Professional Development Schools offer P-12 schools and universities the opportunity to create rich learning environments for students, teacher candidates, teachers, university professors and administrators. The creation of Professional Development Schools requires careful thought and planning by leaders from both institutions who understand the importance of a systemic approach to gathering information that will allow them to build strong, sustainable partnerships. This book is a practical, hands-on guide to exploring and assessing school and university readiness and compatibility to pursue a PDS partnership. The Professional Development School Exploration and Assessment (PDSEA) Protocol provides surveys and focus group interview questions that facilitate the identification of P-12 school and teacher preparation program qualities, characteristics and perceptions to determine institutional compatibility. Collaborative discussion and PDS planning templates provide guidelines for planning new PDSs. Assessment instruments used with the PDSEA Protocol are available online. The authors offer unique insights into Professional Development Schools based on their experiences as educators in elementary, middle school, high school and as university professors who have been active in Professional Development Schools for 13 years. In this book, they share their insights and practical ideas about what it takes to develop viable and sustainable Professional Development Schools. Developed over a period of 8 years in a study that involved three universities and 13 partner schools, the PDSEA Protocol will assist teacher preparation programs, P-12 school districts and individual school sites as they explore, assess and plan school-university partnerships.
Reach for the Stars: 1996–2006: Fame, Fallout and Pop’s Final Party

A double-denim-loving time before the glare of social media and the accession of streaming. The bastions of '00s pop - armed with buoyant, immaculately crafted, carefree anthems - provided entertainment, escapism and fun for millions. It was a heady, chorus-heavy decade - populated by the likes of Steps, S Club 7, Blue, 5ive, Mis-Teeq, Hear'Say, Busted, Girls Aloud, McFly, Craig David and Atomic Kitten, among countless others - yet the music was often dismissed as inauthentic, juvenile, not 'worthy' enough: ultimately, a 'guilty pleasure'. Now, music writer Michael Cragg aims to redress that balance. Using the oral-history format, Cragg goes beneath the surface of the bubblegum exterior, speaking to hundred's of the key players about the reality of their experiences. Compiled from interviews with popstars, songwriters, producers, choreographers, magazine editors, record-company executives, TV moguls and more, this is a complete behind-the-scenes history of the last great movement in British pop - a technicolour turning-point ripe for re-evaluation, documented here in astonishing, honest and eye-opening detail.

Sustaining U.S. Army Operations in the Indo-Pacific: Potential Roles of Allies and Partners
Previous research has identified that logistics and sustainment shortfalls are a critical barrier to U.S. operational success in the Indo-Pacific. In this report, the authors identify five case countries (Australia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, and South Korea) and assess their potential to support the logistics and sustainment activities that are critical to the success of military operations.

This book discusses the diverse array of particles that are found in coatings from both a physical and a performance standpoint. It also describes the fundamentals of particle behavior and shows how these affect the performance and properties of their end-use applications. It consists of nineteen chapters, demonstrating the wide range of types of particles found in coatings as well as the diversity of the important attributes they hold. The authors also present a forward looking view of current issues and trends in the coatings industry. In addition, a chapter on the use of particles in paper laminate, a closely aligned field, is included. This book is of interest to formulators of any type of coatings as well as researchers in aligned fields that use high volumes of small particles, such as the plastics and paper industries.

Auflage.
A Concise Course on Stochastic Partial Differential Equations

A Concise Course on Stochastic Partial Differential Equations

These lectures concentrate on (nonlinear) stochastic partial differential equations (SPDE) of evolutionary type. All kinds of dynamics with stochastic influence in nature or man-made complex systems can be modelled by such equations. To keep the technicalities minimal we confine ourselves to the case where the noise term is given by a stochastic integral w.r.t. a cylindrical Wiener process. But all results can be easily generalized to SPDE with more general noises such as, for instance, stochastic integral w.r.t. a continuous local martingale. There are basically three approaches to analyze SPDE: the "martingale measure approach", the "mild solution approach” and the "variational approach". The purpose of these notes is to give a concise and as self-contained as possible an introduction to the "variational approach”. A large part of necessary background material, such as definitions and results from the theory of Hilbert spaces, are included in appendices.

This book gives a detailed overview of the theory of electromagnetic wave scattering on single, homogeneous, but nonspherical particles. Beside the systematically developed Green’s function formalism of the first edition this second and enlarged edition contains additional material regarding group theoretical considerations for nonspherical particles with boundary symmetries, an iterative T-matrix scheme for approximate solutions, and two additional but basic applications. Moreover, to demonstrate the advantages of the group theoretical approach and the iterative solution technique, the restriction to axisymmetric scatterers of the first edition was abandoned.

Monte Carlo Methods for Partial Differential Equations With Applications to Electronic Design Automation
The Monte Carlo method is one of the top 10 algorithms in the 20th century. This book is focusing on the Monte Carlo method for solving deterministic partial differential equations (PDEs), especially its application to electronic design automation (EDA) problems. Compared with the traditional method, the Monte Carlo method is more efficient when point values or linear functional of the solution are needed, and has the advantages on scalability, parallelism, and stability of accuracy. This book presents a systematic introduction to the Monte Carlo method for solving major kinds of PDEs, and the detailed explanation of relevant techniques for EDA problems especially the cutting-edge algorithms of random walk based capacitance extraction. It includes about 100 figures and 50 tables, and brings the reader a close look to the newest research results and the sophisticated algorithmic skills in Monte Carlo simulation software.
