This matching folio includes every song from Bob Dylan's album Shadows In The Night, the critically acclaimed album of standard pop tunes originally recorded by Frank Sinatra. Featuring all ten songs arranged for Piano, Voice and Guitar, with full lyrics and chord boxes, this songbook is perfect for fans of Dylan, Sinatra or simply fantastic tunes. The album itself was highly anticipated, with Bob Dylan announcing he was "un-covering" a collection of classic pop standards, hand-selected by himself. Dylan is certainly no stranger to cover versions, drawing from the folk tradition in his early career and putting out 2 back-to-back folk cover albums in the early 1990s. The news that this album would be a collection of songs made famous by Sinatra came as a surprise, considering Sinatra's derision of the early days of the folk scene. Despite this, time forged a mutual respect, with Dylan even, perhaps half-jokingly, claiming he was merely a "song and dance man". Dylan's long-term love for songs such as these resulted in Shadows In The Night, a collection of songs made famous by one of the greatest singers ever, performed by possibly the greatest songwriter ever.Shadows In The Night is not just a collection of standards, however, it's a beautiful reinterpretation of simple songs featuring some of Dylan's best singing in recent years. With this Bob Dylan sheet music, you can learn all songs from the album, including I'm A Fool To Want You, Full Moon And Empty Arms, and Why Try To Change Me Now. The career of Bob Dylan has been full of twists, turns and continual reinvention. Throughout, though, the consistent thread has been that he dictates his own path, and this album is an intensely personal one. On the album, you can hear the rustling of paper, the measured intake of breath, and you get the real sense that these songs are truly meaningful. The Shadows In The Night sheet music allows you to learn these wonderful new arrangements in their entirety, the subdued Guitar chords, the Piano accompaniment, and Dylan's unmistakeable vocal part. Songs like Stay With Me and Autumn Leaves feature melancholy melodies that take on an entirely new meaning when sung by such a musical legend, while the highlight of the album, That Lucky Old Sun, has a stunningly uplifting vocal performance that perfectly complements the quietly beautiful arrangement of his band. The subtle, subdued and simple arrangements of these tunes are begging to be covered, performed and played in your own home. The calm backing instruments throughout the album make this Shadows In The Night sheet music songbook perfect for a solo Piano performance, a singer's reinvention or an intimate and acoustic band cover. With accurate transcriptions, this Bob Dylan sheet music is the best place from which to learn these incredible covers that just call out to be sung over and over.

Robert Shelton met Bob Dylan when the young singer arrived in New York in 1961. He became Dylan's friend, champion, and critic. His book, first published in 1986, was hailed as the definitive unauthorized biography of this moody, passionate genius. Shelton tells the intimate and first-hand story of Bob Dylan's formative years in Greenwich Village NYC, and it is the only biography that has been written with his active cooperation. Dylan gave Shelton access to his parents, Abe and Beatty Zimmerman - whom no other journalist has ever interviewed; to his brother, David; to childhood friends from Hibbing; to fellow students and friends from Minneapolis; and to Suze Rotolo, the muse immortalized on the cover of Freewheelin', among others. Concluding Dylan's story backstage during his triumphant 1978 world tour, No Direction Home took 20 years to complete and when it was finally published the book received widespread critical acclaim. Following his Nobel Prize for Literature Award in 2016, Dylan's standing is higher than at any time since the 1960s and Shelton's book is now seen as a classic. This new illustrated edition, published in the year of Dylan's 80th birthday, includes key images of Dylan throughout his incredible, enduring career, making it a must for all Dylan fans.

No period of Bob Dylan's six-decade career confounds fans more than the 1980s. The singer began the decade with Saved, the second in a trio of explicitly religious records, and a tour in which he declined to play his older songs because of concern they were anti-god. Dylan's ambivalence about the songs that made him an icon was mirrored by fans, many of whom found his post-conversion messages strident and judgmental. This made Saved his worst selling album in years and set a pattern for the next several years. Despite being a prolific time, in which the singer released seven studio albums, the decade was defined by inconsistency. Throughout the 1980s, some of his most profound work alternated with lackluster compositions and indifferent performances - sometimes on the same album. However, even as Dylan struggled artistically, all of his albums contained reminders of why he continued to be celebrated. By the end of the decade, his perseverance - both on stage and in the studio - and a spontaneous collaboration with some of his peers coalesced into his best received releases since the 1970s. Rather than closing a book, the combination of Oh Mercy and the first Traveling Wilburys record pointed to new chapters. The 1990s began a remarkable run of success that few popular artists have managed at any stage of their careers.

Bob Dylan is the magician who sprinkled poetic fairy dust on to the popular music of the early sixties and his songwriting sparked a revolution and changed rock music forever. The diminutive poet/singer claimed he was merely a 'song and dance man' but Dylan altered popular music from intellectually bereft teenage rebellion into a serious adult art form worthy of academic study. Dylan headed for the sixties as a Little Richard rock 'n' roller but soon turned acoustic folkie and after absorbing the music and words of Woody Guthrie, Robert Johnson and Brecht, he became a vagabond social troubadour. Basking in Rimbaud he transformed into a poetic symbolist before later immersing himself in lysergic beat surrealism. The chameleon of Dylan in the sixties was bewildering to his followers. His first album was a raw debut folk/blues. Then followed three acoustic poetic gems, three ground-breaking surreal ,electric wonders and four that were more mundane and country-tinged. But by the mid-sixties he was a strung-out polka-dotted rock star. He crashed (physically and mentally) before leaving the sixties as a clean-cut country crooner. Dylan had mutated more times than a trilobite. Dylan's ground-breaking music changed the world and his amazing story is revealed by exploring the eleven albums that he released between 1962 and 1970.
