He has written fiction for ten years and continues to develop as a writer, drafting stories that amuse him. He hopes they amuse you as well.Rick Patterson has pushed his five-year-old son Jason to be an achiever. When the boy is invited to a birthday party, Rick believes everyone will like him. However, Jason attacks birthday boy Ben Cowley after he tries to hog his friend Greg. When Ben's parents ask Jason and his mother to leave, Rick and Mr. Cowley break into a fight. Rick gets over his pride though, and his family apologizes to the Cowleys.Norbert Kovacs lives and writes in Hartford, Connecticut. Margolin is a retired attorney, and lives with his wife, Judith, in Newton, Massachusetts. As an attorney, Ken made it a sacred mission to avoid legalese in his professional writing. Still relatively new to fiction, Ken's stories have been published in print and online, in Pif Magazine, Evening Street Review, Twenty-Two Twenty-Eight, Short Edition, The Literary Hatchet, among others; poetry in Shot Glass Journal. A couple become disillusioned with their life in Echo Park. When an old friend comes to visit them, he triggers a different perspective on their relationship, and thus they become increasingly alienated by one another. What is unclear is whether the friend has unwittingly helped, or deliberately hindered, the long term partnership of an old college buddy. Chris Viner is a writer based in Los Angeles. He is the author of Lemniscate (nominated for a Pushcart Award). His work appears in Ash, Colorado Review, Critical Read, The Festival Review and The London Magazine, among others. Ed Ahern resumed writing after forty odd years in foreign intelligence and international sales. He's had over two hundred fifty stories and poems published so far, and six books. Ed works the other side of writing at Bewildering Stories, where he sits on the review board and manages a posse of six review editors. https: //twitter.com/bottomstripper, https: //www.facebook.com/EdAhern73/?ref=bookmarks, https: //www.instagram.com/edwardahern1860/"The Souvenir" tells of an attraction repressed by distance and the constraints of friendship until the connection vanishes, leaving only longing.David A. Carrillo lives in Benicia, California. "Harvest of Bittersweet Plums" belongs to a collection of short fiction about family relationships that he has written. Carrillo also writes travel literature and historical fiction. His story "Vengeance Was She" is scheduled to appear in a 2021 issue of Frontier Tale. What kind of father disappoints his daughter by waking her up to wish her a happy birthday only to say goodbye? I hope you like your presents, sorry I won't be here when you open them. Being on-call 24/7 sucked. How do you explain to a seven-year-old the crappy choices adults have to make? Kids see through the bullshit. There was no excuse for him to be anywhere else but home: blowing up balloons, barbecuing hot dogs, and singing Happy Birthday. Will she ever forgive me?www.WapshottPress.org
Progress in Anti-Cancer Chemotherapy

Progress in Anti-Cancer Chemotherapy

This is the third volume of our series Progress in Anti-Cancer Chemo therapy. Following the strategy of the first two volumes, it covers selected aspects of progress in this fast moving field of Oncology, with contribu tions from some of the world's best known leaders in both basic and clin ical research. This year we focused on seven areas: Three prominent Clinical investigators reviewed conceptual advances in cancer research. Dr Buzdar presented a history and overview of the protection of human subjects who participate in clinical research, and the mechanisms developed to assure the ethical conduct of research on human beings. Frei reviewed an exciting and rapidly moving area of che motherapy of solid tumors, including a cogent discussion of the issues related to dose-intensification. Fisher summarized conceptual advances in our therapeutic approach to breast cancer and the paradigm shifts that lead us to our current management strategies. From this summary he pro jected breast cancer research into the future, a daunting task under any circumstance. Fundamental research in cancer biology has been responsible for our improved understanding of the development and progession of malignant disease. Such understanding will lead to improved diagnosis, therapy, and eventually, prevention. Isaacs reviews the area of hereditary breast cancer, a topic undergoing rapid transformation and with mUltiple impli cations in the daily practice of medicine. Fidler, an international expert in metastasis research reviews the potential utility of angiogenesis inhib itors in research and the therapeutic ramifications.
Mechanics of Fretting and Fretting Fatigue

Mechanics of Fretting and Fretting Fatigue

This book, which has only one very distant forerunner authored by David A. Hills with David Nowell, represents a very big step that is the quantification of these problems and represents the twenty-five years’ worth of work which have gone on at Oxford since the first book on the subject. Fatigue (popularly ‘metal fatigue’) is the primary failure mode of all machines, engines, transmissions and indeed almost all mechanical devices. The propagation of cracks is well understood and is treated in the subject Fracture Mechanics. By contrast, the nucleation of cracks is very hard to quantify and this remains the case with so-called ‘free initiation’ and, to a lesser extent, at cracks nucleated from stress raising features. But the third form of nucleation, where cracks start from the edges of rubbing components, that is, at joints, is potentially a very much better-defined environment, and therefore, the problem is amendable to attack by applied mechanics and experiment. The contents are of value both to those embarking on research on the subject and to practitioner in industry.

Software Reliability Growth Models

Software Reliability Growth Models

David D. Hanagal; Nileema N. Bhalerao

Springer Verlag, Singapore
2021
sidottu
This book presents the basic concepts of software reliability growth models (SRGMs), ranging from fundamental to advanced level. It discusses SRGM based on the non-homogeneous Poisson process (NHPP), which has been a quite successful tool in practical software reliability engineering. These models consider the debugging process as a counting process characterized by its mean value function. Model parameters have been estimated by using either the maximum likelihood method or regression. NHPP SRGMs based on inverse Weibull, generalized inverse Weibull, extended inverse Weibull, generalized extended inverse Weibull, and delayed S-shaped have been focused upon. Review of literature on SRGM has been included from the scratch to recent developments, applicable in artificial neural networks, machine learning, artificial intelligence, data-driven approaches, fault-detection, fault-correction processes, and also in random environmental conditions. This book is designed for practitioners and researchers at all levels of competency, and also targets groups who need information on software reliability engineering.
