Suffering in the Face of Death

Suffering in the Face of Death

Bryan R. Dyer

T. T.Clark Ltd
2018
nidottu
Suffering and death are two topics that are frequently referred to in the Epistle to the Hebrews, but have rarely been examined within scholarship on this important New Testament text. Dyer redresses the balance in this study of these topics, conducting a thorough investigation using semantic domain analysis. He incorporates recent advancements in modern linguistics, in particular the 'context of situation', and then connects these topics to the social situation addressed in Hebrews. In so doing he is able to reveal how the author is responding to the reality of suffering in the lives of his audience. With this awareness, it becomes clear how the author also responds to his audience's pain by creating models of endurance in suffering and death. These serve to motivate his audience toward similar endurance within their own social context.Dyer shows that it is possible to make significant determinations about the social setting of Hebrews based upon an examination and analysis of the language used therein.

The "Search For Truth" series continues, with "A rude awakening". The politically synchronistic journey progresses, as Christina is poisoned, and then abducted from the hospital to become patient zero in a dehumanizing scheme to take over the world. A new government is erected in the heart of the old south, by releasing peoples' primal instincts through a new wonder drug. The Entities believe by releasing generational racism and hate on a massive scale, people will kill each other off so they don't have to. The loyal soldiers who remain, become perfect worker bees in Entity factories and fields. The hidden monster that has been brewing under the surface since Civil Rights, will destroy collective evolution if not for Jason, Christina and their band of conscious truth seekers.

Stricken with a mental illness at the common stage in life where dreams and career possibilities surface, this book is about a young to middle-aged man named Bryan that faced rejection in a handful of career paths ultimately feeling pressured from within to become his own boss. This book takes the reader on a voyage of earning academic success, witnessing the ups and downs of those close to him as well as the healthcare bureaucracy, and experimenting with love though sometimes shallow. In retrospect Bryan concluded that, besides earning two degrees after his diagnosis, his work or informal training under a Vietnam veteran for just over six seasons at a public golf course had the most profound effect on him discovering manhood. Sacrifices were made. Friends and family were both negatively affected by this maddening illness that first exploded in Washington D.C. Bryan's marriage is very symbiotic, but it never would have worked without his wife's toughness learned and experienced while serving in the military for ten years. She demonstrates great skill in dealing with the adversity in their marriage.

Unrelenting Positivity

This is the third of many collections "From the Mind Of Critic." The short essays can be flipped through randomly, or read in succession. They run the gamut of human emotions from love, to hate, to fear. Along with a healthy dose of politics, humanism, unity, accountability and truth, this collection will hopefully stir the pot just enough to start conversations. If we could simply talk to each other like human beings, we'll find that many of our generational issues can be solved. Emotions soften when the fog lifts, making us realize we agree on a lot more than we disagree. We just need to get out of our own way, and remember everything we need to know we learned in kindergarten.

Bryan Radzin's riveting new book, "A Path Forward", is the fifth novel in his Search For Truth series. The narrative explores the polarities of the human spirit with a focus on truth, accountability, humanism versus lies, manipulation, and unconscionable viciousness. The inhumane Julie Bond and D.J. Bannon rule the United States through their killing machine promoting their own brand of toxic narcissism. In opposition are the Truth Seekers, divergent characters intent upon spreading unrelenting positivity. Their accomplishments are multidimensional and their risks seem insurmountable. Jason and Christina, reunify with their fathers developing a more profound connection. Their comrades span the globe, each with their own special skills to move the Truth Seeker's cause forward. The unchecked violent activity became the epiphany the complacent and apathetic masses needed to inspire change. The paradigm shift toward critical mass is the catalyst for real humanistic change on a path toward a new day.

With the death of his youngest child on Thanksgiving morning 2021, author Bryan Anderson faced a grief he could not comprehend, and healing seemed impossible. The book you now hold in your hand came from his own journey and was necessary for his own healing. This is a compilation of thirty-seven stories and a letter to his child, which were written mostly within the first year after his child’s death. It is deeply personal. It is raw in emotion. It also reflects how God worked with him during the many dark days that followed that Thanksgiving morning.
