King Arthur is one of the greatest legends of all time. The story of Arthur is a complex, and has been written by numerous writers for different purposes over a dozen centuries. To some, King Arthur was a mythic figure, never having lived, created to establish a line of descent. To others, King Arthur was a composite of numerous men who'd fought against the Saxon wave of immigration and invasion. They assert that Arthur was made from portions of each man, conflated and inflated in achievements, and given a name to cap off the semi-fictional figure. And finally to some, Arthur, King of the Britons, was a historical personage, having lived in a dark age of record keeping, but who in fact inspired the stories, and is remembered for deeds which, if they are lost to history in detail and clarity, nonetheless existed, and happened. This incredible work contains vivid poetry about King Arthur, his life, his loves, his foes, his wars, and his legend. Also included are stunning black-and-white illustrations and a short story speculating of the mysterious death of King Arthur.
The Great Return by Arthur Machen, Fiction, Fantasy
THEY FOUND THE HOLY GRAIL IN WALES DURING WORLD WAR I"And then, from what they do tell me, all the people did go mad, crying and weeping and calling out all manner of things at the top of their voices. And at last nothing would do but they must all go up to the churchyard, and there Philip James and Lewis Prothero they swear friendship to one another for a long age before the old cross, and everyone sings praises. And my cousin he do declare to me that there were men standing in that crowd that he did never see before in Llantrisant in all his life, and his heart was shaken within him as if it had been in a whirl-wind."I had listened to all this in silence. I said then: "What does your cousin mean by that? Men that he had never seen in Llantrisant? What men?""The people," he said very slowly, "call them the Fishermen."And suddenly there came into my mind the "Rich Fisherman" who in the old legend guards the holy mystery of the Graal.
Fly by Night by Arthur Dekker Savage, Science Fiction, Fantasy
The general introduced them in the ship's shadow, a trim lieutenant, a clean-cut major. "You probably already think of each other as Carol and Ken. At any rate, there are no two people in the world who have heard as much about each other without previously meeting."She offered her hand and he took it, held it for a long moment while their eyes locked. "Hello, Carol," he said warmly. "I'd have known you from your pictures." And he realized as never before what a poor substitute were the hoarded scraps of paper."Hello -- Ken." A smile made her face radiant. "I've sort of studied your pictures too."
Arthur O'Shaughnessy, A Pre-Raphaelite Poet in the British Museum
Arthur O'Shaughnessy's career as a natural historian in the British Museum, and his consequent preoccupation with the role of work in his life, provides the context with which to reexamine his contributions to Victorian poetry. O'Shaughnessy's engagement with aestheticism, socialism, and Darwinian theory can be traced to his career as a Junior Assistant at the British Museum, and his perception of the burden of having to earn a living outside of art. Making use of extensive archival research, Jordan Kistler demonstrates that far from being merely a minor poet, O'Shaughnessy was at the forefront of later Victorian avant-garde poetry. Her analyses of published and unpublished writings, including correspondence, poetic manuscripts, and scientific notebooks, demonstrate O'Shaughnessy's importance to the cultural milieu of the 1870s, particularly his contributions to English aestheticism, his role in the importation of decadence from France, and his unique position within contemporary debates on science and literature.

Thank you for checking out this book by Theophania Publishing. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you soon. We have thousands of titles available, and we invite you to search for us by name, contact us via our website, or download our most recent catalogues. The volume now before the reader is a tardy addition to a series in which I have endeavoured to present Schopenhauer's minor writings in an adequate form. Its contents are drawn entirely from his posthumous papers. A selection of them was given to the world some three of four years after his death by his friend and literary executor, Julius Frauenst dt, who for this and other offices of piety, has received less recognition than he deserves. The papers then published have recently been issued afresh, with considerable additions and corrections, by Dr. Eduard Grisebach, who is also entitled to gratitude for the care with which he has followed the text of the manuscripts, now in the Royal Library at Berlin, and for having drawn attention-although in terms that are unnecessarily severe-to a number of faults and failings on the part of the previous editor.
