Don't Blame Us

Don't Blame Us

Lily Geismer

Princeton University Press

Don't Blame Us traces the reorientation of modern liberalism and the Democratic Party away from their roots in labor union halls of northern cities to white-collar professionals in postindustrial high-tech suburbs, and casts new light on the importance of suburban liberalism in modern American political culture. Focusing on the suburbs along the high-tech corridor of Route 128 around Boston, Lily Geismer challenges conventional scholarly assessments of Massachusetts exceptionalism, the decline of liberalism, and suburban politics in the wake of the rise of the New Right and the Reagan Revolution in the 1970s and 1980s. Although only a small portion of the population, knowledge professionals in Massachusetts and elsewhere have come to wield tremendous political leverage and power. By probing the possibilities and limitations of these suburban liberals, this rich and nuanced account shows that--far from being an exception to national trends--the suburbs of Massachusetts offer a model for understanding national political realignment and suburban politics in the second half of the twentieth century.

Originally published in 1924, this study of the Don Juan legend is a powerful interpretation of one of the most popular themes in Western culture. Also valuable for the insights it offers into Rank's thought immediately before his break with Freud, the book has not been available in English until now. Rank's study draws on psychoanalysis, literature, history, and anthropology to suggest some psychological mechanisms that operate both within the principal characters of the legend and within the audience or reader. Originally published in 1975. The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. These editions preserve the original texts of these important books while presenting them in durable paperback and hardcover editions. The goal of the Princeton Legacy Library is to vastly increase access to the rich scholarly heritage found in the thousands of books published by Princeton University Press since its founding in 1905.

Are attacks from within the Kingdom paralyzing your ministry? Does your speech mirror the bitterness and hurt you feel? Do you constantly battle thoughts of retaliation? Most ministers of the gospel have been deeply offended by the people they seek to serve. If they do not properly address the spirit of offense, unclean spirits are enabled to gain access into their lives. When demons are permitted to affect one's thinking, it is not long before his speaking becomes affected as 3. For example, have you ever listened to preaching that was condemning and scolding of people who have personally offended the speaker? Have you ever heard ministers whine about their misfortunes? Upon hearing messages by people who yield to the aforementioned inclinations, have you noticed the shift in the sanctuaries of God--a shift from a sense of power to one of impotency? Many of our local ministries are weak and ineffectual, because Satan has robbed God's leaders of their zeal to preach the reconciliatory gospel of Jesus Christ. Don't Piss in My Sanctuary contains a pertinent admonition and comfort to those who have answered the call to speak on the behalf of Christ. Whether you are an interim, field, novel or seasoned minister, you will greatly benefit from the counsel of the Holy Spirit found within the parameters of this book. Cederick Moore shows you how to put gospel ministry into its proper perspective, identify common pitfalls, and resist the temptations of the devil to make you vengeful, bitter, and controlling. Apply these biblical principles of ministry ethics and reap the rewards of a successful and joyous assignment

Don't You Fall Now

Don't You Fall Now

Claudia Love Mair

Don't You Fall Now is a hauntingly beautiful family memoir that tells the story of how the author's eighteen-year-old son, Kamau Burney, survived a jump from a six story parking structure near the campus of the University of Kentucky. Kamau landed face first, shattering all the bones in his face, along with breaking his hip, clavicle, and neck. His survival was a miracle. Mair's story is a lyrical exploration of what it means for a mentally ill mother to care for a mentally ill and brain injured son. Told in sparse prose, the chapters are intentionally short, meditative, and intense. The result is a riveting story that is raw, real, and ultimately hopeful.

What if you were to adjust your course in life while you are living it -- where you don't have to hit a wall before you change course? After living a good portion of his life as an observer, author John Graziano began to reflect and look within himself. Eventually, realism kicked in. He grew aware that he, along with a good segment of our population, was living life with the constraints of social shackles. This caused him to view human behavior in an unconventional way.Don't Just Breathe: Life Lessons from My Massage Table is a fundamental, straightforward approach to learn and laugh by examining our lives and emotional journeys using personal stories of inspiration that anyone can relate to -- no matter what age, gender, profession, or personality. It addresses a profound and prevalent phenomenon in our society: why so many people are unhappy. It gives glimpses into the lives of the author's clients and the struggles they face -- often through entertaining anecdotes. It encourages you to look at your own life with a fresh lens, and it may even spark the necessary lifestyle adjustments you need to make.A portion of the proceeds from this book will be donated to the following: Integrative Touch for Kids, www.IntegrativeTouch.org and National Alliance on Mental Illness Southern Arizona (NAMI), www.namisa.org.

Don't Tell Me I Can't Do It!: Awaken the Entrepreneur Within
In his early teens, Jim Griffiths ran away from home and quit school. The original plan was to get a job and do his best to stay out of jail. Distracted by associating with people that knew how to win, Jim found himself in a position to quit what America defines as "working" at a fairly young age. He had no family money, he didn't break any laws, and he didn't win anything. Jim studied what people consider the "traits of an entrepreneur" and he adopted their habits. "Don't Tell Me I Can't Do It " is Jim's message about how the act of entrepreneurism is about business, yet the entrepreneur is a person. If you focus on building the person first, you will build a stronger enterprise.
Don't Die in the Pew: The Mystery of Israel and the Deception of Eternal Security
Has the modern Church forsaken the Holy Word of God for a "feel good" doctrine that fills seats but puts souls in peril? Today, many of Christianity's most uncomfortable topics are either ignored or misinterpreted. Don't Die in the Pew offer's a head-on, Scripture-based examination of many of the most controversial and confusing subjects within the modern Church. The author implores the Christian reader not to rely solely on man to interpret the Bible but to read and study for oneself to find the Truth. She demonstrates how Scripture can be misconstrued if not read and understood in context and in harmony with all related Scriptures.Don't Die in the Pew encourages the Christian reader to thoughtfully examine the surety of his or her salvation. The author takes the reader on a journey to find the rarely studied history of Israel and the early Church. She connects the dots of the Old and New Testament, and she uses Scripture to debunk the now popular "once saved, always saved" doctrine that is pervasive in many churches today. Don't Die in the Pew will surprise you and likely challenge long-held beliefs around thought-provoking questions such as: -What is the relevance of the Old Testament in today's world?-Why is what's happening in Israel important to Christian's and to the "end times"?-Is it possible to lose your salvation...is "Once Saved, Always Saved" a Biblical truth?-What is God's special relationship with Israel, a people He actually divorced? Jer 3:8We are all going to die a physical death, and most of us believe that we're going to spend eternity somewhere. So, what makes this book a must read? Quite simply, it could save your life, your eternal one. The author has a God-given message for the Church. This book urges the Church, both leaders and goers, to WAKE UP and discover that the Truth can only be found in Scripture. It implores Christians not to ignore God's written Word and warns that if you do, you may just die in the pew.Join the writer on a fascinating journey through Scripture as she seeks the absolute Truth.
