Ten year old Alex had no idea of what his mom meant when she mentioned a 'black hole' that was supposedly under his bed. All he knew was when he found his Swiss Army knife, which he knew had to be somewhere under his bed, he would sneak out his bedroom window and head for his fort to meet up with his buddies. Alex had learned over the years how to 'sweet talk' his mother, which led to Alex's diminished time spent in 'jail'. He knew it wasn't right to not help his mother as he should; after all, with his father in Heaven, Alex was the only 'man' in the household. But he didn't behave like a man or a young boy that his father would have been proud of. And so he continued with his unbecoming behavior, clueless of what lay before him.
