Racism is a world problem. From Morocco to China, Brazil to Indonesia, racism is being debated and contested. Multiracism broadens the horizon on this global challenge, showing that racism has a diverse history with multiple roots and routes. Drawing on examples of racism from across the globe, with particular focus on cases from Asia and Africa, Alastair Bonnett rethinks the origins of racism and the connections between racism and modernity. Arguing that plural modernities are interwoven with plural racisms, he explores the relationship of racism to history, religion, politics, and nationalism, as well as to anti-Black prejudice and discourses of whiteness. Empirically rich, with numerous in-depth case studies, Multiracism equips readers to understand racism in a multipolar world where power is no longer the sole possession of the West. It provides and provokes a new, international, and post-Western vision of racism for the twenty-first century.

FULL DESCRIPTION OF BOOK: This book covers my notes and work when I had a eureka moment in early 2013 and realized it was possible to create a new 'Internet Super Highway' and one that could be a free collaboration program. The creating of a new higher level of the World Wide Web is a major breakthrough as demand becomes forever greater surrounding more users and packet data.Every web site owner can embrace and adopt this new virtual world of development for a faster and more enjoyable connectivity experience from compression for their users and new customers. From careful research I was able to establish the average bounce rate of a business web site was over 40% and over 94% of all web sites are not optimized for their users or browser rendering engine technology software. So I decided to start flat packing things as folk would say, and by running optimization tools and tests, I found I could change the speed of any average web site, where it would perform at least 3 to 4 times faster by my methods, that I regard today in comparison to any other web sites being downloaded as super fast speed by stealth BOOK BACK COVER DETAILS: The Internet and World Wide Web was created and invented from a physical world of computing.Today society operates in a Virtual World of Technology and born from that Creating The New Internet Super Highway. The arrival of a new era for greater advancement and beyond one dimensional thinking.Today there are over 94 million web sites and counting. It was only a matter of time by understanding the realms of Natural Law could be found even within a Virtual World Quantum Mechanics and Natural Branching busy at work reaching beyond convention for a faster method of packet data delivery by flat packing the World Wide Web by stealth.Quotation: "Even a virtual world created by technology, continues to be re-shaped by the power of Natural Law in the form of Quantum Mechanics and Natural Branching." Alastair R Agutter. This book is particularly relevant today for Web5G designers, programmers and developers for an insight to how packet data and photons travel with your information and the various speeds as we now start to embrace the new Web5G era

Why does the prison system, with its stated objectives of reform and rehabilitation, turns three out of four first-offenders into recidivists to harass the community again and again? Alastair W. MacLeod, drawing on relevant psychiatric literature to interpret the findings of a small-scale study of criminality made with the cooperation of inmates in a Canadian penitentiary, advances the hypothesis that damaging degrees of deprivation brought about by various kinds of social isolation during critical life periods can seriously handicap the individual in learning and using the social skills essential to living a noncriminal life. Jurists, penologists, theologians, savants, and journalists have authored an impressive library of books and articles on crime, punishment, and correction. Only more recently have psychiatrists begun to add their observations, speculative thought, and recommendations to the literature. This study has been written in a spirit of confidence shared by many psychiatrists that the complex causes of criminality can be better understood than they are now, and that this understanding can be used both to lessen the incidence of crime and to increase the effectiveness of rehabilitation practices. Recidivism: A Deficiency Disease is derived from a series of lectures given by MacLeod in 1958 under the terms of the Isaac Ray Lectureship Award. These lectures were based on observations made during a study conducted in a Canadian Federal penitentiary early in 1955 under official auspices of the McGill University Department of Psychiatry and the Montreal Mental Hygiene Institute, and with the collaboration and support of the John Howard Society of Quebec.

Can we still have joy in a world of pain and anxiety? The troubles around us and in our lives lead many of us into a joyless experience where despair and hopelessness are the norm. Yet something within us still longs for a joy that transcends our challenges and gives us meaning and satisfaction.Alastair Sterne says that our inner longings for joy actually point us to a God of joy who gives us both the capacity for joy and the realities of joyful experience. Sterne explores pathways to joy and why we often experience the absence of joy. He then offers theologically grounded and research-based practices for becoming people of joyful presence. Even if we are not temperamentally happy enthusiasts, we can gradually cultivate the deep abiding joy that we were created for and that enriches the world around us.

Climate Change and Conservation for me started over 50 years ago. In fact, in the introduction of my first published book in 1989, I warned of Climate Change and Deforestation. So as a Marine Biologist and Ichthyologist, starting my apprenticeship at the waters edge at just 7 years of age, this book has something to say.I hope you grab a copy of the book to gauge what is really going on, and how our lives are being affected now. Many of the views and reports today being aired surrounding climate change by the United Nations, Governments, and Institutions, can very often seem distant issues and have no bearing, or relevance, to folks real lives. To most folk 40 to 50 years ago "climate change" was probably not on anyone's radar. However, even back in the 1960's and 1970's there did exist signs of change then, and not for the better. Please read on.....As each year has past on, even as a small boy to a young man, you would notice change and decline to our environment, less fish, less worms and an ever increasing film of dead algae and oil spillage caught in the saltwater pools and also covering silt banks and sand bars with a distinct smell. The warning and pre-cursor to our impact on Earth and especially surrounding fossil fuels, came with the sinking of SS Torrey Canyon off the Cornish Coast in 1967, spilling over 120,000 tons of crude oil that even reached the Thames Estuary, leaving massive devastation to the environment around Britain. So my book here "The Reality of Climate Change" provides an accurate account of how everyday Folks lives are now being affected, at the coal face as they say In the book, I wrote and warned of serious neurological diseases from air pollution including Alzheimer's that I was convinced like other degenerative diseases of cell damage has been caused from air pollution toxins, preventing the renewal of brain cell tissues and other critical nerve system cell structures.I felt compelled to write this book, as I really care about our home (Mother Earth) and all the world's majestic life creatures we share it with. No longer can the few of us do all the heavy lifting, we need your help to challenge our negligent politicians and Corporate Empires. Now since writing the book, I am pleased to see more folk in the media are now starting to feature "Climate Change" and especially welcome Sky Broadcasting launching "Ocean Sea Rescue" exposing the plight to our dying Seas, Rivers and Oceans."On the 12th of October 2015 BBC's Newsnight Team Broadcast a News Feature on Air Pollution which confirms my findings in this 'NEW' Book on Climate Change regarding serious Health issues including Respiratory Disorders, Dementia, Alzheimer's etc.""On Monday the 22nd of November 2015 there was a Special Sky News Report, where HRH Prince Charles accurately stated the planet faces catastrophe and needs to be put on life support now to prevent ever increasing disasters as a result of Climate Change."At the time of writing this book, there are two specific numbers you need to remember and these are 275 and 400 What relevance are the above numbers you may rightly ask?FACT: 275 Is the parts per million number of Carbon Dioxide for starting all of life on Earth and in layman terms, many millions of years ago.FACT: 400 Is the parts per million number of Carbon Dioxide today in the Earth's atmosphere and these factual measurements are courtesy of friends and colleagues at NASA (nasa.gov).Ever wondered why there is a rise in Respiratory Disorders, Alzheimer's, Dementia the list goes on....over 50,000 folk in Britain will die this year and rising from air pollution. Governments target the smokers as a diversionary tactic, yet diesel vehicles, including public transport is just, if not more lethal to your health Enjoy the book, for I know you will find it to be an eye opener

"I Never Write Books for the Good of My Health, but to Contribute and Help I became very concerned in 2015, hence writing the book, regarding Personal users and Folk in Business (Brand, Image, Reputation) using Social Media and Social Networks. For I feared many Citizens and Businesses did not fully understand the Environment. I in fact wrote in the book sighting Facebook of Events to come, now that Day has arrived, as Governments Sharpen their Knives." Having been involved with the World Wide Web since it's commercial beginning, back in the mid 1990's as a Computer Scientist and Developer. I like to think I can offer some clear water, regarding such a phenomena we know as Social Media, and where even in a Virtual World, the real physical presence of Sir Isaac Newton's Natural Law is evident, and using both Quantum Mechanics and Natural Branching, even in an Artificial Intelligence environment, as written about in my book titled Creating the New Internet Super Highway. THE SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLERLast Christmas I almost killed myself. Almost. I've had a lot of almosts. Never gone from almost to deed. Don't think I ever will. But it was a bad almost. Living Better is Alastair Campbell's honest, moving and life affirming account of his lifelong struggle with depression. It is an autobiographical, psychological and psychiatric study, which explores his own childhood, family and other relationships, and examines the impact of his professional and political life on himself and those around him. But it also lays bare his relentless quest to understand depression not just through his own life but through different treatments. Every bit as direct and driven, clever and candid as he is, this is a book filled with pain, but also hope -- he examines how his successes have been in part because of rather than despite his mental health problems -- and love. We all know someone with depression. There is barely a family untouched by it. We may be talking about it more than we did, back in the era of 'boys don't cry' - they did you know - and when a brave face or a stiff upper lip or a best foot forward was seen as the only way to go. But we still don't talk about it enough. There is still stigma, and shame, and taboo. There is still the feeling that admitting to being sad or anxious makes us weak. It took me years, decades even to get to this point, but I passionately believe that the reverse is true and that speaking honestly about our feelings and experiences (whether as a depressive or as the friend or relative of a depressive) is the first and best step on the road to recovery. So that is what I have tried to do here.
