Ho deciso di scrivere questo manuale con lo scopo di permettere a tutte le persone che non hanno particolari conoscenze tecniche e pratiche, di apprendere ed eventualmente mettere in pratica, le nozioni di base sulle lavorazioni dei materiali compositi, sviluppando cos la capacit di realizzare manufatti in composito. Tale manuale, pu anche svolgere il ruolo di testo ABC del settore. Il manuale non si offre come prodotto da utilizzare per la progettazione e calcolo avanzato dei compositi, ma si rivolge invece a tutti gli appassionati di tecnica, in particolare agli auto-costruttori di velivoli ultraleggeri, aeromodellisti, modellisti, al settore nautico e artistico, a chi realizza particolari per la propria auto, moto, agli studenti delle scuole superiori ed a tutti gli "smanettoni" che amano auto-costruire manufatti sfruttando questa formidabile tecnologia. Adatto quindi a tutti gli appassionati di tecnologia ed amanti del fai da te. Tutte le informazioni che troverete non sono state scritte da un professionista del settore, bens da un autodidatta, che riporta la propria esperienza pratica e teorica cumulata in vari decenni di passione per questa tecnologia. Lo scopo del manuale, anche di colmare il gap presente in questo settore, sia a livello di letteratura tecnica, che pratica. Infatti troverete in commercio innumerevoli manuali in lingua inglese, la maggior parte statunitensi, ma ben poco in letteratura italiana. Lo stile con cui stato redatto risulta piuttosto semplice e non troppo ingegneristico, infatti spesso per definire dei concetti sono citati esempi pratici della vita comune, il tutto corredato da semplici disegni, illustrazioni e tabelle. La maggior parte delle illustrazioni sono state realizzate personalmente, sia con il computer, che a mano libera. Di seguito, quando si parla di materiali compositi, ci riferiremo a matrici con rinforzo in fibra di vetro, carbonio e aramidico, tralasciando le altre tipologie esistenti. I primi capitoli hanno una funzione introduttiva, con le nozioni pi elementari, quelli centrali sono pi tecnici, trattano quindi i materiali ed i processi previsti, quelli finali riguardano le realizzazioni pratiche. Per molti quest'ultimi risulteranno la parte pi interessante del manuale. Infine, troverete un glossario tecnico italiano/inglese, che tratta la terminologia del settore ed un appendice con varie informazioni e tabelle, di carattere generale.
