In 1997, Keith Vincent Dunbar was convicted by the United States Federal Government of Conspiracy. He offered no defense. The Prosecuting Attorney promised him he'd get life in prison and his Defense Attorney threatened to resign from his case if he dared to demand a trial before a jury of his peers. "Save yourself." they both said. "Plead out for a lesser sentence." With 22 witnesses lined up to testify against him and 32 co-conspirators who all but one had already pled guilty, his only hope to see life outside of prison walls was to follow suit. So Dunbar plead guilty to Conspiracy to Distribute and Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine Base. Now, after serving more than a decade in Federal Prison, Dunbar presents his case - against the United States Federal Government. It is the same charge of Conspiracy that he makes and proves the Government guilty of; Conspiracy to enact and use draconian laws, policies and practices to emasculate and annihilate the African American race. See who really conspired against whom? Conspired Redemption is Dunbar's defense. It's his saving grace. It is his redemption.Published by Robinson Omnimedia Publishing & Studios
Our Christmas: A Scandinavian-American Christmas/Jul Season in Tradition and Practice

Our Christmas: A Scandinavian-American Christmas/Jul Season in Tradition and Practice

Our Scandinavian-American Christmas/J l Season is a virtual smorgasbord of traditions and practices celebrated each year from late November through early January. They are a blend of religious observances and secular celebrations. Some traditions, such as the Christmas tree, are an adaptation of traditions from non-Scandinavian areas. Other traditions, such as dessert baking and the use of lights, have distinct Scandinavian origins. The purpose of this book is to present, enlighten, preserve, and perpetuate our Scandinavian-American Christmas/J l traditions and practices with the intent to make your season more meaningful and enjoyable. To fulfill that intent stories, traditional crafts, songs, and recipes, are included through-out this book. Reading the stories, making the crafts, singing the songs, and baking the cookies, will increase your Christmas/J l Season enjoyment. A systematic discussion of such a varied and interwoven content is difficult. As a result this book's discussion begins with the Julstav Calendar and then proceeds in date order, beginning in November with Advent and ending in January with the J l's Leaving. Non-date specific elements have been woven into this presentation format. This book is a guide to add meaning and enjoyment to your season.

Modern travel adventure doesn't always take place in a far off swamp. Keith Jones journeys from the polluted streets of Manila to an elegant Bishkek ballroom. He sleeps upon a lonely beach in Baja, Mexico and is enlightened at a forest temple in Thailand. Along the way ghostly encounters bring new meaning to the phrase "travel adventure". - A remote forest temple in Thailand. A scream in the night. A ghost roams the temple grounds. - In a bustling Manila neighborhood, next to a busy funeral home, ghosts lurk in the hallway of Keith's apartment building, while outside he is set upon by a ragtag gang of munchkins. - A typhoon drenched weekend in the coffee growing region of the Philippine Islands where the Ghost of the Coffee Farmer's Daughter crosses Keith's path. - In Kyrgyzstan a colleague complains that the bride's price of 40 sheep and $1,000 dollars paid by her father-in-law, was insultingly low. While that snowy night the ghost of the Alta Sara Ballroom keeps Keith awake. - In China a mid-morning mountain hike and the quest for a fabled dinner plate sized peach sends a ghostly shiver down Keith's spine. - On a remote Baja shore, in the dark of the night Keith helps a stranded baby whale, while a ghostly apparition waits offshore. True life travel stories about real people, but with some mysterious happenings along the way.
A Gateway to Number Theory

A Gateway to Number Theory

Challenge: Can you find all the integers $a$, $b$, $c$ satisfying $2a^{2} + 3b^{2} = 5c^{2}$? Looks simple, and there are in fact a number of easy solutions. But most of them turn out to be anything but obvious! There are infinitely many possibilities, and as any computer will tell you, each of $a$, $b$, $c$ will usually be large. So the challenge remains ... Find all integers$a$, $b$, $c$satisfying$2a^{2} + 3b^{2} = 5c^{2}$.A major advance in number theory means this book can give an easy answer to this and countless similar questions. The idea behind the approach is transforming a degree-two equation in integer variables $a$, $b$, $c$ into a plane curve defined by a polynomial. Working with the curve makes obtaining solutions far easier, and the geometric solutions then get translated back into integers. This method morphs hard problems into routine ones and typically requires no more than high school math. (The complete solution to $2a^{2} + 3b^{2} = 5c^{2}$ is included in the book.) In addition to equations of degree two, the book addresses degree-three equations--a branch of number theory that is today something of a cottage industry, and these problems translate into ""elliptic curves''. This important part of the book includes many pictures along with the exposition, making the material meaningful and easy to grasp. This book will fit nicely into an introductory course on number theory. In addition, the many solved examples, illustrations, and exercises make self-studying the book an option for students, thus becoming a natural candidate for a capstone course.

First published in January 1996, Devlin's Angle is a popular online monthly feature on the MAA Math Values website. In this book, Keith Devlin has celebrated the first quarter century of the MAA's web presence by curating a collection of 46 of the 288 posts from that period, chosen for their relevance to K-12 mathematics teaching. The posts are organized into nine themed chapters, each beginning with its own introduction regarding the history and nature of the posts presented. Topics covered include the teaching of multiplication, teaching for conceptual understanding, and a discussion of mathematical creativity. The book closes with a final chapter touching on teaching at the college level. Due to the nature of mathematics, many of the columns contain observations that remain relevant in the present day. Devlin's lively, conversational style is encapsulated in this informative and thought-provoking collection. It will appeal to mathematics teachers at all levels, as well as anyone interested in mathematics education at the K-12 level.
A Question of Leadership

A Question of Leadership

Keith Leslie

A fascinating guide to effective leadership in times of crises, with a psychological underpinning that provides both context and practical advice. Whether planned or unexpected, change can present leaders with some of their toughest sustained challenges, regardless of seniority or the organisation’s size. In A Question of Leadership, Keith Leslie provides a wide range of illustrative case studies derived from both research and his first-hand experience in the public and private sectors. They are united by an overarching thesis: the failure of many change initiatives is caused by the leader’s inability to fully consider the consequences and magnitude of the situation. Across business and society, the prevalence and impacts of such short-sighted mistakes has become more apparent than ever following the onset of the Covid pandemic in 2020. Each chapter provides an engaging narrative that presents a relatable leadership dilemma, before undertaking an analysis of what works and when it should be implemented and, finally, actionable advice for leaders who find themselves in comparable circumstances (or may do so in the future). A Question of Leadership also places an emphasis on an important but frequently overlooked element of corporate leadership and change initiatives: mental health. The book provides expert advice on managing the mental health of leaders and the teams who are operating within stressful, high-pressure environments. This is a timely and essential guide for any business leader looking for the most effective strategies and approaches when it comes to change initiatives, to ensure the continued livelihood and prosperity of their organization and their employees in times of crisis.
