This paper carries out a critical investigation pertaining to youth participation and empowerment in Africa using Zimbabwe as the case study. Youths have generally been neglected in critical decision making processes in Africa and beyond. They have been relegated to the role of mare spectators and not as active contributors to decision making processes. Failure to involve youths in decision making and development at both Local and National levels is a sustainable development threat as it works against the spirit of National continuity and Ubuntu. If youths are involved in decision making and development, sustainable Local and National development is a guaranteed reality as youths are well braced with the techniques of running modern day organisations in this digital era. A common statement linked to sustainable development in the African proverbs circles goes like "Youths are the leaders of tomorrow" which shows why youths should fit in the current leadership and management challenges for the destiny or fate of the nation rests in youths. An unescapable reality is that failure to empower and involve youths is an enemy of National continuity.
Die Innovation der Junior Secondary School in Ghana und Nigeria

Weitere Bedenken betrafen die nderungen im Pr fungssystem und die Einf hrung der Berufsberatung. Es gibt berw ltigende Belege daf r, dass bis zum Ende des zweiten Zyklus im Dezember 1999 in Ghana und auch in Nigeria bis zum Ende des zweiten Zyklus im September 1989 keine der innovativen Komponenten der JSS in irgendeiner Weise umgesetzt worden war.
L'innovation dans les écoles secondaires du premier cycle au Ghana et au Nigeria
Cette recherche est une r ponse pragmatique aux d bats qui ont suivi l'introduction d'un nouveau syst me secondaire au Ghana et au Nigeria. Elle vise tudier la r forme au cours de son cycle de vie, au Ghana entre 1974 et 1987 et au Nigeria entre 1982 et 1985, afin de d terminer dans quelle mesure les doutes exprim s sont fond s. La r forme a t con ue comme un ensemble complexe offrant une approche int gr e pour changer les valeurs ducatives, l'orientation et les r sultats de l'apprentissage. Les changements inh rents chaque aspect de la r forme ont des implications consid rables pour l'ensemble du syst me ducatif. Un l ment en particulier, le programme d'enseignement professionnel, a suscit une inqui tude imm diate l' poque en raison des r sultats d courageants des tentatives ant rieures similaires au Ghana, au Nigeria et dans d'autres pays. D'autres inqui tudes concernaient les changements dans le syst me d'examen et l'introduction de l'orientation et du conseil. Des preuves accablantes montrent qu' la fin du deuxi me cycle en d cembre 1999 au Ghana et du deuxi me cycle en septembre 1989 au Nigeria, aucun des l ments d'innovation de la JSS n'avait t mis en oeuvre de quelque mani re que ce soit.

Questa ricerca stata una risposta pragmatica ai dibattiti che hanno seguito l'introduzione di un nuovo sistema secondario in Ghana e in Nigeria e si propone di indagare la riforma durante il suo ciclo di vita in Ghana tra il 1974 e il 1987 e in Nigeria tra il 1982 e il 1985 per vedere quanto siano fondati i dubbi espressi. La riforma stata concepita come un pacchetto complesso che offre un approccio integrato per cambiare i valori educativi, l'orientamento e i risultati dell'apprendimento. I cambiamenti racchiusi in ogni aspetto della riforma hanno implicazioni di vasta portata per l'intero sistema educativo. Soprattutto un elemento, il curriculum professionalizzante, ha suscitato immediata preoccupazione all'epoca a causa delle prove scoraggianti di precedenti tentativi simili sia in Ghana che in Nigeria e in altri Paesi. Altre preoccupazioni riguardavano i cambiamenti nel sistema di esami e l'introduzione dell'orientamento e della consulenza. Ci sono prove schiaccianti che dimostrano che alla fine del secondo ciclo, nel dicembre 1999, in Ghana e anche in Nigeria, nel settembre 1989, nessuna delle componenti innovative del JSS era stata in qualche modo implementata.
