Doctoral Dissertation, University of California, San Diego, 2014. With modern optimization techniques it is generally possible to form some kind of image estimate using an arbitrary collection of views or sensor measurements of an unknown object. The question is what is the best result that one can get with that data and will it be acceptable? We use optimization theory to analyze inverse problems such as this and formulate strategies for understanding how much high resolution information is contained in the data and how to intelligently reconstruct the best image possible.

Where was the chair of Mary Queen of Scots placed for her trial? How was Smithfield set up for public executions? How many paces did the King walk forward to meet a visiting ambassador in the Presence Chamber at Greenwich? How were spectators arranged at tournaments? And why did any of this matter? Janette Dillon adds a new dimension to work on space and theatricality by providing a comparative analysis of a range of spectacular historical events. She investigates in detail the claim that early modern court culture was always inherently performative, demonstrating how every kind of performance was shaped by its own space and place. Using a range of evidence, visual as well as verbal, and illustrated with some unfamiliar as well as better known images, Dillon leads the reader to general principles and conclusions via a range of minutely observed case studies.
This is a re-typeset copy of the original (1961) book, revised with reference to the 1987 edition, with corrections to any errors I have found, and modification to any formatting I found confusing. Page numbering, line formatting, and font have been otherwise, faithfully followed. Referenced external texts have been copied from the referenced sources, and inserted after the main text. This was originally a pdf Ebook, with embedded audio, taken from the recordings reference, and indeed specially produced by Gael-Linn. The copyright of this book still belongs to Hodder and Stoughton, but permission to publish has been granted, see inside back pages, on the basis that they consider the work to be obsolete, and superseded, and so they have no further financial interest in it.

Why can't a girl grow up to be President? Zoe can When the voice of doubt continues, Zoe knows exactly what to say: "Go away, voice... I can be anything... but first, I have to learn to read. And don't tell me I can't "Caldecott Award-winner Diane Dillon has created a winning character who defies anything to hold her back from achieving her goals. And the key to Zoe's future success begins when Zoe defiantly opens her book, making it clear that both confidence and reading are tools we all need to make our dreams come true.
The United States lost one third of its factory jobs in the past decade as jobs were outsourced offshore, mostly to Asia. Jobs that require a college degree are next to go. China will award six times as many degrees this year as they did ten years ago and any job that can be digitized will be 'tradable'. Estimates of the number of vulnerable jobs range from a low 11 million to a staggering 56 million 'middle class' jobs. The median United States household income has already dropped by seven percent since 2000 and without dramatic changes in the American workforce that trend will become a disaster for middle class Americans.
Prayerfully written, this book contains poems which were inspired by different Biblical passages. For those who would like to read the Scriptures which have inspired the poems but are not near a Bible, I have included the Sciptures at the end of this book, so that you can read them for yourself
