The Jewish Labor Movement was a radical subculture that flourished within the trade union and political movements in the United States in the early part of the twentieth century. Jewish immigrant activists—socialists, communists, anarchists, and labor Zionists—adapted aspects of the traditions with which they were raised in order to express the politics of social transformation. In doing so, they created a folk ideology which reflected their dual ethnic/class identity. This book explores that folk ideology, through an analysis of interviews with participants in the Jewish Labor Movement as well as through a survey of the voluminous literature written about that movement.A synthesis of political ideology and ethnic tradition was carefully crafted by secular working-class Jewish immigrant radicals who rediscovered and reformulated elements of Jewish traditions as vehicles for political organizing. Commonly held symbols of their cultural identity—the Yiddish language, rituals such as the Passover seder, remembered narratives of the Eastern European shtetl, and biblical imagery—served as powerful tools in forging political solidarity among fellow Jewish workers and activists within the Jewish Labor Movement.

What Do History and Archaeology Really say about the origins of ancient Israel? Although the bible says that Israel's formative history took place in ancient Egypt, biblical scholars and Egyptologists have steadfastly refused to explore the role of Egyptian history and literature on the origins of Jewish religion. The Moses Mystery attempts to set the record straight. Based on extensive research into biblical and Egyptian history, archaeology, literature and mythology Greenberg argues that the first Israelites were Egyptians, followers of the monotheistic teachings of Pharaoh Akhenaten. Some of the many intriguing revelations in The Moses Mystery include: -Ancient Egyptian records specifically identify Moses as Akhenaten's chief priest and describe the Exodus as the result of a civil war for control over the Egyptian throne - Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob were characters from Egyptian mythology - The Twelve Tribes of Israel never existed
The Divine Source and World Unity: Selected Works of Adolph Moses for the 21st Century
Adolph Moses taught that the true religion of Moses is recognition of the one God for everyone everywhere, not a tribal religion forming the basis for an ethnic state in the Middle East. Moses emphasized the universal nature of Judaism and all true religion. He adopted the term "Yahvism" to emphasize his conviction that Judaism was neither a national nor a tribal religion. He wanted to attract non-Jews to Judaism, and he wanted to lure back Jews who had lost affection for their religion. Most of all he wanted to show that Judaism is a religion for all those who are interested in learning about it, and not a religion exclusively or even primarily for those born as Jews. His vision was a new Church of Humanity grounded in the universal vision of the biblical prophets and based on mutual respect, union and universal love. It is with his universal vision in mind that we present this selection of his writings edited into gender-neutral language, in recognition of Moses's desire to be a light to all people. This edition includes the 1885 Declaration of Principles that became the foundation of what came to be known as "Classical Reform Judaism", along with a new Introduction.
