The project "Community Councils become Territorial Entities to improve Development Planning, Public Management and Land Management of Black Communities" addresses a key issue in the framework of the right to political participation of Afro-Colombian communities. Despite being recognized as the highest administrative authority according to Law 70 of 1993, community councils are not included as territorial entities in Article 286 of the Political Constitution of Colombia, which limits their full participation in regional planning and public management. This research, framed in the Universidad Libre Seccional Cali, focuses on the Colombian Pacific, an ancestral Afro-descendant territory with cities such as Buenaventura, Tumaco and Quibd , where these communities have developed a rich cultural and territorial dynamic. The study seeks to strengthen the cultural identity and promote the resilience of these peoples, highlighting the need to recognize community councils as key actors in development and territorial planning, to ensure a more inclusive and effective public management.

Ethnomusicologists have journeyed from Bali to Morocco to the depths of Amazonia to chronicle humanity's relationship with music. Margaret Sarkissian and Ted Solís guide us into the field's last great undiscovered country: ethnomusicology itself. Drawing on fieldwork based on person-to-person interaction, the authors provide a first-ever ethnography of the discipline. The unique collaborations produce an ambitious exploration of ethnomusicology's formation, evolution, practice, and unique identity. In particular, the subjects discuss their early lives and influences and trace their varied career trajectories. They also draw on their own experiences to offer reflections on all aspects of the field. Pursuing practitioners not only from diverse backgrounds and specialties but from different eras, Sarkissian and Solís illuminate the many trails ethnomusicologists have blazed in the pursuit of knowledge. A bountiful resource on history and practice, Living Ethnomusicology is an enlightening intellectual exploration of an exotic academic culture.

This book examines the design of UWB antennas from theory to practice Ultrawide Band Antennas: A Design Guide examines the design of UWB antennas, from the state of the art through to practice. This book goes beyond the theory and application of classical antennas (e.g. wire, aperture, patch, arrays), addressing the interest in the UWB technology, and in particular frequency bands 3.1 to 10.6 GHz. This book provides readers with an understanding of UWB antennas, including a comprehensive and thorough guide to designing both omnidirectional and directional UWB antennas.* Containing 8 chapters, this book covers the following topics: Antenna fundamentals, State of the Art in UWB antennas, Basic concepts of antennas, Developed theory of UWB antennas, General design considerations, Design of omnidirectional UWB antennas for communications, Design of directional UWB antennas for communications, Phase linearity on UWB antennas, and Open research issues* Presents a detailed review of antenna designs for applications such as satellite communications, space-borne SAR, global navigation satellite systems receivers, science instruments, small satellites, radio astronomy, deep-space applications* Addresses the space antenna development from different angles, including electromagnetic, thermal and mechanical design strategies as it is required for space qualification* Includes numerous case studies to demonstrate how to design and implement antennas in practical scenarios* Offers both an introduction for students in the field and an in-depth reference for antenna engineers who work on the development of space antennas* Written by leading experts in the field of antenna technology

Edward III comes to life in a new version by playwright Octavio Solis. Written after England’s victory over the Spanish Armada in 1588, Edward III follows the exploits of King Edward III and his son Edward, the Black Prince of Wales. England dominates on the battlefield as the play explores questions of kinghood and chivalry through the actions of King Edward and his son. Octavio Solis’s translation of the play provides all of the complexity and richness of the original while renewing the allusions and metaphors lost through time. This translation of Edward III was written as part of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s Play On! project, which commissioned new translations of thirty-nine Shakespeare plays. These translations present work from “The Bard” in language accessible to modern audiences while never losing the beauty of Shakespeare’s verse. Enlisting the talents of a diverse group of contemporary playwrights, screenwriters, and dramaturges from diverse backgrounds, this project reenvisions Shakespeare for the twenty-first century. These volumes make these works available for the first time in print—a new First Folio for a new era.
