This book cover, with its central star shape, exerts an emotional pull like the North Star for nighttime wayfarers.Our Nova Stella cover comes from the 1789 binding of Missale Sacri Ordinis Praedicatorum, printed during the Settecento period by Octavio Puccinelli publishers. During this time bookbinding became at once simpler and yet more complex. The sewing was done on recessed cords to give the spines a smooth appearance and so, while the structure of books was uncomplicated, decoration became increasingly elaborate.The free space around the central object is as important as the ornamentation that surrounds it, just as deep space is part of what makes stars so inspiring. Here we see brocade with floral and heart shapes, gilt-edged broad string iron lines, single punch gilding and a cross with flowers and initials.

Stella Walsh, who was born in Poland but raised in the United States, competed for Poland at the 1932 and 1936 Olympics, winning gold and silver in the 100 meters. Published posthumously in 1766, A Journal to Stella by Jonathan Swift is a complete collection consisting of sixty-five letters he wrote to Esther Johnson, whom he bestowed the name of Stella. It is known that Stella is the name Swift gave to Esther Johnson. They met when she was only eight years old and knew each other for the entirety of the rest of their lives. Swift was first a mentor to young Esther. He taught her to read and write then introduced her to the arts. Jonathan’s relationship to Esther is intriguing. While they shared a friendship for many years, Jonathan left her in Ireland when he moved to London for some time. In that time, he drew interest from several other women, but nothing came of those relationships. However, when a man showed interest in Esther and wished to propose, the letters disclose how Jonathan prevented this from happening. Such interference provides greater evidence for the affection he felt for Stella. There are no accounts from Stella herself, but Swift depicts her character wonderfully as a loyal, kind, and clever woman. Io e la mia compagna Laura abbiamo l'abitudine di regalare ai nostri figli Battista e Nina dei regali (giochi o altro), costruiti in casa da noi. Nina ama molto colorare, perci quest'anno il naturale regalo di compleanno stato quest'album disegnato dal suo pap . Ma il suo pap uno scrittore con un passato di editore di rivista per bambini, il mensile "Etuleto". Pertanto l'evoluzione altrettanto naturale dell'originario album per Nina lo ha condotto a questo prodotto finito per le librerie. E per i vostri figli. Perch questo album non vuole essere un semplice album da colorare, ma qualcosa in pi . Vuole infatti essere un utile strumento per i vostri bambini. Uno strumento ludico per i bimbi pi piccoli che si limiteranno a colorarne i disegni con fantasia, cercando di stare all'interno degli spazi del disegno. Uno strumento didattico per i bambini pi grandicelli che si potranno cimentare nei loro primi esperimenti di lettura con parole e numeri. Ho utilizzato apposta il solo alfabeto maiuscolo per la filastrocca a didascalia dei disegni (che i bimbi potranno imparare e usare nei loro giochi) e dei bei numeri a pi di pagina e nell'indice da colorare. Non ultimo, questo album vuole essere anche un piccolo elogio sia delle mamme, che con dedizione e spesso abnegazione si dedicano ai propri piccoli, sia di tutti i loro cuccioli, che imparano giorno per giorno la vita e si accingono ad affrontarla.
