"Smith spins out a sensuous, sinuous psychological thriller that compels attention to the final line."—BooklistAmelie and Janet are in love with the same man: Janet's husband. One knows it; the other doesn't. Or does she?As bestselling novelist Amelie Ferrar knows, an affair with a married person is like a work of fiction: a kind of spy story with its rules and customs, negotiations and compromises, and many private rituals. But like any spy story, there will inevitably be a betrayal: something will slip, someone else will find out, someone may even die.As Amelie falls deeper into her obsession with the man she loves—and his wife—the line between the fiction she writes and the reality she lives begins to blur…and the twisted ending to this story is one that not even she could have seen coming.

Key features:Written by the scientist who named this parasite and was the first to set up proper diagnostic techniquesServes as the first ever book to provide information on the parasite structure, biology, pathogenesis, clinical signs, epidemiology, prevention, and control of neosporosisCovers both approaches toward preventing & controlling this disease: Developing an efficacious vaccine and sound cattle management practicesContains a wealth of illustrations, including many of the author's original photographs of the parasiteProvides basic information on immunologic and molecular aspects of the diseaseAbortion is a worldwide problem in the livestock industry accounting for annual economic losses of billions of dollars, and N. caninum is a major cause of it. Neosporosis is a newly recognized disease of animals. Until 1988 it was misdiagnosed as toxoplasmosis. Considerable progress in understanding the biology of neosporosis has been made in the last 30 years, resulting in more than 2,000 scientific publications. The economic importance of abortion in cattle, and the availability of knowledge, reagents, and technology used to study toxoplasmosis, have contributed to the rapid progress in understanding the biology of neosporosis. Written by pioneers in this field, Neosporosis in Animals presents a comprehensive summary of the biology of neosporosis, starting with chapter 1 on the historical background of the discovery of the disease. Subsequent chapters deal with general aspects of the biology of N. caninum (chapter 2), techniques (chapter 3), and the disease caused by this parasite in cattle (chapter 4), dogs (chapter 5), and all other animals including sheep, pigs, primates and humans (chapters 6-18).This book provides, for the first time in a single authoritative source, a complete account of the structure, biology, clinical disease, diagnosis, epidemiology, treatment, attempts at immunoprophylaxis, and control in all hosts. There are 175 illustrations and tables devoted to the life cycle, structure of parasitic stages, and lesions. More than 2100 references are cited, allowing the reader to locate additional information on specific topics in an efficient way. This book will be useful to a broad range of researchers in biology and veterinarians.

SACRED KING, a historical fantasy novella about King Richard III, the battle of Bosworth, and its aftermath. In August, 1485, King Richard III rides on the hunt in Bestwood Park, near Nottingham, and sees a disturbing vision, a man being killed in ritualistic manner, his blood given to the hungry Land. Riding into Leicester with his army several days later, eager to face the invading Henry Tudor and defend his crown, he encounters yet more disturbing omens...the old woman Agnes Black upon Bow Bridge, who prophecies his head will strike the stone upon his return from the field. On the day of battle, the King is betrayed and loses his life in a heroic last charge, his blood falling on the red soil of Redemore Plain....but that is not the end.A Lady who walks between Heaven and Hell takes Richard Plantagenet to the Middle Kingdom, like the prophet Thomas the Rhymer many centuries before. Will he join her band of unearthly knights, or will he find a way to escape from what he sees as purgatory?Includes a climax featuring the latter day discovery of the body of Richard III in a car park in Leicester, on the actual anniversary of the King's burial at Greyfriars after Bosworth-the event of his 'return to the world' heralded by brooding storm clouds. A tale of sacrifice and redemption, weaving into the story not only the history of Richard III's final days, but various underlying legends and pieces of folklore connected with the event. SACRED KING is a fantasy, but perhaps most of all it is a story of hope. It tries to ascribe deeper meaning and a greater heroism using powerful archetypes such as The Doomed Hero, prevalent in stories millennia old.Revised Second Edition with NEW FINAL CHAPTER

As Stacey walked over to the alcohol the Sheriff turned slightly to check out the guy in the booth. At the same time, the guy in the booth looked his way and smiled, nodding his head as he did so. The Sheriff nodded back then returned to his forward position just in time to see Stacey placing his drinks on the bar. "Who is the guy in the booth?" the sheriff asked Stacey. "I don't know Joe; I've never seen him before?" "How long has he been there?" "Pretty much all this evening. Why what's going on?" "Nothing, I was just curious. When are you getting off Stacey?" the Sheriff asked. Stacey was one of those people who always thought the best of everyone, which is one of the reasons the Sheriff liked her so much. Everybody liked Stacey, which is why her bar was always full. Not only did she have a great personality she was a very intelligent woman. She had actually gone to Stanford University but had thought about going to MIT because of her fascination with computers. However, she stuck with Stanford and majored in computer programing with a minor in business. However, because of her highly above average skills, she was approached by a certain government official hearing of her prowess with computers. He had wanted her to work with a bunch headed for the Wright-Patt air force base, but she couldn't wait to get back to Carson City where a certain young man had been placed in the sheriff's department as their new deputy after leaving the air-force. The young and bright Joe Blackman. Now she had been there in Carson City for fifteen years and didn't regret a day of it. She hadn't even been disappointed the wedding had been called off eighteen years ago, it was all her fault anyway. Her father was dying, and her mother had already passed a year before and even though he had tried to make like he was ok, she knew her father was a total wreck. Joe hadn't even tried to stop her from leaving, not because he didn't care but because he loved her so much. Joe had even gotten close to her father when they had flown to California to give her mother and father the good news. She wasn't surprised how much her father liked Joe when he had met him because they both were military men. Her father never liked any of the young men she knew, which is why her parents sent her to stay with her auntie Mag. As her mind came back to the present, she noticed the guy in the booth simply because she knew it was a form of a new type of computer, she'd heard of but never seen. A portable computer a person could carry with them. Thinking about what Joe asked she responded, "I don't know...about eleven, I guess. What do you have in mind?" "I thought I'd take you over to Jose's to get some of that Mexican food." "Why?" Stacey asked. "Why don't we eat here tonight...we've got some of that golden fried chicken and onion rings you like so much, then we can go to my place and..." Just then Sheriff Blackman received a call on his two-way radio from one of his deputies. "Hold on Stacey I got to get this," he said as he got up from the stool he was seated on and walked toward the door of the bar opened it and walked outside. "Ok, Steward what's so urgent you have to disturb me now?" "Sheriff something terrible has happened, you need to come to see this...it's awful sheriff, I have never seen anything like this in my life. You just got to come and see."By this time the sheriff had started to get miffed. He hadn't even drunk none of his beverages yet. "Hold on Steward, calm down. What exactly is going on?" "It's Ms. Henderson Sheriff, she's dead."

This book talks about my encounter that I had with a Sasquatch while bow hunting in the Pacific Northwest. I've studied this large, elusive primate for many years and for the first time, I've decided to share my findings with the public Have you ever wondered why so many people believe in Bigfoot but can't figure out why there lacks any major hard evidence? Why are they so elusive and is there any hard forensic evidence that supports any real popular theories? PUBLISHED by CUSTOM BOOK PUBLICATIONS ... THE SCHIAPELLO CROSS...Santini watched in awe as his father took the Christ figure and laid it on the cross. With delicate manipulation of the plunger, he soldered the figure to the stem without allowing any excess molten gold to drip from the joint. Leaving the cross aside, he picked up the small golden band and with the same painstaking precision, attached a circle of diamonds, taking great care with each. The band was then fixed to the cross over the head of the crucified Christ. Finally, he soldered the red rubies to the body - one to each hand and another to the figure's feet. Now almost complete, he waited for the cross to cool before carefully placing it in the workshop safe. Santini knew the German officer who had commissioned the work, would soon call to collect the cross. What he did not know was that his father would never part with his masterpiece ... it was their heritage. It was the SCHIAPELLO CROSS A maelstrom of international murder and intrigue, something quite new to Detective Sergeant Scobie Tierney of the Irish police. But when it comes knocking on his door, there's no better man to take it on
