Now that he's opened his eyes to love, he's flying high...and losing her could be his greatest crash and burn. For three years, Laryn Hardy has been a Night Stalker mechanic. Tirelessly working on their choppers, keeping the pilots safe with her skills...and falling ever deeper in love with Tate Davis. But the hotshot airman sees her as nothing more than a sparring partner, and it's too painful to be overlooked by the man she's wanted forever, which is why she's been exploring contract options elsewhere. But when one interested party gets a little too pushy, she decides to lay off the job search. Just in time, too-because out of nowhere, Tate suddenly seems to have realized she exists. After a recent mission went FUBAR, ending in the necessary destruction of his chopper, Tate "Casper" Davis got the berating of a lifetime from his spunky mechanic. But not before he saw the emotional toll Laryn suffered over his ordeal. In that moment, he saw the feelings she'd been hiding...and the beautiful, talented woman who's been right under his nose. As if tending to his chopper on the job isn't enough, Laryn also proves she's his safe space at home, when Casper finds himself in a vulnerable position he never imagined. Yeah. She's it for him. Now he just has to convince her.Unfortunately, the couple are just days into exploring their new connection when they're deployed halfway around the world-bringing Laryn that much closer to a person determined to learn US military secrets, force her to use her skills against her government...and steal her away from Tate forever.**Keeping Laryn is the 1st book in the Rescue Angels Series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.
The Lacan Tradition
The Lacanian Tradition is unique among psychoanalytic schools in its influence upon academic fields such as literature, philosophy, cultural and critical studies. This book aims to make Lacan's ideas accessible and relevant also to mainstream psychoanalysts, and to showcase developments in Lacanian thinking since his death in 1981. The volume highlights the clinical usefulness of such concepts as the paternal metaphor, the formula of fantasy, psychic structure, the central role of desire and the interlinking of the individual subject in the matrix of the Other. While these themes are woven through all the papers, each is a highly individual reflection upon some aspect of Lacanian theory, practice or history.

Jacques Lacan and Cinema

Psychoanalysis has always been based on the eclipse of the visual and on the primacy of speech. The work of Jacques Lacan though, is strangely full of references to the visual field, from the intervention on the mirror stage in the Forties to the elaboration of the object-gaze in the Sixties. As a consequence, a long tradition of film studies used Lacanian psychoanalysis in order to explain the influence of the subject of the unconscious on the cinematographic experience. What is less known is how the late Lacanian reflection on the topic of analytic formalization opened up a further dimension of the visual that goes beyond the subjective experience of vision: not in the direction of a mystical ineffable but rather toward a subtractive mathematisation of space, as in non-Euclidean geometries. In an exhaustive overview of the whole Lacanian theorization of the visual, counterpointed by a confrontation with several thinkers of cinema (Eisenstein, Straub-Huillet, Deleuze, Ranciere), the book will lead the reader toward the discovery of the most counterintuitive approaches of Lacanian psychoanalysis to the topic of vision.

This volume comprises of papers by analysts and members of the Freudian School of Melbourne. It addresses the question what difference Lacan's teaching has made in the field of psychoanalysis. The paper demonstrates the possibility of moving from the origin to originality in an antipodean place.
Esoteric Lacan

Esoteric Lacan

Jacques Lacan is a seminal figure in the history of thought, whose radical contributions to thinking on subjectivity, sexuality and language are hugely influential. However, Lacan's engagements with religion – and specifically with traditions beyond the hegemonic European tradition – have not received the attention they deserve. Lacan himself translated Taoist texts, studied Maimonides' The Guide for the Perplexed and engaged with occultism, Sufism and the Kabbalistic tradition. This book offers the first in-depth exploration of his work in this area, asking: how did the different discourses on 'religion' influence Lacan's own thinking? And what can Lacanian theory offer when it comes to the study of non-European religious beliefs? Can it help us to step outside of the Western Christian framework that still organizes the academic knowledge of what religion should be? This collection critically examines how Lacan helps us to question how far the European understanding of these texts and traditions is tied to the universal drive of capitalism and to the psychological internalization of the history of colonialism.

Jacques Lacan is now regarded as a major psychoanalytical theorist alongside Freud and Jung, although recognition has been delayed by fierce arguments over his ideas. Written by a leading Lacanian analyst, "Introducing Lacan" guides the reader through his innovations, including his work on paranoia, his addition of structural linguistics to Freudianism and his ideas on the infant 'mirror phase'. It also traces Lacan's influence in postmodern critical thinking on art, literature, philosophy and feminism. This is the ideal introduction for anyone intrigued by Lacan's ideas but discouraged by the complexity of his writings.

A visionary, a mystic, a lover, a leader, a dancer, an artist, a teacher, a theorist.Rudolf Laban (1879 - 1958) was all these things. Born in fin-de-siecle Austro-Hungary, Laban lived in Austria, France, and Germany. Though he began as a painter, architect and illustrator, it is in movement and dance that Laban made a lasting impact. He was a performer, a choreographer, and a mentor, but his ideas were always part of a broader vision of of movement - as theatre art, as community celebration, and as self-discovery. Through his research into movement he uncovered the interconnections of the body and the psyche, the individual and the group, and he devised a revolutionary system of movement notation that is till in use today.

Rudolf Laban's provocative, experimental, explosive dance theatre works have lain hidden since the Third Reich deliberately annihilated his name. This book exposes Laban's audacity and his significance for dance theatre today, giving access to his creative practices as he provided dance audiences with shock, amusement, awe, curiosity, beauty and meaning. Dr. Valerie Preston-Dunlop, with collaborating artists and dancers, has researched and recreated for today's audiences four groundbreaking works: The visionary Swinging Temple of 1922, his diverse Suite of 1924, his critique of Weimar Republic's decadence Nacht 1927, and his tragic-comic satire Green Clowns. The book follows the making of these works starting with his dynamic revitalisation of dance, freeing dance from music and from ballet, introducing improvisation to find movements never danced before. His struggles in Paris, Munich, Zurich, Hamburg and Berlin, cities vibrant with political controversy and dramatic cultural change, are presented as central to the content and rehearsal methods of his dance theatre works. The re-creations discussed are no resuscitation of dead dances but the result of a radical new look at how to engage today with dances made in the 1920s. Preston-Dunlop, her collaborators rehearsal directors Alison Curtis-Jones and Melanie Clarke, and composers Oli Newman and Robert Coleridge, write with a frank freshness of what actually goes on in the re-making of an expressionist work where dancers may speak, shout, gasp and spit as well as dance in unfamiliar and demanding ways. The impact of these works on the collaborating dancers, in 1920 and today was profound.

The author began her working career as a freelance conference steno-typist, and it was in this capacity that she was Jacques Lacan's steno-typist ("keybasher") from 1967 to 1979. Awarding him a "gold medal for boorishness" - Lacan did not speak a word to her in those twelve years - it was only after she became a psychoanalyst herself that Pierrakos felt adequately equipped to explore and write about, this experience in depth. Her careful but excoriating criticism of the Lacanian system will be of interest to all readers wishing to understand more about one of the most curious phenomena of our time - how a large part of the French intelligentsia came to be captivated by "the pathetic spectacle of an old man tossing bits of string representing Borromean knots to his audience, and of hands stretching out to receive them like children at the circus". The author records: "the posturing was backed up by a quasi-military organization, interlinking regions by sending analysts into virgin territory to preach the good word. Some had undergone only summary analysis and training, since, to quote Lacan "the analyst is only answerable to himself".

Some people we carry with us in life's journey are mere excessive luggage and must be cut off consciously even where it seems to leave us at a disadvantage.
