Oliver Twist was written in 1838 by Charles Dickens, one of the greatest English writers. This book is about a poor little boy without a family. I had read many abridged children versions of Oliver Twist when I was a young boy. And as a teen I liked the musical adaptation Oliver. Therefore, I thought that I knew all there was to know about this famous British story, but sitting down to read the full version of Oliver Twist has shown me that the original story is much darker than I had anticipated.
