The Journal of Allen Brock weaves a narrative through the twists of an older and much different Earth. Negative energy has imposed physical challenges through Rift Space. This phenomenon wreaks havoc on electrical equipment and on weaponry. Wars rage; heroes rise and fall, hence the weave of the tapestry. The focus of Brock's narrative is Junipero Heights, a contested ground in the Highland. Highland, tucked in the eastern part of the Northern continent, is a rugged area, not easily assailed. For decades it has prevailed against the Hexas, Junipero's unrelenting enemy in the west who view themselves intellectually and culturally superior to the Native-born.In the backdrop stands Brock, the reticent hero. He is no saint, yet never the villain. Rouges and connivers peopled his world. Even friendlies have their agendas. Yet, the overarching questions remain unanswered, Why has victory over the Hexas been deferred? Why is that so many of the Native-born kinfolk remain pressed? How was it that the Hexas gained supremacy over half of the land? One day, while nursing a pint of ale in a remote casino in the Central Mosaic, Brock decides he's had enough. His words and actions reverberate from one end of the Northern Continent to the other. The future is altered, but not in the way Brock had intended.

The Flowering Hedgerow is a diary of the changing seasons and the "details of time", spanning the months from February to September--the end of winter to the end of summer--in the year 2016. In one sense a nature diary, it is also a diary of the human quotidian, giving human and nature equal weight. As flowers appear in the hedgerow with the coming of spring, so the themes of the diary gradually develop, in patches at first, then coming to full bloom and anticipating the impending fall.Enlivened by thoughts on time, theology and technology, and centred upon a few acres of wooded ground, this diary provides subtle undergrowth into which the reader is invited to delve.

What and where is Hamster Dam? Gary Weber, suspended from work after a distressing series of events involving his patient, Julie Wilcox, has had plenty of time alone to think . . . and remember forgotten things-to recall Hamster Dam. But was there ever any such television show, and would Hamster Dam itself be more or less real if there had been? Brian Warfield, friend and work senior, oversees Gary's case, but he, too, is drawn into a secret world that he dare not tell of and dare not forget. In this multi-faceted gem of uncanny science fiction, British author Quentin S. Crisp penetrates deep into our anxieties about the internet, offering a cautionary tale concerning the terrors in store for a world where there is no offline.

Defender is the first and only scholarly biography of Daniel H. Wells, one of the important yet historically neglected leaders among the nineteenth-century Mormons—leaders like Heber C. Kimball, George Q. Cannon, and Jedediah M. Grant. An adult convert to the Mormon faith during the Mormons’ Nauvoo period, Wells developed relationships with men at the highest levels of the church hierarchy, emigrated to Utah with the Mormon pioneers, and served in a series of influential posts in both church and state. Wells was known especially as a military leader in both Nauvoo and Utah—he led the territorial militia in four Indian conflicts and a confrontation with the US Army (the Utah War). But he was also the territorial attorney general and obtained title to all the land in Salt Lake City from the federal government during his tenure as the mayor of Salt Lake City. He was Second Counselor to Brigham Young in the LDS Church's First Presidency and twice served as president of the Mormon European mission. Among these and other accomplishments, he ran businesses in lumbering, coal mining, manufacturing, and gas production; developed roads, ferries, railroads, and public buildings; and presided over a family of seven wives and thirty-seven children. Wells witnessed and influenced a wide range of consequential events that shaped the culture, politics, and society of Utah in the latter half of the nineteenth century. Using research from relevant collections, sources in public records, references to Wells in the Joseph Smith papers, other contemporaneous journals and letters, and the writings of Brigham Young, Quentin Thomas Wells has created a serious and significant contribution to Mormon history scholarship.

The Travels of Herbert T. Eustace. This is a story of allegory, political satire and humorous fiction set in a time and place many of us would wish to recognise, but have never experienced; a place where time and distance are often unreliably fluid. This is also the story of a relationship, a very special relationship between one man and a dog. Easily described as a cross between 'Animal Farm' and 'Wallace & Grommit' the two main characters, Herbert and Grumpy, become lost in a unique series of travel adventures; adventures that force them to confront prejudice and inequalities in a sometimes confusing world, a world where animals and humans are able to communicate at an equitable level.Herbert T. Eustace is single and of indeterminate age. He lives in a particular historical space, perhaps even a future space, where Nations are at peace with one another and 'pollution' is a word of the distant past. Animals and not humans are now in control of planetary destiny, ruling with a quiet, conflict free even handedness. Grumpy the dog is a companion to Herbert and in command of most proceedings making up their day to day existence. So when an unusually independent decision is made to go travelling by Herbert, Grumpy makes sure he is included in his plans. Being a qualified traveller, and having a certificate and a badge to prove it, Grumpy is sure there will be no unforeseen circumstances capable of fazing such a very capable individual. Herbert, however, is no quite so sure.

I returned to Mexico so many times because of the joy, music, colors, nature, old religion, and outdoor lifestyle that goes with this gentle climate, Many of the negative things you hear about Mexico do happen to some degree somewhere but are over reported to the neglect of wonderful things. I returned because of the expat community, the marketplaces, personal medical care, inexpensive living, but more. There is a spirit and soul to this Land of the Virgin that can move you down deep. That is what this book is about.
Listen Niece...: A 30 day self reflection designed to love your best life in Christ
"Listen Niece..." started off as conversations I wanted to have with my 11-year-old niece. After I started writing them down, I thought some topics were too advanced and her parents might be better suited to have those conversations when they were ready. However, I had an unshakable feeling that these conversations might benefit and help someone else who is of age to comprehend the complexity of being in the world, but not of the world. Thus, this book was born. It is comprised of daily self-reflections and an accompanying journal prompt that will invite you to write down your most authentic self-reflective thoughts. With each daily read, I hope by day 30 the self-reflection guides you on the journey to live your best life in Christ. It is my hope that you reaffirm the sovereignty of God the father, invite Christ in all areas of your life (especially those you may struggle in) and most importantly ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in all things.

Morbid Tales

In these eight immaculately realised strange stories, Quentin S. Crisp delves deep into the decadence of contemporary life. The fresh originality of the tales and their settings: an English country garden in 'Cousin X'; contemporary Japan in 'A Lake': is matched by the elegance of the writing. They are unified, perhaps, by a yearning for the achingly perfect, ecstatic moment. As Mark Samuels points out in his Foreword, Crisp's fiction is '. . . too multi-layered, too individual, to be labelled. One can spot influences here and there, a dash of this and a sprinkling of that, but the end result is much greater than the sum of its parts.'
