Damian Alvarez, creator of Healing System Tinerfe, surprises us once again with a work unprecedented in the history of mankind. Without a doubt the best it have ever written about the solar plexus chakra and Vibrational Therapy treatment. What is the solar plexus? Why is blocked and unbalanced? How do we heal for full health? Get rid of once and for all the anguish, anxiety, nervousness, tachycardia, depression, nausea, dizziness, fear, insomnia, migraine, shame, insecurity, respiratory problems, inflammation of stomach, chronic fatigue and many other disorders misnamed by modern medicine as "chronic disease" and get health, peace, prosperity and happiness. Author Review: To inform that this book has been translated with the google technology, reason why (in advance), I apologize for if there are lexical or grammatical errors. Understand that I cannot afford to pay a professional translator, I just want this unpublished work to reach all corners of the world. Understand also that I am not a writer but a therapist. I have not wanted to create a literary work but to transmit knowledge (really wisdom), based on own experiences of life (54 years), and therapeutic (30 years), which will help every human being to understand the root of the disease and so heal himself. The good functioning of the Solar Plexus chakra is essential to enjoy good health and complete happiness. Dami n Alvarez
Odd Man out: Observations from the Periphery of Society
This book is a journal spanning three decades, 1964-1998, and more. It is also a series of essays written during that period. Essentially, it traces one individual's development as a person. This book did not come about in the manner of most books: as the product of a long-range plan. Rather, as is sometimes the case with a child, it just happened. It was born of a compulsion to write. As I am neither gregarious nor extroverted, this journal served as a repository for my innermost feelings during those long years. Somewhere along the way I developed the notion that perhaps others might want to see what I had written: I felt much of it was important. I believe this book speaks to everyone, regardless of who they are.

What was once a lifestyle for a small number of gay men in big cities has become a way of life for many, and the gay gym is now a culture on its own. Muscle Boys: Gay Gym Culture explores the evolution and current structure of this gay subculture that surfaced in San Francisco, West Hollywood, and New York during the 1970s. Covering ancient Greek gymnasium culture, modern bodybuilding practices, and homoerotic muscle-bound media, Muscles Boys examines the origins of the male athletic ideal. A sociological investigation on masculinity, fitness, HIV, steroids, and sex in the locker room, Muscle Boys dissects the gay gym experience, and celebrates gay body culture and its role in modern gay life. Author Erick Alvarez offers a candid study of the gay gym from his perspective as a physical trainer in the San Francisco Bay area, and from his interviews and online surveys of nearly 6,000 gay men. Muscle Boys: Gay Gym Culture is an enlightening read for anyone interested in gay body culture, and a valuable resource for academics working in GLBT studies, human sexuality, psychology, or athletics.

Latina novelist Alma Huebner is suffering from writer's block and is years past the completion date for yet another of her bestselling family sagas. Her husband, Richard, works for a humanitarian organization dedicated to the health and prosperity of developing countries and wants her help on an extended AIDS assignment in the Dominican Republic. But Alma begs off joining him: the publisher is breathing down her neck. She promises to work hard and follow him a bit later. The truth is that Alma is seriously sidetracked by a story she has stumbled across. It's the story of a much earlier medical do-gooder, Spaniard Francisco Xavier Balmis, who in 1803 undertook to vaccinate the populations of Spain's American colonies against smallpox. To do this, he required live "carriers" of the vaccine. Of greater interest to Alma is Isabel Sendales y G mez, director of La Casa de Exp sitos, who was asked to select twenty-two orphan boys to be the vaccine carriers. She agreed-- with the stipulation that she would accompany the boys on the proposed two-year voyage. Her strength and courage inspire Alma, who finds herself becoming obsessed with the details of Isabel's adventures. This resplendent novel-within-a-novel spins the disparate tales of two remarkable women, both of whom are swept along by machismo. In depicting their confrontation of the great scourges of their respective eras, Alvarez exposes the conflict between altruism and ambition. Julia Alvarez's new novel, Afterlife, is available now.

From the international bestselling author of In the Time of the Butterflies and Afterlife, How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents is "poignant...powerful... Beautifully captures the threshold experience of the new immigrant, where the past is not yet a memory." (The New York Times Book Review) Julia Alvarez's new novel, The Cemetery of Untold Stories, is coming April 2, 2024. Pre-order now Acclaimed writer Julia Alvarez's beloved first novel gives voice to four sisters as they grow up in two cultures. The Garc a sisters--Carla, Sandra, Yolanda, and Sof a--and their family must flee their home in the Dominican Republic after their father's role in an attempt to overthrow brutal dictator Rafael Trujillo is discovered. They arrive in New York City in 1960 to a life far removed from their existence in the Caribbean. In the wondrous but not always welcoming U.S.A., their parents try to hold on to their old ways as the girls try find new lives: by straightening their hair and wearing American fashions, and by forgetting their Spanish. For them, it is at once liberating and excruciating to be caught between the old world and the new. Here they tell their stories about being at home--and not at home--in America. "Alvarez helped blaze the trail for Latina authors to break into the literary mainstream, with novels like In the Time of the Butterflies and How the Garc a Girls Lost Their Accents winning praise from critics and gracing best-seller lists across the Americas."--Francisco Cant , The New York Times Book Review "A clear-eyed look at the insecurity and yearning for a sense of belonging that are a part of the immigrant experience . . . Movingly told." --The Washington Post Book World

Celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2024, internationally bestselling author and literary icon Julia Alvarez's In the Time of the Butterflies is "beautiful, heartbreaking and alive ... a lyrical work of historical fiction based on the story of the Mirabal sisters, revolutionary heroes who had opposed and fought against Trujillo." (Concepci n de Le n, New York Times) Alvarez's new novel, The Cemetery of Untold Stories, is coming April 2, 2024. Pre-order now It is November 25, 1960, and three beautiful sisters have been found near their wrecked Jeep at the bottom of a 150-foot cliff on the north coast of the Dominican Republic. The official state newspaper reports their deaths as accidental. It does not mention that a fourth sister lives. Nor does it explain that the sisters were among the leading opponents of Gen. Rafael Le nidas Trujillo's dictatorship. It doesn't have to. Everybody knows of Las Mariposas--the Butterflies. In this extraordinary novel, the voices of all four sisters--Minerva, Patria, Mar a Teresa, and the survivor, Ded --speak across the decades to tell their own stories, from secret crushes to gunrunning, and to describe the everyday horrors of life under Trujillo's rule. Through the art and magic of Julia Alvarez's imagination, the martyred Butterflies live again in this novel of courage and love, and the human costs of political oppression. "Alvarez helped blaze the trail for Latina authors to break into the literary mainstream, with novels like In the Time of the Butterflies and How the Garc a Girls Lost Their Accents winning praise from critics and gracing best-seller lists across the Americas."--Francisco Cant , The New York Times Book Review "This Julia Alvarez classic is a must-read for anyone of Latinx descent." --Popsugar.com "A gorgeous and sensitive novel . . . A compelling story of courage, patriotism and familial devotion." --People "Shimmering . . . Valuable and necessary." --Los Angeles Times "A magnificent treasure for all cultures and all time." --St. Petersburg Times "Alvarez does a remarkable job illustrating the ruinous effect the 30-year dictatorship had on the Dominican Republic and the very real human cost it entailed."--Cosmopolitan.com
The Monumental Reliefs of the Elamite Highlands
The Monumental Reliefs of the Elamite Highlands documents and analyzes for the first time a corpus of eighteen monumental highland reliefs from the Elamite civilization in ancient Iran, which—hitherto preserved by their remote location and anonymous existence—have recently become imperiled by an influx of tourists and the development of the surrounding landscapes. With this book, Javier Álvarez-Mon aims to safeguard this important part of Iran’s cultural heritage. The eighteen reliefs presented in this volume are spread across the valley of Izeh/Malamir (Xong-e Azdhar, Shah Savar, Shekaft-e Salman, and Kul-e Farah), the Ghale Tol plain (Qal-e Tul), the Mamasani Fahliyan river region (Kurangun), and the Marvdasht plain (Naqsh-e Rustam). In his analysis of these reliefs, Álvarez-Mon draws from the complementary disciplines of art history and archaeology, giving equal weight to the archaeological context of these artifacts and traditional methods of artistic analysis in order to determine the nature and significance of each artifact’s form and theme. At the same time, the book’s dual emphases on ritual-religious and aesthetic-ecological phenomena respond to the contemporary challenges of the dissociation of human existence from nature and the commodification of the environment on an unsustainable scale, presenting the preservation of this remarkable corpus of monumental art as a matter of urgency.Richly illustrated with hundreds of color photographs and line drawings, The Monumental Reliefs of the Elamite Highlands is sure to become an invaluable reference to scholars who study the Elamite and other ancient civilizations.
