Excerpts from 'An Introduction': The word philosophy means, at least, study of beliefs regarding God, existence, conduct, etc. and man's relation with the universe....But to restrict the word to this connotation and speak of Vedanta as philosophy would not even half express what Vedanta means. It is all this of course, plus a lot more. The Indian term for the Indian concept of this thing is "darshana", i.e. visualisation of Truth....Vedanta darshana means the art and science of bidding good-bye forever to the notion of grief and sorrow, and inviting in its stead a permanent state of balance, bliss and peace....This Vedanta thing is not an integral part of any particular religion; yet it is exactly what all the doctors have ordered. A few cc. of it injected in any religion would be real shot in the arm, and vitalise it all the more... What is laid down here is by no means "new". It has been with us for many thousand years. The only newness can be in the manner of its presentation. Try its flavour. It may do you a whole world of good, and no harm at all...This little book is a primer in catechism form. Things are only hinted at here by way of an aperitif. The only thing it asks for is brains, and readiness to use them without prejudice.

An Introduction to Swaminarayan Hindu Theology

An Introduction to Swaminarayan Hindu Theology

Swami Paramtattvadas

Since its inception over two hundred years ago, Swaminarayan Hinduism has flourished into a transnational movement described as one of the fastest growing Hindu groups in the world. Despite being one of the largest and most visible Hindu traditions both in India and the West, surprisingly little is known about what the Swaminarayan fellowship believes. An Introduction to Swaminarayan Hindu Theology provides a comprehensive doctrinal account of the Swaminarayan tradition's belief system, drawing on its rich corpus of theological literature, including the teachings of Swaminarayan himself and classical commentaries on canonical Vedantic texts. Part I delineates the sources and tools of Swaminarayan Hindu theology, while Part II systematically expounds upon its distinctive five eternal entities - Parabrahman, Ak?arabrahman, maya, isvara and jiva - and mukti (spiritual liberation). In presenting these key themes theologically and lucidly, Swami Paramtattvadas makes the Swaminarayan Hindu belief system intelligible to scholars, students and serious readers.

Spiritual teacher and international bestseller author Swami Dhyan Giten's new and beautiful book "Man is part of the Whole" is embarking on the greatest adventure in life, which is our real destiny in life. We are to disappear as we are to become that which is our real destiny: the whole. The book presents a great synthesis between love and meditation. The book is divided in three parts: Love and The Art of Living, The Art of Creativity and Meditation and The Art of Being. Swami Prem Pathik writes in the foreword to the book: "The people of the world need the fragrance of love. It is Giten's contribution to humanity.", and the musician Deva Emanuel writes: "Swami Dhyan Giten's words are like the 9th symphony of Beethoven. The Symphony No. 9, the final complete symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven, is regarded by many critics as a masterpiece of Western classical music. The 9th symphony of Beethoven is dedicated to all mankind." Swami Dhyan Giten says that humanity is living in a very transformative period right now, which will end either in a major climate crisis, a third world war or the transformation of humanity. He wrote this book as a way to help humanity in this difficult period, and to help seekers of truth and meditators to live through this period. In this book Giten presents The New Man, A New Being, A New Consciousness -Vision for a New Humanity, which is an invitation to the intelligent and creative people of this threatened world. The New Man is going to be the salt of the earth, who is concerned with how to increase silence, joy, love, truth, compassion and creativity in life. It is a response to the report of the United Nations from the World Commission of Environment and Development "Our Common Future", which identifies the major issues threatening the future of the world. The New Man presents a proposal for a viable humanity. It presents a diagnosis of the psychological and spiritual causes, which divides human beings into warring factions. It outlines the critical steps required if there is to be any future for humanity and the earth. In a letter to the U.S. President Giten says that the past of humanity has been ugly. He says that earth needs the birth of a new man, who represents peace and brotherhood. It is the birth of a new man that can live at peace with existence. In a letter to the U.N. Secretary-General Giten says that humanity is suffering from a lack of love, which is the basic cause of all wars, conflicts and problems.
