** AN OBSERVER BEST DEBUT NOVELIST FOR 2023 ** 'A voice unlike any other' OBSERVER 'I fell in love immediately' MAX PORTER 'A writer of imagination and flair' ECONOMIST 'Smart, subversive, funny, heartbreaking' KAMILA SHAMSIE 'Buoro's writing deserves to inspire a generation of superheroes' THE TIMES Fifteen-year-old Andrew Aziza lives in Kontagora, Nigeria, where his days are spent about town with his droogs, Slim and Morocca, grappling with his fantasies about white girls – especially blondes – and wondering who his father is. When he's not in church, at school or attempting to form 'Africa's first superheroes', he obsesses over mathematical theorems, ideas of black power and HXVX: the Curse of Africa. Sure enough, the reluctantly nicknamed 'Andy Africa' soon falls hopelessly and inappropriately in love with the first white girl he lays eyes on, Eileen. But at the church party held to celebrate her arrival, multiple crises loom. An unfamiliar man claims, despite his mother's denials, to be Andy's father, and the gathering of an anti-Christian mob is headed for the church – both set to shake the foundations of everything Andy knows and loves. The Five Sorrowful Mysteries of Andy Africa announces a dazzling, distinctive, new literary voice. Profound, exhilarating and highly original, this tragicomic novel is a stunning exploration of the contemporary African 'condition', the relentless infiltration of Western culture and, most of all, the ordinary but impossible challenges of coming of age in a turbulent world.

The Many Lives of Andy Warhol is more than a biography: it’s a look into Warhol’s greatest creation: himself.Warhol was known as the king of pop art, but the famous artist was secretly never satisfied with a single style and his journey took him from graphic designs of shoes, women’s fashions and glamour magazines to owning and publishing his own film and gossip magazine, Interview. Stuart Lenig takes us behind the scenes to explore Warhol’s many innovations in the art world. Warhol was a titanic technician, making art from new techniques. His designs for Glamour and Vogue used a innovative blotted line technique for drawing and blotting the illustrations to make them appear printed. He turned common shoe designs into whimsical graphics. Warhol liked to shock people with images of death. Warhol caused a stir by making prints of a recently deceased Marilyn Monroe. He startled spectators with a paintings of a headline: “129 die in Jet.” Works that span Warhol’s entire career are discussed here alongside the continuing influence of diverse styles and forms that inspired them. He bought and collected antiques, classic Americana, camp and kitsch, primitive objects, and Native textiles. He was highly eclectic and saw nothing wrong with mixing and merging different historical styles. He blended Dada, Minimalism, Rococo, and Surrealism with abandon and finess. An introduction and ten chapters take readers through studies of the many lives of the artist as a performer, director, writer, technologist, printmaker, caricaturist, and critic of the art scene. In Warhol’s work we learn that the importance of the ancient and the contemporary form guided his renderings of the human form and his insights into contemporary society. He constantly reinvented and transformed his own language of signs. With lush descriptions and images,.The Many Lives of Andy Warhol reveals Warhol's life and art in new ways provides exceptional insights into the artist at work.

I have been a photographer since 2003 accumulating well over 100,000 photos of beautiful women across the country. My plan is to release a series of ART NUDE and NON-NUDE ARCHIVES featuring a few of my favorite models so that my fans can enjoy some of the beauty I have been lucky to capture over the years. I have always enjoyed capturing the raw natural beauty of everyday women, that are not always professional models, but for a moment in time want to be that muse for others in the world.

In early 2005, Richard Polsky decided to put his much-loved, hard-won Warhol Fright Wig, up for auction at Christie's. The market for contemporary art was robust and he was hoping to turn a profit. His instinct seemed to be on target: his picture sold for $375,000. But if only Polsky had waited . . . Over the next two years, prices soared to unimaginable heights with multimillion-dollar deals that became the norm and not the exception. Buyers and sellers were baffled, art dealers were bypassed for auction houses, and benchmark prices proved that trees really do grow to the sky. Had the market lost all reason? In I Sold Andy Warhol (Too Soon), Polsky leads the way through this explosive, short-lived period when the "art world" became the "art market." He delves into the behind-the-scenes politics of auctions, the shift in power away from galleries, and the search for affordable art in a rich man's playing field. Unlike most in the art world, Polsky is not afraid to tell it like it is as he negotiates deals for clients in New York, London, and San Francisco and seeks out a replacement for his lost Fright Wig in a market that has galloped beyond his means. A compelling backdoor tell-all about the strange and fickle world of art collecting, I Sold Andy Warhol (Too Soon) takes an unvarnished look at how the industry shifted from art appreciation to monetary appreciation.

From the United Nations Security Council, through community organizing that changed the paradigm of municipal redevelopment, to the revolutionary post–Watergate Congress and his role spearheading new environmental, anti-cancer, and global vaccine health initiatives, Andy Maguire was on the front lines in seminal moments of recent American history.Ahead of the Curve is the riveting story of how Andy learned to accumulate power and leverage it for the public good. Andy’s terms in Congress coincided with the tumultuous times of the Israeli Six-Day War and the reform era of New York Mayor John Lindsay. After a successful unorthodox campaign in a staunch Republican district, he helped revive a hidebound House of Representatives and led an important new environmental movement there. Pacesetting international development work came next.Andy learned early on that no single person can create real change, discovering how to take risks, use power, build teams, spot compromises, and mobilize diverse interests to get constructive change done. His story is more than an inspiring memoir, and more than a portrait of a committed changemaker pursuing the common good. It also is a coming-of-age tale and an implementation handbook that shows others how to continue Andy’s work. This vivid insider’s view of fifty years of world history by Michael Takiff, bestselling author of A Complicated Man: The Life of Bill Clinton as Told by Those Who Knew Him, is both a compelling read and a beacon of hope for the current era.Ahead of the Curve is an exceptionally valuable and important book for those who seek to confront today’s challenges to American democracy and a stable world order.
