As Francine coaches Harold down the slope, he learns that the children who taunted him are less than they pretended. Harold gains skiing skill while he sees the value of trust, courtesy, respect and gratitude, and he feels the pride of accomplishment.Harold Skis the Steeps is filled with fast-moving action and puzzling predicaments that keep children interested and eager for the next page. While it entertains them, the story also shows children the problems of peer pressure and bullying. It demonstrates how positive character traits and good social skills can help them overcome difficult challenges. The book shows the advantages of trust, friendship and cooperation between young and old. It also encourages outdoor activity for the fun, companionship and sense of achievement it can bring to a child.
A forest fire is simmering when Harold rushes into the trees. He is chasing a squirrel, trying to retrieve roller blades that the squirrel is wearing, which belong to a doll. Bumbling toward the fire, Harold gets some advice from a crow that perches above him. But ultimately the child must wait for fire fighters who arrive, and for his parents who correct him, to learn the appropriate ways to respond to a wildfire. Colorfully and dynamically illustrated, Harold Whips a Wildfire starts with an ordinary neighborhood activity, two children at play together outdoors. It moves to a lesson in good manners as Harold franticly races to recover his friend's toys. The story quickly turns to the big theme of wildfires and their effects. It gives a lesson in forest-animal habitat and wildfire danger, and it guides a child to the best response to a fire. While pleasing children with a playful, rollicking tale, the book illustrates neighborliness, and it shows responsibility in several ways, including care for the environment and respect for first responders. Harold Whips a Wildfire is the fourth book of New England outdoor adventures featuring big-hearted but mischievous Harold. Like all Harold books, it is part of the White Mountain Children's Adventure series.

Harold Pinter provides an up-to-date analysis and reappraisal concerning the work of one of the most studied and performed dramatists in the world.Drawing extensively from The Harold Pinter Archive at the British Library as well as reviews and other critical materials, this book offers new insights into previously established views about his work. The book also analyses and reappraises specific key historical and contemporary productions, including a selection of Pinter’s most significant screenplays. In particular, this volume seeks to assess Pinter’s critical reputation and legacy since his death in 2008. These include his position as a political writer and political activist – from disassociation and neutrality on the subject until relatively late in his career when his drama sought to explicitly address questions of political dissent and torture by totalitarian regimes.
