This textbook features the best of traditional methods for learning ancient Greek, with an especially strong focus on composition work. But the text also includes innovative drills and stimulating readings and sentences, designed to provide a gateway to discussions about Greek literature, history, and culture. The text presupposes the mastery of no other foreign language, including Latin, and thus fully explicates the most basic principles of tense, part of speech, etc. Particularly difficult aspects of the Greek language, like accentuation or the principles of euphonic change, are introduced gradually yet fully. The relative frequency of forms, vocabulary, and constructions in Greek literature informs the organization and order of the text. With the completion of the companion text, A Course in Attic Greek II, the student will be prepared to read any ancient author in the original, including works in Koine Greek.

In this compelling and meticulously researched biography, delve into the life of Theresa May like never before. From the modest, tradition-steeped streets of Eastbourne to the hallowed halls of Westminster, this book unveils the remarkable journey of a woman who transcended her humble beginnings to shape modern Britain. With an intricately woven narrative that blends personal anecdotes, incisive political analysis, and the textured backdrop of post-war Britain, readers are invited into the inner workings of a storied career marked by both monumental achievements and profound personal challenges. Every chapter is a revelation-from the formative years where familial influences and the ethos of community instilled an unyielding sense of duty, to the charged atmosphere of Oxford's political debates that sowed the seeds of her future leadership. The biography navigates through the turbulence of Theresa May's ascent, spotlighting her pivotal roles as a determined backbencher, a pioneering Home Secretary, and ultimately, as Prime Minister during one of the nation's most contentious periods, including the fraught debates and dramatic deadlocks of Brexit. Rich with cultural and historical detail, the narrative offers unique insights into the relentless pressures of media scrutiny, the intricate ballet of parliamentary battles, and the personal sacrifices behind the public persona. It is a story of resilience, ambition, and the relentless pursuit of a vision for a united Britain, even as political currents threatened to overwhelm her. This is not merely a chronicle of events, but a portrait of a leader whose legacy continues to resonate, inviting readers to reconsider the complex interplay between personal conviction and political destiny. An essential read for anyone fascinated by modern British history, leadership under pressure, and the human stories behind the headlines.

Here, Patrick Crowhurst identifies the crucial political problem that faced Czechoslovakia between 1918 and 1939 - the rift between the Czechs and the Sudeten Germans that would open the way for the rise of Konrad Henlein's right-wing 'Sudeten Deutsch' party, and which was exploited ruthlessly by Hitler during Nazi Germany's 1938 annexation of Czechoslovakia. A History of Czechoslovakia Between the Wars deepens our understanding of a fragile Europe before World War II, and is essential for students and scholars of 20th century history.

A Brief History of Bradford's Battery
Bradford's Battery was raised early in the war (spring/summer 1861). It went to Virginia in late 1861, but remained in North Carolina and southeast Virginia. It was involved in some of the lesser known campaigns, such as Suffork (Va.), and Plymouth (N.C.). It became a part of Lee's Army of Northern Virginia during the Petersburg Campaign (Summer 1864), and was surrendered at Appomattox. A former officer of the battery, Patrick Hoy wrote these memoirs about 1903. We have added to his roster from details we have found in later research.

nidottu
The bestselling novel and major film about love, loss and hope from the twice Carnegie Medal-winning Patrick Ness. The monster showed up just after midnight. As they do. But it isn't the monster Conor's been expecting. He's been expecting the one from his nightmare, the one he's had nearly every night since his mother started her treatments, the one with the darkness and the wind and the screaming... This monster is something different. Something ancient, something wild. And it wants the most dangerous thing of all from Conor. It wants the truth. Patrick Ness takes the final idea of the late, award-winning writer Siobhan Dowd and weaves an extraordinary and heartbreaking tale of mischief, healing and above all, the courage it takes to survive.
