Geriatri er den første dansksprogede lærebog, som primært henvender sig til læger og medicinstuderende med interesse for det geriatriske speciale. Bogen kommer hele vejen rundt om geriatrien - fra specialets udvikling og organisering til demografi, alderdomsafgrænsning og de særlige forhold man ser hos den geriatriske patient. Herudover rummer bogen en række organspecifikke kapitler og kapitler om geriatriske syndromer. Det geriatriske speciales opgave er primært diagnostik og behandling af akut indlagte ældre med komplekse sygdomsbilleder, på grund af multimorbiditet, polyfarmaci og nedsat funktionsevne. Opgaven varetages først og fremmest på hospitaler i tæt samarbejde med de øvrige specialer og med hyppig inddragelse af almen praksis og kommunernes hjemmepleje. De fleste klinisk arbejdende læger og sygeplejersker vil derfor jævnligt møde ældre patienter med geriatriske problemstillinger. Teksten bygger på ekspertviden om, hvordan udredning og behandling af ældre patienter bedst tilrettelægges under hensyn til de særlige forhold, der gør sig gældende for patientgruppen. Bogen giver – med gennemgang af normale, fysiologiske aldersforandringer i forskellige organer – den nødvendige forudsætning for at forstå eventuelle sygdomstegn fra det enkelte organ, og for at kende mulige aldersrelaterede begrænsninger i resten af kroppen i forbindelse med behandling. Målgruppen er først og fremmest læger og medicinstuderende med interesse for området og alment praktiserende læger. Også sygeplejersker, der hyppigt har kontakt til ældre patienter med komplekse problemstillinger på hospital såvel som i primær sektor, kan have stor glæde af bogen.

Hans Blix, en av Sveriges internationellt mest kända folkrättsjurister och mest framstående ämbetsmän, med åtskilliga viktiga nationella och internationella uppdrag, fyllde 85 år i juni 2013. Med anledning av detta hölls ett seminarium i Utrikespolitiska Institutets lokaler i Stockholm den 10 september 2013 där vänner och kollegor till Blix hyllade hans mång-facetterade och betydelsefulla arbete. Anförandena berörde olika delar av folkrätten och internationella relationer där Blix genom sina handlingar och skrifter otvivelaktigt har lämnat ett avtryck. Temat för seminariet var de internationella framtidsfrågorna och talarna fick ge sina visioner av framtiden inom de områden där Hans Blix särskilt varit engagerad. Utgångspunkten för dessa framtidsvisioner var den utveckling som skett i världspolitiken och i folkrätten under den tid som Hans Blix har varit verksam; en utveckling som han framgångsrikt har påverkat. Hans insiktsfulla och opartiska kommentarer om diverse internationella, kontroversiella frågor har gjort honom till en mycket trovärdig och respekterad bedömare långt utanför Sveriges gränser. Denna samling innehåller samtliga bidrag från det nämnda seminariet. Förutom Michael Sohlmans inledning och Ove Brings presentation av Hans Blix som folkrättsjurist, berör bidragen bl.a. frågor om internationellt miljöskydd, energi, svensk säkerhetpolitik, militär intervention, rätten till demokrati och nedrustning. Nato in maniera assolutamente imprevista, dall'incontro fortuito con uno skipper australiano a caccia di un compagno per lanciarsi in un'avventura velica nelle vastit del Pacifico, intrapreso dall'autore con una massiccia dose sia di entusiasmo che di incoscienza, fin dall'inizio il periplo si rivela uno specchio dei due membri dell'equipaggio. Le traversate oscillano tra l'eroico e il rocambolesco, passando per tempeste senza misericordia e immobili calme piatte, su immensit liquide apparentemente sconfinate, per approdare alfine su incantevoli lidi di isole esotiche. Il viaggio porta a scalare vulcani esplosivi e a contemplare laghi di lava in ebollizione, a esplorare i reef pi spettacolari e a finire a nuotare a tu per tu con squali, mante, testuggini, dugonghi e intimorenti balene. La rotta seguita da Sansabaar, il nome del vascello, passa per la Nuova Caledonia, Vanuatu, Isole Salomone, Papua, per poi rientrare nel Queensland australiano, ma sconfina nel tempo quando incrocia quelle di marinai del passato; dai Lapita precursori dei Polinesiani, ai navigatori europei di Rinascimento e Illuminismo, fino alle flotte americane e giapponesi che si sono date battaglia in queste acque durante la seconda guerra mondiale.Il racconto avvincente e avventuroso, poetico e informativo, e inevitabilmente umoristico. Infatti l'entusiasmo che porta ad accettare la scommessa di intraprendere un simile viaggio, pi forte solo dell'incoscienza di gettarsi incontro all'oceano con esperienze veliche limitate, e della follia di una permanenza in barca per quasi quattro mesi praticamente con uno sconosciuto. Ma questa occasione unica acchiappata al volo malgrado tutto, alla fine premia ambedue gli intrepidi marinai con il dono delle meraviglie pi spettacolari di questo pianeta e con la nascita di una vera amicizia. Quest'opportunit inaspettata diventa un vero golden ticket, un biglietto non solo per intraprendere il periplo del Mar dei Coralli, ma anche per un radicale cambio di rotta nella propria esistenza, verso il perseguimento dei sogni "impossibili" e il coronamento delle vere aspirazioni personali.

Examples on the use of the proposed controllers are also provided. The first full-length study for forty years, Arcangelo Corelli offers a much needed reassessment of the seminal composer's life and works. His current historical perspective is still largely conditioned by the opinions of Burney and Hawkins in the late 18th century who saw him as the consolidator of past trends rather than an instigator--a view fully endorsed in the two biographies of the present century. Neither of these writers was truly in a position to make such judgements if only because neither was aware of the contributions of the Roman School to which Corelli emphatically affirmed his allegiance. Extensive archival research over recent years now dispels much of the anecdote and hearsay accumulated over the centuries and makes possible a more balanced evaluation of Corelli's true status in the development of the prime instrumental genres, accounting for his phenomenal success both during his lifetime and in the creation of musical canon in the decades after his death.
