Throughout the years in all the corners of the world, we were all raised in different types of religion, may it be in learning about God, the Virgin Mary, the saints like Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Saint Anthony, Saints Lazaro, Saint Michael of Archangel, God's right hand man, and so on. Way before that, there were gods and goddesses of the heaven, like Zeus, Poseidon, Aphrodite, Hephaestus, Ares, and many more. But if you come to see, there are the same gods, goddesses, and saints, but with different names, like Hades, who is, in our time, called Lucifer, the Devil. We also call the saints the seven African power like Chango, Ochen, Orula, Yemaya, Obatala, Ogun, and Elegua. Olofi is another name for Jesus, but they do run by many names. People nowadays worship the gods, goddesses, and saints through witchcraft, Wicca, which is not all bad. They just have different beliefs in how to worship them. We also worship them in churches, temples, and in our homes. If you come to see, God is everywhere; you just have to find him in your heart. He's always there when you need him, and his word of advice is "nobody is perfect." This story is based on love, romance, the supernatural, good versus evil, and how the gods, goddesses, and saints got together and gifted a child that crossed over too many times to fight right alongside of them without anyone noticing it. Along the way, she makes many mistakes and helps everyone she meets. She is one of many God's angels. She's also a witch, but in a different way not what you expected. Iris is tall, slender, light complexion, has long brunette hair, and the most beautiful light-brown eyes you will ever see. She was born on Hallow Eve, right on midnight; her destiny leads her to an adventure she will never forget. She was gifted by the gods, goddesses, and saints to help people with their problem. Her mother realizes what she can do and gets scared, knowing if people find out, they will hurt her or, worse and other, will treat her differently. Her mother ends up binding her power in an early age so she can live a normal life, not realizing the consequence of her action. Only her family and some friends know her secret that she has helped along the way and kept it. Eventually Iris gets very sick at the age of eight. She is getting ready to pass away, but something happens that changes her destiny. Her mother realizes what she has done and has no choice, but to give her back to the gods, goddesses, and saints. To save her life knowing what she did, she asks for forgiveness, leaving herself in God's hand and promising not to interfere. Iris's world opens up in a different way, and once again, destiny interferes, changing her course, awaking her in a dangerous way. She goes through hell and back along the way and meets the most interesting people. She has a heart of gold, and danger follows her everywhere. She learns what friendship is, what betrayal is, and how people in this world possess the seven deadly sins and more. I hope you enjoy her story as much as I loved writing it. But beware, everything is not what it shows themselves to be, and Iris finds out the hard way.

The Southern States were settled by three great waves of emigration, -Cavalier, Scotch-Irish and Huguenot. - These types retain their characteristics to this day, perhaps, largely, because groups of relatives, friends or neighbors settled in one section and gave a dominant tinge in creed, and church, and custom. The sons and daughters of these families married, and creed and custom grew stronger from year to year. Thus the Scotch-Irish, a people of Scotch origin, though living in Ireland for many years before the American emigration, settled in certain parts of Virginia, North and South Carolina, and, what is now, East Tennessee, in great numbers and impressed their Presbyterian faith upon their posterity. In the chapters of this book examples will be given of each of these groups-Cavalier, Scotch-Irish and Huguenot. The early history of these well-known Southern families is here presented, being published, at least in collected form, for the first time. The compiler takes no credit for authorship, as genealogy is not a science of invention. The facts, however, are clearly stated, and in the case of each family each line may be brought down to the present day from the earliest settler in America. The Colonial, Revolutionary, War of 1812 and War Between the States record of each family is set forth succinctly. No space has been given to tradition, though many traditions in the families mentioned are interesting and doubtless could be followed up and proved. Many histories have been consulted and many family documents studied, only reliable records being used. Though the chief endeavor of these chapters is to show the Colonial or Revolutionary settler and his posterity, a brief line of his progenitors is given in some cases, as the origin of name and family is always interesting. Among those to whom credit must be given fur valuable assistance are: Robert A. J. Armstrong, S. G. Heiskall, Richard Lee Kelton who prepared the Kelton data and a portion of the Wear article; John A. Kelly, Mrs. Anna Belle Hardwick Brown, who prepared the Hardwick and Montgomery data; Mrs. J. P. Stephenson, who prepared the Donelson data; Mrs. C. R. Greer, who prepared the Rhea record; Mrs. Sally Strother Hollingsworth who prepared the Hollingsworth line; Mrs. Louise Wilson Reynolds who wrote the Bean, Magill, Carter and Williams, and a part of the Wear; Mrs. Alice Vance Robinson who wrote the Vance record; Mrs. Berths Brien who prepared the Brien and Holliday data; Mrs. Charles Polk McGuire who prepared the Shelby story; Miss Lucy M. Ball, Mrs. C. L. Hardwick, Mrs. J. E. Johnston; the late Oscar K. Lyle, the late James A. Caldwell, Mrs. Robert Houston. Stickley, Mrs. Metta Andrews Green. Mrs. A. S. Bowen, C. K. Hill, Mrs. Joseph C. Vance and others. Hundreds of histories, court records, Bibles and family documents have also been consulted. This volume, Volume II, includes genealogies of the families of Bean, Boone, Borden, Bryan, Carter, Davis, Donaldson, Hardwick, Haywood, Holliday, Hollingsworth, Houston, Johnston, Kelton, Magill, Rhea, Montgomery, Shelby, Vance, Wear, and Williams.

The history of John Sevier and his family is Interlocked with the history of thousands upon thousands of citizens of Tennessee and every other Southern State. A speaker said not long ago that no where else in the United States than in the mountains of Tennessee can a man address a crowd of two or three thousand people with not a foreign born hearer, or a hearer whose parents are foreign born. No where else are traditions so deeply ingrained of the pioneers. who won the land. The ancestors of every man and woman in the section participated with Sevier in the Winning of the West and were on more or less intimate terms with the Great Commander. Many of the things that are here set down will therefore be twice told tales, as around every fireside in, the mountains stories are still told of the prowess and courage of the Good Governor, Nollichucky Jack, of the beauty of Bonny Kate or the sweetness and bravery of Sarah Hawkins, who was the first Madame Sevier; of the charm of the Sevier girls and the bravery of the sons; of the heroic fortitude of Valentine Sevier III, and his sorrow of six sons and daughters killed by Indians; of the almost king-like reign of John Sevier in Tennessee and of the fact that, had he so desired, perhaps he might have truly reigned, a king, for the Spanish proposals were many and various. Yet, lest the knowledge of these things should pass as the generations go and lest the dates and names should become confused, these facts are gathered from many sources. Among those to whom credit must be given fur valuable assistance are: Charles Lyman Sevier, Robert A. J. Armstrong, Mrs. Eugene Coiled, Miss Kellogg, of the Wisconsin Historical Society, Custodian of the Draper papers, Mrs. Sessler Hoss, Elston Luttrell, Miss Augusta Bradford, of the Chattanooga Library, A. N. Turner, A. V. Goodpasture, William Drane, Miss Lucy M. Ball, Mrs. Sophia Hoss French, Charles Sevier, Mrs. Florence Underwood Eastman, John Trotwood Moore, Tennessee State Librarian, A. P. Foster, Assistant Tennessee State Librarian, Miss Cora Sevier, Mrs. Theodore Francis Sevier, Mrs. Louise Sevier Giddings, Mrs. Gray Gentry (Evelyn Sevier), the late Charles Bascom Sevier, Mrs. John Trotwood Moore, Daniel Vertner Sevier, Jr., Benjamin F. Wyley, W. H. Waddell, Mrs. Ruth Catherine Hoyt, Mrs. N. B. Pearman, Samuel Sevier Kirkpatrick, Fain Anderson, Miss Kate White, J. J. Brown, Mrs. G. L. Wing, Mrs. Ida Barclay Tucker, Mrs. William P. Bowdry, Mrs. M. W. Barney, Seldon Nelson, Mrs. Sabine, Miss Lucy M. Ball, and many other members of the family whose information and interest contributed so largely to the value of the record. This volume, Volume IV, consists of six parts and includes the following: The Sevier Family Antecedents and Emigration; William Sevier, the Emigrant and His Descendants; Valentine Sevier the Emigrant and His Descendants; Joanna Goode Sevier who Married Younger Landrum, Jr. and Her Descendants; Governor John Sevier His First Wife, Sarah Hawkins Sevier, and His Second Wife, Catherine Sherrill Sevier; and The Descendants of Governor John Sevier.

By: Zella Armstrong, Pub. 1933, reprinted 2022, 160 pages, soft cover, ISBN #978-1-63914-089-3. Even though Tennessee was not formed until after the Revolutionary War, she did have settlers of her current boundaries that show up within the North Carolina Rolls. This book is based on the Invalid Lists of 1806, which only awarded pensions to those who were disabled by reason of the War and the Pension Lists of 1818, 1832 and 1840. The reader will discover valuable information on several hundred pensioners within while providing information such as: name, age, date and place of birth, residence, date of the pension application, service record, names of all family members, and place or places of migration to and from, or within the State of Tennessee. Of special interest, it should be noted that the 1840 Pension List includes widows' applications. These widows were required to submit proof of marriage and children. Because of this, their applications provide a rich source of genealogical source material. This book has data on several hundred Revolutionary War veterans while documenting several thousand related family members.

How to approach or build a sound image from a completely unknown material? What decisions must the interpreter make to bring this image to life? In an attempt to answer these questions, Pianists and the Music of their Time: Facing the Unknown is based on a series of interviews with renowned pianists (Claude Helffer, Roy Howat, Ursula Oppens, Ian Pace, Anne Piret) responsible for the creation of works by Elliott Carter, Claude Debussy, André Riotte and Iannis Xenakis. The pianists' discourse is illustrated by musical examples, linking the visible, that’s to say, the score as a starting point and reference point, and the invisible, meaning the music transmitted by the composers to the performers. The individuality of their choices, and certain similarities, emerge: the combination of several analytical methods based on an unconventional approach; the implicit presence of gesture, crucial for the elaboration of the musical discourse in concert; the open-mindedness; the desire to discover the music composed around them; the availability to present it to the public. As these characteristics have been observed throughout history, a perspective is offered on the beginning of the 20th century, with the press of the time testifying to the important changes in musical language, but also in the criteria of listening and taste: by comparing the reactions and practices of the 20th and 21st centuries facing the unknown, the author guides the reader into the heart of a vast, unexplored universe of sound.

The Secret Parent: The hidden truths of life, parenting and childhood through the eyes of a Kids Life Coach
Kids Life Coach, Zelna Zeal, sheds light on the painful issue of what it means to have a fundamental choice taken away. The choice of being a biological parent. In this eye opening snapshot of her views on life, parenting and childhood she whispers out loud the secrets which previously held her back from finding and living her purpose fully. This gripping and poignant book reveals the previously hidden story behind her lonely and challenging healing journey through being childless, depressed and labelled as mentally ill. As she travels this road, she shares the interwoven stories of other peoples' children that she had the privilege of coaching. All of them have two things in common. They rebranded their childhood by learning how to make better choices relating to the parts of their lives they were able to control. These children were also the inspiration behind Zelna finding the strength to do the same. Full of uncomfortable truths, "The Secret Parent" shows you that your real worth is derived from who you choose to be even when life has different ideas for you.
