This study of Edgar Reitz's 1984 film saga Heimat explores the cultural contexts of the Heimat tradition and examines the political debate surrounding the film's reception. Responses were largely supportive but some critics were disturbed by an apparent tendency to induce a sense of uncritical nostalgia in viewers. Reitz, by contrast, had wanted to make a film which would help people confront their memories of the Third Reich. The author tests hostile critiques not only against the film's elliptical narrative but also against Reitz's filmic techniques. She examines the interplay of realism and authenticity, and shows how Reitz dramatizes the confrontation between modernity and rural communities, while consciously alluding to the problematic and much-derided Heimat genre.

Richard Pococke's Letters from the East (1737-1740)
In Richard Pococke's Letters from the East (1737-1740), Rachel Finnegan provides edited transcripts of the full run of correspondence from Richard Pococke's famous eastern voyage from 1737-41. In this new volume, Finnegan combines updated biographical accounts of the traveller and his correspondents (his mother, Elizabeth Pococke and his uncle and patron, Bishop Thomas Milles) from vol. 1 of the original edition of Letters from Abroad (2011) with transcriptions of the letters from vol. 3 of the series (2013), together with new material that has hitherto been unpublished. Thus, in a single volume, she sets the context of the life and times of the traveller and his family against the background of this voluminous corpus of fascinating correspondence, which can be read in conjunction with Pococke's own published account of his travels, A Description of the East and Some Other Countries (1743-45).

Discover God's plan for Your Family-Something You've Never Been Told Before Did you know the "family" is introduced on the very first page of the Bible? And in the very last words of the Bible, the "family" closes the book when ALL the people of God say, "Amen " From beginning to end, the Holy Scriptures affirm the family as not just a human institution, but a divine design-one that is fundamental to God's plan for creation, for salvation, and for eternity. If the family is so important to God, why has its true purpose been hidden or ignored? Today, the family is under attack more than ever, yet our leaders rarely talk about how valuable families are or how important each family member is. Why have we overlooked what the Bible says about family? When our leaders stay silent, churchgoers can't help but adopt secular views, seeing their children not as a gift, but as a choice. Parents turn to birth control, sterilization, and even abortion to prevent adding family members. Does God care about how many children we have? We are now seeing the consequences of treating family as a personal choice. People of childbearing age struggle with infertility and hormonal imbalances and cannot have the children they desire. Could there be a connection? Does birth control align with biblical teachings? And why did Catholics, Protestants, and Jews once agree on the gift of children, but for almost 100 years, separated on key questions about the family? What are the real answers? Birthing God's Mighty Warriors lifts the veil on these crucial questions, revealing the truth about the "family"-truths that have been overlooked and intentionally hidden. This powerful book uncovers God's original design for the family, challenges the false narratives we've been taught, and empowers you to reclaim your family's future. If you're ready to break free from the confusion and live with intention, this book will equip you with the information you need to redefine your family and embrace God's purpose for your life. Are you ready to discover God's amazing plan to give you the family you've always dreamed of?
