Spring Man: A Belief Legend between Folklore and Popular Culture deconstructs the nationalistic myth of Spring Man that was created after the Second World War in visual culture and literature and presents his original form as an ambiguous ghostly denizen of oral culture. Petr Janecek analyzes the archetypal character, social context, and cultural significance of this fascinating phenomenon with help of dozens of accounts provided by period eyewitnesses, oral narratives, and other sources. At the same time, the author illustrates the international origin of the tales in the originally British migratory legend of Spring-heeled Jack that reaches back to the second third of the 19th century and draws parallels between the Czech myth of spring man and similar urban phantom narratives popular in the 1910s Russia, 1940s U.S. and Slovakia, 1950s Germany, as well as other parts of the world.

These are those letters.A gentle love story that, through the year, unfolds and captures the times: the movies, the trains, the challenge of long distance telephone calls, and the hope waiting on the arrival of every letter. The Spring Creek Home Front was published between June 1943 and December 1945 as a monthly newsletter mailed to the servicemen from the Spring Creek, PA area. Mrs. Lois Sickler, of the Home Front Editorial staff, saved the unmailed newsletters that were used for this book. Each chapter represents an issue of the monthly newsletter. Each chapter begins with the "War News" of that month to see what people read in the news. Each newsletter contains "News of the Servicemen," which was the news provided by the servicemen or their families. Then the column of "Local News," about the people in Spring Creek, we have a period of two half-year look at the town's people and events detail. I have also created a name index that will significantly aid anyone looking up family names with more than a thousand instances of people's names. It has been 76 years since the last issue of the newsletter was published. The people in the newsletters have mostly passed. The newsletters get browner by the day, and even the WW2 memorial in Spring Creek is gone now. It is time to print them again to be enjoyed by another generation of readers and honor the service members from Spring Creek.
I thought I had left gardening behind, with my previous life. However, it came back to me this Spring season to interpret life, living and loving of humanity in the great garden.In five moments, I weave thought in verses and paint emotions in colors of gardens. First, a visit to Sorrows of the past, where I shed "Tears of Yesterday". In an effort to continue remote education for his students during the unprecedented cancellation of the 2020 school year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Brett Ramseyer encouraged his students to write with gratitude, creativity, and with a quest for excellence in order to cope with their mixed feelings about missing three months of their education amidst social distancing, isolation, and the trials of this century's worst and most precipitous economic downturn.
