2022 Ukrainan asevoimien komentaja Valeri Zalužnyi lausui joukoilleen: ”Maamme kohtalo on meidän harteillamme.”

Internal Photoemission Spectroscopy

Internal Photoemission Spectroscopy

Valeri V. Afanas'ev

Elsevier / The Lancet
2014
sidottu
The second edition of Internal Photoemission Spectroscopy thoroughly updates this vital, practical guide to internal photoemission (IPE) phenomena and measurements. The book's discussion of fundamental physical and technical aspects of IPE spectroscopic applications is supplemented by an extended overview of recent experimental results in swiftly advancing research fields. These include the development of insulating materials for advanced SiMOS technology, metal gate materials, development of heterostructures based on high-mobility semiconductors, and more. Recent results concerning the band structure of important interfaces in novel materials are covered as well. Internal photoemission involves the physics of charge carrier photoemission from one solid to another, and different spectroscopic applications of this phenomenon to solid state heterojunctions. This technique complements conventional external photoemission spectroscopy by analyzing interfaces separated from the sample surface by a layer of a different solid or liquid. Internal photoemission provides the most straightforward, reliable information regarding the energy spectrum of electron states at interfaces. At the same time, the method enables the analysis of heterostructures relevant to modern micro- and nano-electronic devices as well as new materials involved in their design and fabrication.
Introduction to Black Hole Physics

Introduction to Black Hole Physics

Valeri P. Frolov; Andrei Zelnikov

Oxford University Press

nidottu
This book is about black holes, one of the most intriguing objects of modern theoretical physics and astrophysics. For many years, black holes have been considered as interesting solutions of the Theory of General Relativity with a number of amusing mathematical properties. Now after the discovery of astrophysical black holes, the Einstein gravity has become an important tool for their study. This self-contained textbook combines physical, mathematical, and astrophysical aspects of black hole theory. Pedagogically presented, it contains 'standard' material on black holes as well as relatively new subjects such as the role of hidden symmetries in black hole physics, and black holes in spacetimes with large extra dimensions. The book will appeal to students and young scientists interested in the theory of black holes.

Spread spectrum and CDMA are cutting-edge technologies widely used in operational radar, navigation and telecommunication systems and play a pivotal role in the development of the forthcoming generations of systems and networks. This comprehensive resource presents the spread spectrum concept as a product of the advancements in wireless IT, shows how and when the classical problems of signal transmission/processing stimulate the application of spread spectrum, and clarifies the advantages of spread spectrum philosophy. Detailed coverage is provided of the tools and instruments for designing spread spectrum and CDMA signals answering why a designer will prefer one solution over another. The approach adopted is wide-ranging, covering issues that apply to both data transmission and data collection systems such as telecommunications, radar, and navigation. Presents a theory-based analysis complemented by practical examples and real world case studies resulting in a self-sufficient treatment of the subjectContains detailed discussions of new trends in spread spectrum technology such as multi-user reception, multicarrier modulation, OFDM, MIMO and space-time codingProvides advice on designing discrete spread spectrum signals and signal sets for time-frequency measuring, synchronization and multi-user communicationsFeatures numerous Matlab-based problems and other exercises to encourage the reader to initiate independent investigations and simulations This valuable text provides timely guidance on the current status and future potential of spread spectrum and CDMA and is an invaluable resource for senior undergraduates and postgraduate students, lecturers and practising engineers and researchers involved in the deployment and development of spread spectrum and CDMA technology. Supported by a Companion website on which instructors and lecturers can find a solutions manual for the problems and Matlab programming, electronic versions of some of the figures and other useful resources such as a list of abbreviations.

Because of the rapid increase in commercially available Fourier transform infrared spectrometers and computers over the past ten years, it has now become feasible to use IR spectrometry to characterize very thin films at extended interfaces. At the same time, interest in thin films has grown tremendously because of applications in microelectronics, sensors, catalysis, and nanotechnology. The Handbook of Infrared Spectroscopy of Ultrathin Films provides a practical guide to experimental methods, up-to-date theory, and considerable reference data, critical for scientists who want to measure and interpret IR spectra of ultrathin films. This authoritative volume also: Offers information needed to effectively apply IR spectroscopy to the analysis and evaluation of thin and ultrathin films on flat and rough surfaces and on powders at solid-gaseous, solid-liquid, liquid-gaseous, liquid-liquid, and solid-solid interfaces. * Provides full discussion of theory underlying techniques * Describes experimental methods in detail, including optimum conditions for recording spectra and the interpretation of spectra * Gives detailed information on equipment, accessories, and techniques * Provides IR spectroscopic data tables as appendixes, including the first compilation of published data on longitudinal frequencies of different substances * Covers new approaches, such as Surface Enhanced IR spectroscopy (SEIR), time-resolved FTIR spectroscopy, high-resolution microspectroscopy and using synchotron radiation
Boundary Value Problems for Transport Equations

Boundary Value Problems for Transport Equations

Valeri Agoshkov

In the modern theory of boundary value problems the following ap proach to investigation is agreed upon (we call it the functional approach): some functional spaces are chosen; the statements of boundary value prob the basis of these spaces; and the solvability of lems are formulated on the problems, properties of solutions, and their dependence on the original data of the problems are analyzed. These stages are put on the basis of the correct statement of different problems of mathematical physics (or of the definition of ill-posed problems). For example, if the solvability of a prob lem in the functional spaces chosen cannot be established then, probably, the reason is in their unsatisfactory choice. Then the analysis should be repeated employing other functional spaces. Elliptical problems can serve as an example of classical problems which are analyzed by this approach. Their investigations brought a number of new notions and results in the theory of Sobolev spaces W;(D) which, in turn, enabled us to create a sufficiently complete theory of solvability of elliptical equations. Nowadays the mathematical theory of radiative transfer problems and kinetic equations is an extensive area of modern mathematical physics. It has various applications in astrophysics, the theory of nuclear reactors, geophysics, the theory of chemical processes, semiconductor theory, fluid mechanics, etc. [25,29,31,39,40, 47, 52, 78, 83, 94, 98, 120, 124, 125, 135, 146].
