In Judith Roitman's Shard, koan-like couplets stream through the open space of the page like moments in a day, by turns or all at once tragic and comic, vast and infinitesimal, mundane and surreal: They scooped out half your body. / Conglomerates stride the earth. As readers we may ride these moments into our own transient noticings: Oh God it's that bird again / hammering away against the tree. Savoring Roitman's nuanced repetitions and variations in syntax, case, tense, tone, and topic, we may ponder the movement of experience and thought into language: the sounding of words, making of marks, reading and rereading of marks in a process that multiplies meanings: Cows drop / against the knife. // Herons rise / from the fog. We may open toward the all-of-us making gestures, sounds, and marks to send back and forth amongst ourselves. In confusion and wonder, in love and rage, in terror, grief, and awe, with judgments and sometimes beyond them, we may find ourselves here, for now, participating. Bring me my crutches. / Feed me my silk. -- Sarah Rosenthal
SHARED INNOCENCE: On a hot summer night in Tampa, Florida, ten-year-old Jack Burcher witnesses his mother's abduction. No one listens to him, not even the police. The next night Jack returns to his nest in the field of wildflowers by his house. This time Jack watches the sinister visitor place a box at the estate gates. Only his mother's heart is returned to the family. Thirty-three years pass with no answers. Then Jack's ailing father is taken from his bed at a high-security sanitorium. The next night Jack hears a familiar sound at the gates of the Burcher estate. He watches someone place another box in the same place where his mother's box was placed. Jack holds his father's brain in his trembling hands. But this time is very different. This time it is Dr. Jack Burcher and he is the Chief Medical Examiner of Hillsborough County. The FBI knows they are hunting the worst kind of serial killer--a multigenerational monster. The FBI must now investigate three generations of Burcher family deaths disguised to be anything but a homicide. They must find where the kill-trail begins. And the FBI now must talk to their only eyewitness, the ten-year-old boy with suppressed fears and pent-up rage. Time is running out as SHARED INNOCENCE shines a light in a very dark place. And the Medical Examiner is now in the killer's sights.
This book is a contribution to scholarship in the field of religious education. Its aim is simple: to offer a critical perspective on the nature of religious education in the light of contemporary developments in Catholic thinking in catechesis and wider thinking in education. The issues raised in the book will provide ample material for fruitful dialogue and constructive debate in the world of Catholic education.Part One revolves around four historical contexts selected specifically to illuminate contemporary developments in the field. While these historical periods have porous boundaries, they offer a working structure in support of the core claims of the book.Part Two explores the complex genealogy of the relationship between catechesis and Religious Education. Key thematic frames of reference within which the relevant Magisterial documents and associated academic literature are set out and explored chronologically thus allowing for some cross-referencing across the themes: unsurprisingly the range of the issues for debate resists a neat packaging within specific time-frames but does provide a helpful working structure. Part Three proposes that a Spirituality of Communion should underpin the Church's work in catechesis, education and Religious Education.Shared Mission seems to be a satisfactory articulation of the necessary dialogic relationship between both fields and offers a suitable space for both distinction and reciprocity. The revised edition contains an appendix on the Global Compact on Education.
The second book of an exciting trilogy where an astronaut, nicknamed Nuke, working on an interstellar gate, is accidently thrown so deep into the universe that there is no way for him to get home. He does, however, find life on multiple planets whose citizens look very different from him. Two additional planets are visited to try and reunite each alien clan from each planet. He now works with two planets whose cultures have become intertwined and codependent. Every step he takes seems to lead toward a schism than a uniting of these two worlds. Will he be able to help them come together and prepare for Erabon's return, their deity? Or will his actions lead them instead into civil war?
In our timeline, the Twin Towers attack was a horrific but isolated terrorist event. Not in Kaia's.In the two decades since that day, the attacks have escalated - and so have the attempts at bringing it all under control.Already living in a society of constant scrutiny and fear, Kaia finds her old life completely destroyed when a routine trip ends with her accused of terrorism and dragged into a new and high stakes world. It is a world of lost children and covert ops, and of people with the power to alter the elements themselves, from creating tornadoes of oxygen to shifting the carbon in pencil lead into diamonds.Dropped in the middle of this globe-spanning conflict, Kaia could find everything she ever wanted, or she could lose more than she ever thought possible. And so could everyone else. SHARD tells a complete story and is the first volume in an exciting new YA Sci-fi trilogy. It is told in third person from multiple POVs in its diverse cast.A story filled with heart, humor, suspense, and action, SHARD is perfect for fans of Marvel and Mission: Impossible.
Ages ago, sorcerers created a new sun to replace their dying one. When a shard of the sun falls to the earth, more than one takes notice. And some have intentions more wicked than others.A powerful wizard seeks the means to defy death and heal his broken body. The Necromancer is set on getting the justice that was never given.Amidst everything, the shard falls into the hands of an unsuspecting woodsman named Broderick.Miracles begin to happen at his touch. The dead are raised and the sick are healed. When his cousin's wife is captured, he sets out to rescue her and bargain the shard for her freedom. But nothing is as it seems and no one can be trusted, least of all the one he travels with.

Despite the challenges of transitioning and missing her friends, she values the experiences that living abroad provided. This period of transition taught her the importance of fostering a sense of belonging within the educational community for everyone.Dr. Tiffany McMillian Burks considers herself wise not solely due to her educational experiences but also recognizes that God granted her the opportunity to live through these experiences. She acknowledges that without His presence, the peace to navigate these challenges would not have been possible.Although her beautiful mother had only one child, a decision she's grateful for, it allowed Dr. Tiffany McMillian Burks to rest during her childhood as an only child before raising her 5 beautiful children with the help of family and friends. Dr. Burks also acknowledges the blessing of having wonderful brothers and sisters in the body of Christ.
I'm in love with Val Russo, but if I tell him the truth, everything between us will change and I refuse to let that happen.BARCLAYEver since college, I've kept everyone at a distance. Receiving a wedding invitation from the man who helped build my walls with his infidelity is a strong reminder why. I'm not deserving of the love my friends have found, so I know better than to go looking for it. But they're on to something when they tease me about my long-term friend with benefits. I can't stand the idea of losing Val when he realizes I'm not the man he thinks I am, so it's better for me to keep things the same as they've always been.***Desperate times call for desperate measures, and I know the only way to prove to Barclay how good we are together is to break things off with him...whether I like it or not.VALJust because our relationship is open doesn't mean Barclay isn't enough for me. The casual physicality of our relationship has become normal, but as the years wear on, I find myself wanting more. I've seen the cracks in his armor and know he feels the same, even though he won't admit it. I've had feelings for him since the start, and I realize the only way to get what I want is to call his bluff. Our situation has always had an open door to the bedroom, but if he thinks he'd be okay with me seeing other people outside of those four walls, I'm ready to put him to the test. Meeting Jason is unexpected, but welcome, and apparently he's just the thing Barclay needed to take action. I've had no idea how deep Barclay's feelings go, and as he spills them out to me one by one, I fall a little more in love. Suddenly, there's a rich future on the table that I'd never imagined, not even in my wildest dreams. Now we're together and everyone knows it. He's ready to give me anything-and anyone-to keep me happy. I don't know how he spent so long thinking he wasn't worthy of this kind of happiness. His heart has so much to give and I'm always willing to take, so we're faced with no option except to share.
Shared-Memory Parallelism Can Be Simple, Fast, and Scalable

Parallelism is the key to achieving high performance in computing. However, writing efficient and scalable parallel programs is notoriously difficult, and often requires significant expertise. To address this challenge, it is crucial to provide programmers with high-level tools to enable them to develop solutions easily, and at the same time emphasize the theoretical and practical aspects of algorithm design to allow the solutions developed to run efficiently under many different settings. This thesis addresses this challenge using a three-pronged approach consisting of the design of shared-memory programming techniques, frameworks, and algorithms for important problems in computing. The thesis provides evidence that with appropriate programming techniques, frameworks, and algorithms, shared-memory programs can be simple, fast, and scalable, both in theory and in practice. The results developed in this thesis serve to ease the transition into the multicore era.The first part of this thesis introduces tools and techniques for deterministic parallel programming, including means for encapsulating nondeterminism via powerful commutative building blocks, as well as a novel framework for executing sequential iterative loops in parallel, which lead to deterministic parallel algorithms that are efficient both in theory and in practice. The second part of this thesis introduces Ligra, the first high-level shared memory framework for parallel graph traversal algorithms. The framework allows programmers to express graph traversal algorithms using very short and concise code, delivers performance competitive with that of highly-optimized code, and is up to orders of magnitude faster than existing systems designed for distributed memory. This part of the thesis also introduces Ligra , which extends Ligra with graph compression techniques to reduce space usage and improve parallel performance at the same time, and is also the first graph processing system to support in-memory graph compression. The third and fourth parts of this thesis bridge the gap between theory and practice in parallel algorithm design by introducing the first algorithms for a variety of important problems on graphs and strings that are efficient both in theory and in practice. For example, the thesis develops the first linear-work and polylogarithmic-depth algorithms for suffix tree construction and graph connectivity that are also practical, as well as a work-efficient, polylogarithmic-depth, and cache-efficient shared-memory algorithm for triangle computations that achieves a 2–5x speedup over the best existing algorithms on 40 cores. This is a revised version of the thesis that won the 2015 ACM Doctoral Dissertation Award.

Shared Wisdom from an Intuitive Spirit is a collection of intuitive messages shared for those who are seeking guidance and higher wisdom. Each message in this book comes for many people. For many ask the same questions. They have the same concerns; the same doubts; the same worries. All are looking for answers, for guidance, for some inner wisdom from a higher place. Many have found this book helpful as a source to help guide the day or as a base for deeper meditation.
Using imagination in meditation can connect people to the Divine and to each other and can deepen the spiritual experiences of daily life. Shared Imagination delves into that notion, offering a creative and experiential channel to the Divine and describing the surprising ways this process can blossom in peoples lives. The work centers on personal stories of spiritual encounters as told, with permission, by the women and men who have entered the world of prayerful imagining. These encounters, or shared imaginations, arose in a variety of settings: individual and group meditation meetings, recounted dreams, shared spiritual experiences, imaginative conversations with God, letters written to holy people of the past, and some mystical traveling conversations. The stories illustrate the interlacing of an individuals imagination with that of the Divine. Instructions on how to form and facilitate an imaginative meditation group are interspersed between the stories and detailed in three appendices. Arising from author Mary Ann Archers experiences as a professional musician and spiritual director, this collection of personal spiritual narratives presents an exploration of the use of imagination in meditation for a clearer connection with the Divine.

The Eco-Societal Impact Assessment process is a judicious cooperative Shared Success Analysis, 'User Pays', methodology inviting all project stakeholders to conduct meaningful empirical reviews utilising the Community-Industrial Partnership Review System (CIR), Community Eco-Societal Impact Assessment (community and bonafide stakeholders) and, the Industrial EcoMining(R) Eco-Societal Impact Assessment (industry proponents and bonafide stakeholders). The assemblies independently conduct their own Eco-Societal Impact Assessments, following which they engage in a cooperative, third party mediated gap analysis, and should the data deliver an agreed empirically justified risk assessed approach, the delivery of a draft Eco-Societal Impact Assessment with the intent to present an Eco-Societally beneficial agreed project to the government and greater society.
