And here I thought it was all about me.No one has ever accused me of being humble, but I never would have imagined that the group behind my recent problems had someone else in their sights all along. They've captured Emrick, my heart, soul and connection to this world, and I'm preparing for war to get him back.We don't know what the enemy's endgame is, but if they've snared a servant of Death, whatever they're after could endanger the fate of the world. Along with my team, I'll stand in their way, and Death itself will have to wait its turn.Because I'm not done yet. Not by a long shot.

The Punk Turn in Comedy

This book examines the interconnections between punk and alternative comedy (altcom). It explores how punk’s tendency towards humour and parody influenced the trajectory taken by altcom in the UK, and the punk strategies introduced when altcom sought self-definition against dominant established trends. The Punk Turn in Comedy considers the early promise of punk-comedy convergence in Peter Cook and Dudley Moore’s ‘Derek and Clive’, and discusses punk and altcom’s attitudes towards dominant traditions. The chapters demonstrate how punk and altcom sought a direct approach for critique, one that rejected innuendo, while embracing the ‘amateur’ in style and experimenting with audience-performer interaction. Giappone argues that altcom tended to be more consistently politicised than punk, with a renewed emphasis on responsibility. The book is a timely exploration of the ‘punk turn’ in comedy history, and will speak to scholars of both comedy and punk studies.

Textual and Artistic Representations of Guide Dogs in Northwestern Europe, 1100-1500
This book provides the first full-length exploration of guide dogs in medieval textual and artistic sources. It is sometimes suggested that guide dogs did not exist during the medieval period, and most of the research that does recognise their existence does so using a small set of examples. This book reveals new information about disability in the premodern world by introducing and analysing a corpus of images and textual references to guide dogs, all of which appear in manuscripts created during the late medieval period (here defined as 1100-1500) in the specific areas under investigation (France, the British Isles, Belgium, and The Netherlands). Exploring this evidence using both quantitative and qualitative approaches, which is the goal of this study, is important, because the history of guide dogs and their representations is directly relevant to several present-day social issues and to the growing field of Disability Studies.
The Vexing Case of Igor Shafarevich, a Russian Political Thinker
This is the first comprehensive study about the non-mathematical writings and activities of the Russian algebraic geometer and number theorist Igor Shafarevich (b. 1923). In the 1970s Shafarevich was a prominent member of the dissidents’ human rights movement and a noted author of clandestine anti-communist literature in the Soviet Union. Shafarevich’s public image suffered a terrible blow around 1989 when he was decried as a dangerous ideologue of anti-Semitism due to his newly-surfaced old manuscript Russophobia. The scandal culminated when the President of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States suggested that Shafarevich, an honorary member, resign. The present study establishes that the allegations about anti-Semitism in Shafarevich’s texts were unfounded and that Shafarevich’s terrible reputation was cemented on a false basis.
