A Personal Essay on the History of Neonatal Nursing
'I have known Kaye for greater than 35 years. Although my paediatric career differed from Kaye's, I have very clear memories of those early days. I was struck by the pivotal, inspiring and ground-breaking work that those women were doing and the intense challenges the neonates presented. The neonatal care landscape was rapidly changing. Those pioneer nurses were riding a wave, forging ahead with great strides in developing such remarkable improvements in special 'care' practices for neonates. Those working lives and the camaraderie outlined here provided a foundation and this goes from strength to strength today. The book pays a remarkable tribute to not only Kaye and the development of neonatal nursing in Australia, but it also plots a significant national historical achievement, and it reflects Kaye's professional testimony. The memories outlined in this book, mark the contributions of so many other like-minded people both in Australia and internationally and is also a tribute to those people. Kaye's legacy will be long-lasting as so many nurses have benefited from her professional support, her enduring friendship, and her determined passionate nursing leadership style. I hope you enjoy the essays as much as I did. Neonatal nurses should feel uniquely proud to have someone like Kaye in your midst and someone who has been a powerhouse pioneer for neonatal nursing in this country.'Fiona Wade

When Olive Dennis was young, girls were expected to be sewing, cooking, and cleaning. But Olive was busy imagining, designing, and building everything from a wooden dollhouse to a model streetcar with working parts. When she grew up, Olive continued to defy expectations, earning a civil engineering degree and becoming the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad's first female engineer. Her genius for inventing improvements based on her keen observations of passengers' needs and problems led her to the assignment of a lifetime: designing a luxury train that would change rail travel forever.

Getting Real: A Daring Quest to Thrive in Your Whole Story in Christ
Have you been aspiring to a false summit? Our life story is the tale of a great journey. As Christians, we've been victoriously privileged to become part of a powerful epic for eternity. Yet many wander, unable to find their way, lost in confusion because the eyes of the heart remain clouded by illusion and deceit. Despite trying harder to change, many Christians remain stuck in a largely unchanged story. They vow to break bad habits and wish to be more like Jesus, but status quo Christianity persists. Tragically, souls remain captive; the power of the church remains anemic; and well-intending people continue to survive, just going through the motions. Getting Real is your guidebook for beginning a daring journey to personal freedom and clarity. You don't have to settle for anything less than thriving in the full power of your whole story in Christ. Ten strategic quests will lead you to explore and personally apply the truth of God's Word in a mentor-led process. Deeply rooted barriers to victory will be revealed, and the real summit--the abundant life Jesus promised--will be attained. Get ready to: Discover the context and meaning of your life story Find your real identity and true purpose Experience healing instead of self-help Make an impact and leave a lasting legacy Join a band of Christ followers who are done with the norm of mediocrity. Change the course of your own story and your world by rising to the call of something greater--the cause of Christ and His plan for you in His kingdom. Your time is now. It begins with Getting Real.

At least you have the "good" cancer You go girl; you've got this Good for you--Now, you can use this as motivation What do you say to someone who has just been hit with the gut-punch of a cancer diagnosis, or in my case, stage III, aggressive breast cancer? How are we supposed to navigate the life-altering roller coaster rides of life with any amount of grace when all we really want to do is scream? When facing seemingly insurmountable challenges, how do we prevent ourselves from falling headfirst into the abyss of fear, doubt, mutilation, and yes . . . hopelessness? THIS IS MY STORY. No concretes. No panaceas. No prescriptive, five-step plan to deal with the fight of your life. I certainly don't have the answers. No one does. These are simply the unfiltered truths of my journey of harnessing a hidden warrior princess mentality to battle hurricane gale-force winds of adversity. Feel free to insert your own moniker for "cancer." We all encounter adversity. Sometimes it's a knock down, drag-out experience. How we wipe off the blood and iron out the kinks in our armor is what matters. That's what makes life, well . . . life. Let's navigate it together with a few giggles, eyebrow raises, and tears along the way. It's true. Together, we are better.

While working women have achieved much, the issues of the right to work, equal opportunities and rewards, healthy work environment, unionisation and, in particular, the problems of 'the double working life' are still very much alive. In Women at Work Kaye Hargreaves examines the crucial issues, many of them forcefully articulated in workers' own lively accounts. She shows that the dramatically increased participation of women in Australia 's paid workforce constitutes a major challenge to organisation in the workplace and to traditional attitudes about women's role in the society at large. The difficulties in the relationship between women's movement and the labour movement will be resolved only as women workers develop new forms of organisation which reach beyond the conventional confines of unionism to change fundamental social relationships. Women at Work also documents the emergence of this process during the past decade and points to directions for its further development.

No Longer Water is a collection of poems welcoming raw emotion regarding the process of aging mindfully into a truer self. Here, aging is regarded as a gift rather than a burden. In particular, a woman's personal journey from who she once was to who she is now. With growth, either physical or mental, there are aches and discomforts that hurt to the core. This collection allows the aches to blossom. Discomforts become fuel to grow without outside influence. The speaker is no longer looking outwardly but inwardly. In this journey through poetry, there is a momentous shift where the mind, body, and soul understands both the trials and challenges of maturity, along with the rewards. Ultimately, life is a gift. The journey is tranquil, enlightened, and blessed, even if the trail is muddy.
