Eine Mischung aus Shades of Grey und Fluch der KaribikDie Geschichte spielt in der Karibik, im sogenannten "Goldenen Zeitalter der Piraten", um 1700. Die submissive Piratin Marie ist Erster Maat auf K pt'n Lessnyas Schiff Pearl, die mit ihrer Piratenbande auf einer namenlosen Insel in der Karibik lebt. Marie beginnt als Sklavin, wird aber bald zum Ersten Maat. Sie ist hautnah dabei, wie K pt'n Lessnya ihre Gruppe aufbaut, verschiedenste Abenteuer erlebt und so manche Herausforderung besteht. In diesem Buch werden Piratenabenteuer episodenhaft beschrieben, die auch Gewalt und Sex beinhalten. Besonders die Episoden "mein Brandmal", in der Marie in Gefangenschaft ger t, gefoltert wird und nur knapp dem Galgen entkommt, und "Im Rosa Frosch", in der Marie als Arbeits- und Lust-Sklavin benutzt wird, fallen in diese Kategorie. Sie liegen auch hart an der Grenze zu BDSM.Es wird zwar vieles ungesch nt und detailliert beschrieben, doch werden keine derben Ausdr cke verwendet. Stellenweise sachlich, stellenweise r hrend und emotional werden spannungsgeladene Inhalte geboten, die durch die menschlichen H hen und Abgr nde f hren. Trotzdem kommt auch der Humor nicht zu kurz. Die Autorin bezeichnet ihr Werk als "bessere Klolekt re", eine ihr nahestehende Freundin nennt es "Schundroman", doch ist es weit mehr als das: eine feine Mischung aus Fluch der Karibik und Shades of Grey, in der die Protagonistin jedoch ihre Submissivit t akzeptiert, stolz auf ihr Halsband ist und die Konsequenzen ihrer Unterwerfung geradezu herbeisehnt.
