Our intention in this book is to cover the core material in numerical analysis normally taught to students on degree courses in computer science. The main emphasis is placed on the use of analysis and programming techniques to produce well-designed, reliable mathematical software. The treatment should be of interest also to students of mathematics, science and engineering who wish to learn how to write good programs for mathematical computations. The reader is assumed to have some acquaintance with Pascal programming. Aspects of Pascal particularly relevant to numerical computation are revised and developed in the first chapter. Although Pascal has some drawbacks for serious numerical work (for example, only one precision for real numbers), the language has major compensating advantages: it is a widely used teaching language that will be familiar to many students and it encourages the writing of clear, well structured programs. By careful use of structure and documentation, we have produced codes that we believe to be readable; particular care has been taken to ensure that students should be able to understand the codes in conjunction with the descriptive material given in the book.

Mystery: The Isherwood Case FilesMystery 1: The Mystery of the Missing WivesIsherwood is the new boy in town, a well known British detective brought into the Los Angeles Police department's homicide squad to help get better results. Although Charley doesn't like the idea, he has no choice but to put up with it. Isherwood shows the squad what difference observation makes to how a potential crime scene is viewed, when asked to help by a member of the public who is worried for the safety of her sister. Is she right? Is the girl's fiance a monster who has already killed his previous wives? The problem is that he is perceived as a high profile member of society and the Chief warns the detectives to tread carefully. Will Isherwood tread on anyone's ego as he provides insight on this potential murder case? This is the first of the series of Isherwood Case Files in which our detective gets up close and personal with homicide, showing the squad the difference between the American approach and the more reserved British approach.Mystery 2: Pascal Tourret Private DetectiveWhen Madame Duclos employs Pascale Tourret to help her to save her daughter from a life of crime, the investigation takes Pascale from his home in the Lot region of France to the busy streets of Paris. There, he encounters the activities of the underworld and particularly of Maurice Gautier, a man with no scruples.Deeply entrenched into the drug cartel, Gautier is producing bad methamphetamine that is hitting the streets of Paris with regularity and killing college kids. On top of that, his organization are also importing cocaine from Colombia. Piecing together the movements of cartel is complex and takes Pascal through the streets of Paris but he is aided by his old colleague from the police department, who is happy to supply him with information to help in the investigation. With no witness protection program available, how will Pascale get witnesses? How will he overcome the constraints of French law and gain sufficient evidence to put Gautier away? The story follows the progress of his inquiry.

However, when Jobin explains to him the history behind the caseLe Fur is more accepting of the way the inquiry progresses. With child trafficking becoming more and more common, Interpol are involved in the case. Victims being under the age of 9 years old, concern is mounting as the killer leaves his calling card. Can Jobin put the pieces together to solve the crimes? How do you go about an investigation that covers such a large geographical area? This story follows the inquiry that leads to social networking sites where initial contact appears to have been made by the murderer.Follow the story and see what goes on behind the doors of the Interpol office as detectives from many countries gather, with a mutual cause.
This is part 1 of a series that will show you how to write an interactive interpreter in Object Pascal. Part 1 of the series will cover introductory material including a description of the language we'll create, a full lexical analyzer for the language, how to use DUnitX for unit testing, and an introduction to the essential concepts in syntax analysis, recursive descent, grammar, and EBNF. Along the way, we'll create a REPL, give a detailed discussion of how to parse expressions and build a simple interactive calculator to illustrate the theory. The book provides fully working code and explains in plain English how the code works and why certain decisions were made, including alternative designs. The book makes liberal use of code throughout the book chapters. Everything is done without the help of third-party tools. All you need is a standard installation of Free Pascal or Embarcaderos's excellent Delphi (including the free community edition). The text is geared to hobbyists and midlevel developers who need an easy introduction to lexical analysis and parsing. It's also for students starting out in compiler and interpreter design and need something more digestible before getting immersed in compiler theory.
