For the past few decades, the Interest in the cognitive profile of children with Down Syndrome has been robust, with a large number of published studies discussing the atypical and unique profile of their cognitive abilities. However, there is no clear understanding of the cognitive profile of individuals with Down Syndrome and how this differentiates from other forms of intellectual disability. The uniqueness of the cognitive make-up of individuals with Down Syndrome will contribute to a better understanding of the specific strengths and impairments of this population, as well as to the development of more effective educational programs suitable for them (Grouios and Ypsilanti; Genetics and Etiology of Down Syndrome; Edited by: Subrata Dey; 2011). The present study is designed to highlight the strengths, limitations and the relationship between different intellectual aspects of children with Down syndrome having mild intellectual disability. Input from this study can be used by the rehabilitation professionals and the special educators for developing the appropriate interventions and training programmes, so that the quality of life of persons with disabilities can be enhanced.

In den letzten Jahrzehnten war das Interesse am kognitiven Profil von Kindern mit Down-Syndrom robust, mit einer gro en Anzahl von ver ffentlichten Studien, die das atypische und einzigartige Profil ihrer kognitiven F higkeiten diskutieren. Es gibt jedoch kein klares Verst ndnis des kognitiven Profils von Menschen mit Down-Syndrom und wie sich dieses von anderen Formen der geistigen Behinderung unterscheidet. Die Einzigartigkeit des kognitiven Aufbaus von Individuen mit Down-Syndrom wird zu einem besseren Verst ndnis der spezifischen St rken und Beeintr chtigungen dieser Population sowie zur Entwicklung effektiverer, f r sie geeigneter Bildungsprogramme beitragen (Grouios und Ypsilanti; Genetics and Etiology of Down Syndrome; Edited by: Subrata Dey; 2011).Die vorliegende Studie soll die St rken, Grenzen und den Zusammenhang zwischen verschiedenen intellektuellen Aspekten von Kindern mit Down-Syndrom mit leichter geistiger Behinderung aufzeigen. Tuttavia, non c' una chiara comprensione del profilo cognitivo degli individui con la sindrome di Down e come questo si differenzi da altre forme di disabilit intellettuale. Nie ma jednak jasnego zrozumienia profilu poznawczego os b z zespolem Downa i tego, w jaki spos b r żni się on od innych form niepelnosprawności intelektualnej.
