In this delightfully charming teen spin on You've Got Mail, the one guy Bailey Rydell can't stand is actually the boy of her dreams--she just doesn't know it yet. Classic movie buff Bailey "Mink" Rydell has spent months crushing on a witty film geek she only knows online by "Alex." Two coasts separate the teens until Bailey moves in with her dad, who lives in the same California surfing town as her online crush. Faced with doubts (what if he's a creep in real life--or worse?), Bailey doesn't tell Alex she's moved to his hometown. Or that she's landed a job at the local tourist-trap museum. Or that she's being heckled daily by the irritatingly hot museum security guard, Porter Roth--a.k.a. her new arch-nemesis. But life is whole lot messier than the movies, especially when Bailey discovers that tricky fine line between hate, love, and whatever-it-is she's starting to feel for Porter. And as the summer months go by, Bailey must choose whether to cling to a dreamy online fantasy in Alex or take a risk on an imperfect reality with Porter. The choice is both simpler and more complicated than she realizes, because Porter Roth is hiding a secret of his own: Porter is Alex...Approximately.

A chauffer's daughter finds herself in the middle of a love triangle with the sons of her boss's wealthy next-door neighbors in this delightfully romantic story from the author of Alex, Approximately, Jenn Bennett. Love--and Fen Sarafian--do not care about your summer plans. Eighteen-year-old chauffeur's daughter Jane Marlow grew up among the domestic staff of a wealthy LA rock producer, within reach of bands she idolizes, but never a VIP. Every summer, Jane and her father head to the Sierras to work at the producer's luxury lodge at Lake Condor--a resort town and the site of a major musical festival. The legendary family who runs the festival are the Sarafians, and Jane's had a longtime crush on their oldest son, Eddie--doltish but sweet. So, when a long-distance romance finally sparks between them, she doesn't hesitate to cross class lines. But Jane's feelings for Eddie are thrown into question after she returns to the lake and reconnects with his alluringly intense brother, the dark horse of her placid summer plans. A fellow lover of music--and hater of the game--Fen Sarafian has been ousted from the family and is slumming it at a vinyl record shop. He burns for Jane like a house on fire and will do anything to sabotage his older brother, even if it means taking a wrecking ball to a multi-million-dollar music festival. Or Jane's heart.

"Palms on the Cape is a page turning, delicious escape with a main character you can't help but root for, a charming slow-burn friends-to-lovers romance, an enviable found family, and a touch of intrigue. I loved it " -Meredith Schorr, author of Roommating After a tumultuous childhood with a mother she describes as "a train wreck compounded by a dumpster fire that smelled like cheap perfume," Rachel Sinclair has made a life for herself. On the verge of turning forty, her upscale beach bar-Palms on the Cape-is packed with vacationers and regulars throughout the busy Cape Cod summer season. She has surrounded herself with a chosen family of devoted staff and great friends, including her best friend, Carlos...who she might be in love with. When a visiting study group from a Vermont business school, known as the A-List, descends on Rachel's bar in late August, she gets pulled in by the charms of their leader, Tripper, a younger man with good looks, access, and tremendous connections in the restaurant industry. Coming of Age: Identity Quests and the Adolescent Other in America's Television Culture
Jenn Burton is a professor of American Studies at California State University, Fullerton. Her love of teen television shows and deep desire to explore themes of authenticity, representation, and cultural influences led to the writing of this book over a timespan of two decades. As a student of American Studies, the initial research for this book was conducted as part of her graduate program, and completed decades later as a true testament to the lasting effect of cultural artifacts on our sense of identity and self. In her courses, Jenn loves digging deep into the subculture of adolescents, impact of media and pop culture, and the role of women throughout the American experience. This book takes a close look at the ways in which television dramas of the late 1990s and early 2000s represented teenagers as outsiders, and how that messaging has shifted in the 2020s. Yet, the identity questing of teens remains as a focal point, as authenticity and a sense of self have become even more saturated in outside opinions through social media and influencer celebrity.

Ruby has always been Ruby Chertok: future classical pianist and daughter of renowned composer Martin Chertok. But after her horrendous audition for the prestigious music school where her father is on faculty, it’s clear that music has publicly dumped her. Now Ruby is suddenly just . . . Ruby. And who is that again? All she knows is that she wants away from the world of classical music for good. Oscar is a wunderkind, a musical genius. Just ask any of the 1.8 million people who’ve watched him conduct on YouTube - or hey, just ask Oscar. But while he might be the type who’d name himself when asked about his favourite composer and somehow make you love him more for it, Oscar is not the type to jeopardise his chance to study under the great Martin Chertok - not for a crush. He’s all too aware of how the ultra-privileged world of classical music might interpret a black guy like him falling for his benefactor’s white daughter. But as the New York City summer heats up, so does the spark between Ruby and Oscar. Soon their connection crackles with the same alive, uncontainable energy as the city itself. Can two people still figuring themselves out figure out how to be together? Or will the world make the choice for them?
