Fiona O'Malley has a secret: She was born with a fin on her back. Her parents are ashamed of this fact, and after they try unsuccessfully to have it removed, do everything they can to keep the fin a secret. But secrets have a way of getting out. When her classmates discover Fiona's secret, they make fun of her, and most of her so-called friends desert her. They make fun of her by calling her Fiona Finn. If it weren't for two friends who stand by her throughout the name-calling at school, she would be completely miserable. Only two people see the beauty in her unique difference. When danger strikes, Fiona is finally able to show the world that being different isn't a bad thing to be.

A bundle of touching comedic children's poems, Cornucopia encompasses a group of light, quirky poems about growing up and living life. It is recommended for ages 8-12 or younger to read aloud. The collection includes light and offbeat intellections with titles such as "Selling Happiness", "Scattered Thoughts", "Kelly the Kitten's Rough Day", "Mom's Clever Little Trick", and "The Feels". As a kid growing up, one embarks on a journey of living life, being happy, finding humor in the world and explaining things. Cornucopia encompasses the weird explanations and thoughts from a growing kid's perspective. Kids are at a weird and awkward point in their life as the training wheels have come off of them and they are given space to make choices and figure themselves out. They enjoy people, the world around them and visualizing their future endeavors. They are trying to find where they fit in the world. This makes Cornucopia a great collection as it encompasses living in the moment while dreaming about the future and making changes. Its different, moving aspects leave the reader in a place to make reflections and find deeper meaning in their own life. This collection includes about 140 poems and is similar in tone to Shel Silverstein's Where the Sidewalk Ends. It expresses ideas and concerns of growing children as well as originative and witty stories.
Digital Codicology

Digital Codicology

Bridget Whearty

Medieval manuscripts are our shared inheritance, and today they are more accessible than ever—thanks to digital copies online. Yet for all that widespread digitization has fundamentally transformed how we connect with the medieval past, we understand very little about what these digital objects really are. We rarely consider how they are made or who makes them. This case study-rich book demystifies digitization, revealing what it's like to remake medieval books online and connecting modern digital manuscripts to their much longer media history, from print, to photography, to the rise of the internet. Examining classic late-1990s projects like Digital Scriptorium 1.0 alongside late-2010s initiatives like Bibliotheca Philadelphiensis, and world-famous projects created by the British Library, Corpus Christi College Cambridge, Stanford University, and the Walters Art Museum against in-house digitizations performed in lesser-studied libraries, Whearty tells never-before-published narratives about globally important digital manuscript archives. Drawing together medieval literature, manuscript studies, digital humanities, and imaging sciences, Whearty shines a spotlight on the hidden expert labor responsible for today's revolutionary digital access to medieval culture. Ultimately, this book argues that centering the modern labor and laborers at the heart of digital cultural heritage fosters a more just and more rigorous future for medieval, manuscript, and media studies.
