About 80% of the industrialized world has not taken advantage of Six Sigma techniques to improve productivity and profit. These small and mid-sized corporations can benefit from Six Sigma methods but are struggling with how to deploy them on the scale suitable for their organizations. This book explains the leadership, strategy, execution, integration, alignment, and performance measurement issues that are universal to all organizations deploying Six Sigma, and then shows you how they can be applied successfully in small and mid-size organizations. Many books cover the statistical tools in detail, but focus on their use exclusively in large multinational companies. With models, hands-on techniques, and a framework for Six Sigma success in smaller organization, this book shows you how to retrofit Six Sigma to meet the requirements and constraints of your organization, whatever its size. Six Sigma for Small and Mid-Sized Organizations is a practical executive Six Sigma cookbook and ""give me the answers quick"" guide that provides a structured roadmap to success. It makes the power of Six Sigma so user friendly that any size organization can access and benefit from it.
This book traces the history of crime comics from their beginnings to the current resurgence and analyzes the cultural forces that give rise to influential works like Frank Miller's Sin City. Crime comic books in the 1950s caused controversy leading to their suppression and near extinction. Twenty-five years later, the dark hero, femme fatale, and bleak outlook of crime story comic books are even more striking and subversive. Terrence Wandtke traces the history of crime comics from their beginnings to the current resurgence and analyzes the cultural forces that give rise to influential works like Frank Miller's Sin City, Brian Azzarello's 100 Bullets, and Ed Brubaker's Criminal. The Dark Night Returns is the third book published in the RIT Press' Comics Studies Monograph Series. The series editor is Dr. Gary Hoppenstand, Professor of English at Michigan State University. TERRENCE WANDTKE is a professor at Judson University. His books include The Meaning of Superhero Comics (McFarland) and Ed Brubaker: Conversations (forthcoming from the University Press of Mississippi). He is the founder of the Imago Film Festival.
"Drug Lord is the real thing. Raw, immediate, indispensable."?Don Winslow, author of The Power of Dog and California Fire and Life "The [drug smuggling] business goes on, the slaughtered dead pile up, the US agencies continue to ratchet up their budgets, the prisons grow larger and all the real rules of the game are in this book, some kind of masterpiece."?Charles Bowden, from the introduction "Pablo Acosta was a living legend in his Mexican border town of Ojinaga. He smuggled tremendous amounts of drugs into the United States; he survived numerous attempts on his power?and his life?by rivals; and he blessed the town with charity and civic improvements. He was finally slain in 1987 during a raid by Mexican officials with the cooperation of US law enforcement. Poppa has turned out a detailed and exciting book, covering in depth Acosta's life; the other drug factions that battled with him; the village of Ojinaga; and the logistics of the drug operation. The result is a nonfiction account with enough greed, treachery, shoot-outs, and government corruption to fascinate true crime and crime fiction readers alike. Highly recommended."?Library Journal Terrence E. Poppa, an award-winning journalist, was a finalist for a 1987 Pulitzer Prize for his investigations into the connection between crime and government in Mexico. He was featured in Standoff in Mexico, a PBS production about fraudulent elections in Mexico. Due to his unique insights into the world of Mexican drug trafficking, Poppa has been widely interviewed on radio and television, including Larry King Live and The O'Reilly Factor.
Finding cool languages, tools, or development techniques is easy-new ones are popping up every day. Convincing co-workers to adopt them is the hard part. The problem is political, and in political fights, logic doesn't win for logic's sake. Hard evidence of a superior solution is not enough. But that reality can be tough for programmers to overcome. In Driving Technical Change: Why People On Your Team Don't Act on Good Ideas, and How to Convince Them They Should, Adobe software evangelist Terrence Ryan breaks down the patterns and types of resistance technologists face in many organizations. You'll get a rich understanding of what blocks users from accepting your solutions. From that, you'll get techniques for dismantling their objections-without becoming some kind of technocratic Machiavelli. In Part I, Ryan clearly defines the problem. Then in Part II, he presents "resistance patterns"-there's a pattern for each type of person resisting your technology, from The Uninformed to The Herd, The Cynic, The Burned, The Time Crunched, The Boss, and The Irrational. In Part III, Ryan shares his battle-tested techniques for overcoming users' objections. These build on expertise, communication, compromise, trust, publicity, and similar factors. In Part IV, Ryan reveals strategies that put it all together-the patterns of resistance and the techniques for winning buy-in. This is the art of organizational politics. In the end, change is a two-way street: In order to get your co-workers to stretch their technical skills, you'll have to stretch your soft skills. This book will help you make that stretch without compromising your resistance to playing politics. You can overcome resistance-however illogical-in a logical way.
One of the Little Rock Nine tells how his life changed when he became a symbol of desegregation. Sober news reports of a U.S. Army convoy rumbling across the bridge into Little Rock cannot overpower this intimate, powerful, personal account of the integration of Little Rock Central High School. Showing what it felt like to be one of those nine students who wanted only a good high school education, Roberts' rich narrative and candid voice take readers through that rocky year, helping us realize that the historic events of the Little Rock integration crisis happened to real people - to children, parents, our fellow citizens.
An examination of the popular horror comics of the 1950s and their re-emergence thirty years later. The popular horror comics of the 1950s not only frightened their readers, they also alarmed Cold War politicians who enacted the prohibitive Comics Code, sacrificing horror on the altar of good taste. Wandtke examines and explainsthe story of the resurgence of horror comics and introduces readers to the new shape of horror comics within the American culture in the 1980s. Terrence Wandtke is a professor at Judson University and the author of The Dark Night Returns (RIT, 2015).

Words is a collection of basic truths, universal law, wisdom, inspiration, reason, thoughts, views, ideas, concepts, convictions, and facts. These observations and realizations are from the minds and hearts and life experiences of very remarkable human beings who preceded us. I honor and thank them all: 347 men and 33 women. There are 686 entries. Many contributors have only one entry, while others have a dozen or more. This assortment of easy reading covers the previous 3,000 years, from Homer to the 20th century. The final product was gleaned from over 10,000 such items recorded for posterity. Humanity has not really learned much new, not anything that really matters concerning living a simple, honest, happy, fulfilling, and rewarding life on our lonely planet; it is just stated in different ways, and at different times, down through the centuries.
The author (now 14 years old) has always loved animals and superheroes. When he was 9 years old, he wrote this book combining his two favorite things. He imagined that "Cow" and "Sheep" live on a farm and they become best friends. They love to explore, go on adventures, and use their imaginations -- and they also begin to think they are superheroes. Ultimately, this book is about self awareness and friendship. Come along for the fun

Terrence Steven Lake grew up black in Hamtramck, Michigan, with friends of all different colors. While he could get along with everyone, he also spoke his mind. For instance, there was a white man at work from a totally different environment. The author told his co-worker that the white race as a whole had been the most violent race of people in the history of the world, explaining how the pharaohs came to Africa to enslave people to build pyramids pointing at certain planets at a certain time of the year. After meeting and marrying Valerie, the author found himself increasingly questioning religion. Doubts about the nature and purpose of God, the universe, and man's place in the world began to plague him.In sharing his life story, the author hopes to show that there is a reason that different races were put on planet Earth, and until that purpose is fulfilled, those who are not enlightened will be a threat to peace.
Terrence discovered that when analyzed, scripture verses that bible teachers use to claim that day begins at sunset, show that the light that God called day, does not begin at sunset. Though they claim that night comes first, and day comes after, God's covenant puts, day first, followed by night after. God said that His covenant with day and night can never be broken. There are many instances where Bible teachers tell us a completely different thing, from what the Christian Bible and the Jewish Torah teach.Does the Jewish Torah or the Christian Bible teach that God gave Moses two different calendars, one calendar to use when locating and celebrating the feasts of Leviticus 23:4-44, and a different calendar to use when locating and celebrating the feasts of Leviticus 23:2-3?This document reveals the mystery why Israelites, Jews, and some Christians, use the calendar that God gave Moses when they are locating and celebrating the feast of Leviticus 23:4-44, but a different calendar, when they are locating and celebrating the feast of Leviticus 23-2-3.Contained in this short presentation, are hidden things that give a different perspective to Theological and Astronomical scholarships. His other book, "You Have Heard", treats each topic with greater detail, and takes us deeper into other hidden things that Theologians, Doctors of Divinity, Scientists, and most people, never knew.

Trust isn't automatic-it's granted, tested, and sometimes shattered. But without it, relationships break down, organizations falter, and success remains out of reach. For over 25 years, I've dedicated my life to innovation in robotics, where precision and reliability are paramount. Yet, in all my years working with technology, one truth remains: robots may operate flawlessly, but trust between people is anything but predictable. Unlike robots, trust isn't programmed-it must be built.I wasn't born trusting. Growing up in Detroit, I learned early that trust could be a liability. My world was quick to judge and slow to believe in the potential of a young boy with big dreams. My journey to becoming a pioneering robotics engineer was not just about mastering technology-it was about learning to trust myself and others, and in my potential to grow.In this book, I take you on a deep dive into the power of trust-how it shapes our relationships, fuels leadership, and determines the trajectory of our lives. Through raw personal stories and hard-earned lessons, I reveal principles that will challenge you to rethink trust-how you give it, how you earn it, and most importantly, how you rebuild it when it's lost.Terrence Southern is an entrepreneur, robotics engineer, and popular speaker. He dedicates his life to the future of technology. His passion for the technology field shines through in all his endeavors. From impactful mentorship to innovation, Terrence is committed to stimulating minds and cultivating our new generation of leaders.
