Chronic Kidney Disease has become a major public health problem worldwide. The number of patients needing a kidney transplant is increasing, and as this group of patients grows, its dental needs will also increase. It is important to coordinate with the nephrologist the dental intervention considering the possible deterioration of general conditions of the patient during and after the dental treatment. Patients have to be treated considering all issues correlated to the kidney dysfunction and inserted in a strict follow-up program until transplantation. Early detection of oral pathologies and strong preventive measures can minimize the need for extensive dental care. Oral submucous fibrosis is a crippling fibrotic disorder prevalent in South East Asia, mostly in India. Incidence of oral submucous fibrosis in India is 0.2-0.5% of population. Nasolabial flap proved itself to be extremely vascular and thus a safe flap to use. One stage reconstruction can be safely completed by depeithelization and transbuccaltunneling (when indicated for intraoral use). It is a safe minor procedure done under general anesthesia with which good results can be achieved in small to moderately sized defects in oral and maxillofacial region. Interincisal mouth opening achieved with Nasolabial flap is satisfactory. It is a good choice for immediate reconstruction of anterior oral and maxillofacial defects following resection. Buccal fat pad functions well as a pedicled graft in the surgical management of oral submucous fibrosis. The healing is usually uneventful. Interincisal opening achieved is also satisfactory, No particular disadvantages are seen with Buccal Fat Pad.
