King Solomon's Mines is a popular novel by the Victorian adventure writer and fabulist Sir H. Rider Haggard. It tells of a search of an unexplored region of Africa by a group of adventurers led by Allan Quatermain for the missing brother of one of the party. It is the first English fictional adventure novel set in Africa, and is considered to be the genesis of the Lost World literary genre.Sir H. Rider Haggard, in full Sir Henry Rider Haggard, (born June 22, 1856, Bradenham, Norfolk, Eng.--died May 14, 1925, London), English novelist best known for his romantic adventure King Solomon's Mines (1885).The son of a barrister, Haggard was educated at Ipswich grammar school and by private tutors. In 1875, at age 19, he went to southern Africa as secretary to the governor of Natal, Sir Henry Bulwer. Then he served on Sir Theophilus Shepstone's staff and himself hoisted the flag at the brief first annexation of the Transvaal (1877-81). He then became master of the high court there. In 1879 he returned to England, wrote a history of recent events in southern Africa, Cetywayo and His White Neighbours (1882), and read for the bar.He published two unsuccessful novels but captured the public with his African adventure story King Solomon's Mines. He followed this with She (1887) and further stories of Africa, notably Allan Quatermain (1887), Nada the Lily (1892), Queen Sheba's Ring (1910), Marie (1912), and The Ivory Child (1916). He used other settings for such striking romances as Cleopatra (1889), Montezuma's Daughter (1893), and Heart of the World (1896).Haggard was also a practical farmer; he served on several government commissions concerning agriculture and was knighted in 1912 for these services. A Farmer's Year (1899) and Rural England, 2 vol. (1902), are works of some importance. His autobiography, The Days of My Life: An Autobiography by Sir H. Rider Haggard (1926), was edited by C.J. Longman and published posthumously. With Robert Louis Stevenson, George MacDonald, and William Morris, Haggard was part of the literary reaction against domestic realism that has been called a romance revival. (britannica.com)

Generally, when we hear the word "psalm", we tend to think of the traditional 150 psalms that collectively comprise the Book of Psalms of the Old Testament. Of those 150 psalms, about half of them are traditionally attributed to David. But, King Solomon is also remembered for being a prolific writer, as the author of numerous biblical books: Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs, and Wisdom of Solomon, as well as this one. Presented here are King Solomon's lost 18 psalms that make up this apocryphal book, the Psalms of Solomon, just as they were first published in English, along with the original prologue and a brand new, lengthy introduction.

The Solomon Syndrome is designed to help readers understand how to have a happier and more meaningful life. The Solomon Syndrome helps readers identify the futile ways in which men and women seek to have a happy life pursuing the cultural ideas of how to be successful. The first part serves as a tool for assessment of how one seeks to have their needs met in ways that never work. Solomon becomes a model of how all the pathways contemporary culture teaches to pursue only gets readers onto the “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” and elicit the evaluation “Meaningless”. It then lays out a paradigm of how God designed a network of relationships to meet one’s deepest needs and make life meaningful and happy. The second part of The Solomon Syndrome takes each of the relationships discussed within and provides a tool for adjustment and enhancement of each area. Rather than being a book about marriage, or family, or serving, or a relationship with God, it shows how all relationships are designed to work together to create the life God intended for people to live.

The concept of this book relays to parents and children's practical steps to learn, forgive, and gain friends. Learning principles from the Bible reflect the heart of Jesus. Forgiving each other increases growth. Gaining new friends is the beginning of developing a positive outlook on ways to solve a problem. Working with children has led me to see how creating a book based on biblical principles allows them to realize, "Hey, this actually works." The book is not about religion, but only relates to building character such as giving and showing love. Children learn to communicate, enhance, or decrease peer pressures. My goal is to expose children to solving real-life problems that may require parent assistance, gain friends, and doing the right thing. This is meant to build character. King Solomon Street is a neighborhood street that is full of games and fun. The children strive to gain prizes by winning and choosing to do the right thing. Let's see what happens Cassandra Bishop currently resides in South Carolina. Writing children's books became a passion while attending a creative writing class at New Paltz College in New York. There, a hidden talent became a dream that eventually birthed into a reality. A desire to continue education at Phoenix University and complete a Bachelor Health Administration degree. Eventually I obtained a Masters degree in Mental Health Counselor was achieved at Webster University. The main concentration of the career is in cognitive behavioral therapy, substance abuse, and working with children. Family traditions consist of praying, fun, and celebrations. These memories inspire her to write children's books focusing on various types of relationships. The book reveals how peer problems challenge children to become better people by applying principles from the Bible.

The book's title refers to the legendary Seal of Solomon, a ring that supposedly gave King Solomon the power to speak to animals. Lorenz claims that he likewise achieved this feat of communication with several species. He accomplished this by raising them in and around his home and observing their behavior. King Solomon's Ring describes the methods of his investigation, and his resulting findings about animal psychology. Lorenz's findings include the surprisingly refined social system of the common Eurasian jackdaw, the uncanny behavior and bodily features of the tiny water shrew, and the surprisingly complex interactions of seemingly unintelligent aquarium fish. He interlards his narrative with anecdotes based on his unusual methods, without which he could not have made many of his observations.King Solomon's Ring dispels several common misconceptions about animals' intelligence, but at the same time points out many of their similarities with humans, although some of these similarities come from speculative extrapolations (in fact, Lorenz has been criticized for excessive anthropomorphism). King Solomon's Ring also addresses the issue of keeping pets. Lorenz praises the benefits that a pet owner derives from his pet, however, he also describes the hazards that an animal can pose to the inhabitants and material contents of a house, and the ways in which a pet's captivity can make it miserable, and explains how to avoid each of these causes for discontent. A few of the findings it presents have found their way into common knowledge since its publication, such as the phenomenon of imprinting.

He then looks at the extensive presence of Solomon in folklore worldwide, including in Armenia, Israel, Malaysia, Eastern Europe, Russia, Morocco, India, Mongolia, and among the Abyssinians of Ethiopia and the Copts in Egypt. He also looks at Solomon’s role within the Bulgarian tradition from which the Cathars derived. King Solomon is known as the wisest and richest man to have ever lived, but who was this man really? Even though we read his words in the Bible, this man who was the son of "the man after God's own heart" remains a mystery to this day. Even his death is veiled in conspiracy theories. How could a man who was granted his greatest wish by God Himself be so enamored with the pleasures of this world-hungry for sex, power, and more wealth? In King Solomon's Empire, Archie and Margaret Roy take an in-depth look into the life of the wise king and the kingdom he led. Through this study, the reader will come to understand the time in which King Solomon ruled, enter into the temple that he built for his God, and follow his path to a life of "striving after wind." While the mystery still remains unsolved, perhaps the reader will come to learn some lessons from the man and avoid some of the pitfalls in their own life, as there is truly "nothing new under the sun."

Perspective is important and often our communication is limited because we fail to bring our perspective across so that others can see our points. I have carefully written my experiences along with my surrounding peers as concise and clear as possible to demonstrate that we all live in the same world and it is okay to see things differently and also to be different but be yourself. Listed are lust, a bit of hatred, love, death of my grandma, confusion, the role of my father and life as I knew it.

Brother Solomon LeClerq is one of the martyrs of the French revolution and the Secretary-General of the Institute at that time. His story is compelling. Once the monarchy had been overthrown early in the French Revolution, the next target was the Church. In 1790 the Civil Constitution of the Clergy gave the state complete control over the Church in France. In order to continue to function, priests and religious were forced to take an oath to support the constitution. Most of the Brothers refused and so were forced gradually to abandon their schools and communities. Eventually the Institute was deprived altogether of legal status in France. Brother Solomon was secretary to Brother Agathon, the Superior General, after having been a teacher, director and bursar. He always showed a great love for people and a great attachment to his work. Having refused to take an oath, he lived alone in Paris in secrecy. We still have many of his letters to his family. The last one is dated August 15, 1792. That very day he was arrested and imprisoned in the Carmelite monastery, which had become a prison, together with several bishops and priests. On September 2, almost all the prisoners were killed by sword in the monastery garden. He was beatified on October 17, 1926, together with 188 of his fellow martyrs. He was the first one of our martyrs and also the first Brother to be beatified. Publisher: Christian Brothers Conference - Lasallian Region of North America
